Hello everyone. Welcome back to Manila,
London. As you can see, we have onion
here. The other day, we harvest garlic
and today our onion because the weather
forecast says it's going to rain
tomorrow or on a weekend. So, this is
the best time to harvest our onion. Look
at this. Huge.
They are huge. I'm coming. Come in. Come
in.
So, I'm going to harvest it. So, this is
the the board, the cardboard that I'm
going to dry on
to lay on. Yeah. And
look at
that.
Yeah.
Oh god. So a little bit wet. So that's
mean we need to dye it.
Okay.
God.
We've got to go from here all the way
all the way. All the way down there.
Yeah.
We're going to be here for a while.
I think I'm going to time lapse.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Guys, look at this. This is massive
onion. This is I'm aiming for. That's
why I didn't harvest um couple of weeks
ago and it's been raining a bit wet. And
take a look at this.
Oh my goodness. Yeah. So, we are going
to harvest from I think from there
to over there. Ayan harvest mala. Onion.
Big onion.

Look at that.
So from here to there harvest. Some of
them are small but it's okay. We have
few medunes and large organic
yanertilizer
chemicals and also organic fertilizer.
Oh my goodness. Sila
guys. Start

wet roots.
It's July.
[Music]
I'm harvesting because I'm going to
plant um corn in here. Oh my goodness.
Look at this. This big

I planted the onion po around October
last year and this time now is July. So
it takes 10 months to grow in the UK. So
in the Philippines
maybe
6 months to seven months maximum
because of our weather is really wet and
also cold in winter time. So it's slow
growing. So in summer
harvest I didn't plant this from seed. I
plant them in a little small bulb per it
works. So I tried before from seeds but
it worked then po the small bulbs at
mala yan. So I made sure I have space
for my onion because I miss our country.
I miss my dad planting onion. I miss our
farm. So we do um plant onion or grow
onion in the Philippines. And also I
remember when I was younger, my mom and
dad will ask me and my siblings to go to
the farm and to pull out millions of
weeds because they said instead of the
nutrients going to the weeds, they
taught us the weeds should be removed
because the nutrients should be going to
the onion itself. So it benefits and we
will have a bountiful harvest for that
year. As you notice, there's no weeds in
my garden. and I always remove them. I
learned it from my childhood. I've
learned a lot from my parents,
gardening, planting, and everything in
my life. So, thank you, Mom and Dad, for
teaching me. And without you, I'm not in
this position to grow vegetables and
flowers. Oh, believe me, when I was
younger, I get told off often and it's
entered to my right ear and goes out to
my left ear. But I learned a lot of good
lessons from my mom and dad. And I am
living with all of those lessons from my
childhood. I hope they're watching right
now. I hope they are proud. Thank you,
mom and dad. I love you. Let's do
harvesting. I know it takes 10 months to
grow onion here in the UK, but my fruit
of flavor is paid off. This onion will
last us for 6 months or so. I have
noticed and this is based from my
experience. Onion can grow in the UK all
year round. any kinds of onion
especially the spring one. After
harvesting this I will grow again from
seeds. I will plant them in seed tray at
the moment and I am going to transfer
them in October time as much as we can.
We would like to grow our own vegetable
organically vegetables that we can stock
for longer consumption at this way we
can eat healthy
and especially save a little bit of
penny from your package. It's really
handy that you have available stocks in
your cupboard. In the Philippines, we
grow onion in December time. Same here
in the UK, the last month that you can
grow onion is October to December. And
then you will harvest around June or
July. But in the Philippines, it will
harvest very quick. Oh my word, it's
finished. As you can see, a little bit
big, some are small, some are medium. is
not all of it is perfect. You know,
nothing in this world is perfect. But
look at that. I'm so happy what we
harvest for today. Some of these will be
given or a gift to my friends or to my
neighbor. I'm happy and I'm blessed for
all the harvest for today. Oh my
goodness me. I feel like I'm just in the
Philippines. This is what we do in the
Philippines.
You're going to lay them out to dry and
then you are going to cut all the leaves
later on. And when all the onions is in
the big bags and everyone is finished,
the truck is coming and all men
including my dad will load the big
truck. And I'm so happy and I'm happy
today as well. Even we only feel this
will last us for long. Maybe 6 months or
so. and we're going to dried it into the
garage. I hope I'm inspiring you to grow
your own. It's not that hard to grow
onion. It's very easy. Just plant it
around October until December and then
that's it. Just leave it. Just fertilize
sometimes when it's dry. Just water
them. It's not going to be dry anyway
because it's cold weather in the UK. You
don't need to water them all the time
and you will have harvest just like
this. Oh my god, the smells in here. The
smell here is so nice. I got this um
garlic chives as well. And this basil.
Wow, the basil.
It's delicious. Look at that. I got the
herbs in the world in here. And then
also I got some mint. Ah, delicious. I
want to make mint. Yeah. And this one as
well. This is a garlic chibives. And
then you know what? Here
I got coriander, too. Oh, this smells so
good. Coriander,
bay leaves,
mint. Very nice.
I'm I'm smelling now. Very strong. I'm
smell
I can say scram cheese. The onion smells
gorgeous. Divine.
Look at this onion.
Mulan,
I have a story to tell you. When I was
younger and we often go to our farm when
during vacation or holiday season and of
course during harvest time of onion, we
go to our farm. We're so excited and we
ask money from my mom and dad because I
know they're going to harvest a lot. But
instead giving us money, they would say,
"Okay, harvest onion as much as you like
and also take it with you and you sell
them." But only the onion that you can
carry. Of course, we were young and
we're so little. We can carry only a few
or maybe two to three or 5 kilos. Oh my
god. Me and my sisters, oh my siblings,
we drag this onion in a sock. Cuz my dad
said, "Anything that you can take, don't
put them in our truck. Don't put them in
our car. Just carry them to the selling
person, to the buyer." Oh my goodness,
it was so heavy. Well worth it. carrying
few kilos of onion and we sold them into
the buyer and very easy and we have
money for a couple of days or a couple
of weeks and we were happy. Wow. So some
of this onion is going to be given and
as a gift for my friend.
That's for my friend.
