Overview and test of a Casablanca Panama II from 2002.
I no longer have this fan.
Hey guys! What's going on?
This is a new ceiling fan that I got today.
It's a Casablanca Panama, as you can clearly see,
although the light is a little too bright in here.
Let's turn off the fluorescent.
It's still a little bright, but that'll have to do.
So I got this ceiling fan at my RE store, as always.
I get most of my fans from there these days.
And I got it for absolutely free, actually,
because it was in the back. It was a new donation sometime this week.
And, um...
Well, so I got it for free.
And it's 100% complete and working,
including the W32 wall control
that is very rarely found on these donated fans.
So, yeah.
Great fan. I love it a lot.
I used to think that IntelliTouch was a little bit overrated,
until I got it.
So, yeah.
So I'm going to go over some of the different settings on the fan.
So first of all, the fan is from December 22, 2002.
It was a 3070th fan made that day, I think. I'm not sure.
I do know it was made on December 26, 2002.
The day after Christmas.
So I feel bad for the poor person who had to make this fan on their Christmas holiday.
It is complete with a light kit.
I don't know. I think this is a K4S. I'm not sure.
I don't know Casablanca light kits that well.
The Casablanca tag on the side there does not say Panama,
because this is a newer one.
It's still got the protective plastic sheet on there.
I'll have to remove that.
And the medallion up there did not come with it.
I had that put up there.
I actually got that along with my Sears Emerson.
And I just thought, you know, I'd put it up there and keep the hang true
from going all the way up to the wood beams there.
And it actually doesn't look bad. It actually kind of matches.
So, yeah.
It does have Casablanca swirled glass shades.
Really nice. And white gloss blades.
So, I'll go ahead and do the light for you.
You've got to hold it.
Oh, wait. I didn't even turn it on.
Okay. Let's try that.
There it is. There's the light.
And it's very bright, as you can see.
And the camera's getting overwhelmed.
So, I can dim the light.
You can dim the light by holding down the light button.
And if you do that, the light will dim, I think.
No, it won't. You've got to turn it off and then hold.
Yeah, there it is.
You turn it off and then you hold it down.
I had that problem with the fan.
I couldn't figure out.
So, there it is with the light on.
Okay.
And now, we'll do the fan.
So, this fan...
I usually start off my fans testing on high speed.
I can't do that because if I start it up on high speed,
I can't make the speed go down.
You've got to start it off on low.
So, you hold the fan button down until it beeps once.
There. So, that's low speed right there.
This fan is so...
It actually isn't as bright white as it looks.
I think it just looks really bright because of the light coming in from the shed.
Let's see.
So, that's low speed. That's about as slow as it goes.
A very nice low speed, by the way.
Turn it up to speed 2.
Oh, I accidentally turned the light on. Okay.
And there goes speed 2.
So, it goes a little bit faster. This is more of a functional low.
I'm feeling a little bit of air.
I think that the airflow on this fan is greatly reduced because I'm in such a small space.
So...
And...
Speed 3.
This is kind of a slow medium.
Alright.
Speed 4.
This is more of a medium speed.
No wobble at all on this speed.
Oh, and it is blowing some air now.
Okay.
Let's do speed 5.
This is a medium-high speed.
Still no wobble.
Well, just a little bit of wobble, but not much.
Okay.
And finally, speed 6, which is high.
And now it is wobbling.
I was going to balance it, but, you know...
I'll probably do that at a later date.
It's not a bad wobble, it's just, you know, a little bit.
And it is blowing a lot of air.
I guess I'll show it to you with the light on now.
Very bright.
And now, I'll turn it off.
Okay.
Stop it.
And I'm going to reverse it.
And now, start it up on low speed.
Okay, so there it goes in low and reverse.
That noise you're hearing is not coming from the fan once more.
It's coming from...
Whoa.
It's coming from that thing over there.
And so sorry for just blinding everybody.
This camera's got some issues.
That's low speed and reverse.
And it is going a bit slower, as I suspected.
Reverse is always slower for some reason.
We'll do a speed 2.
This is actually a nice low speed.
Well, this isn't low speed, but it's a nice speed.
I like it.
And speed 3.
Can't feel any air yet.
It's surprising.
Well, I feel a little bit.
Okay.
Speed 4.
Which is kind of a medium speed, once again.
Okay, yeah, now I'm feeling the air.
I'm really interested.
I haven't tested it on high and reverse yet.
I'm really interested to see if the wobble is any worse or any better.
Speed 5, which is a medium-high speed.
No wobble yet, but I'm definitely feeling the air.
And finally, high speed.
Oh, it looks like there is a little bit of wobble.
Okay, I spoke.
No, I was going to say I spoke too soon.
But there is just a little bit of wobble, but not half as bad as it was on forward.
Blowing a lot of air.
Yeah.
Is that noise coming from the fan?
No, it's coming from that thing over there.
I thought that noise sounded like bearing noises.
That black plastic thing right up there.
Okay.
Light.
Turn it off.
Now I'm going to set it back to forward.
Stop it with my hand.
So, a little more about this fan.
It does not have an Emerson K55 in it.
It has a Casablanca XLP stack motor.
A little bit different from the K55.
I'm not sure how different.
That's what I was told.
It doesn't seem to be any different in performance.
It's still a very good performer.
And, yeah, anything else that I can think of?
Oh, yeah.
Panama's actually are very, very common in my area.
I see them everywhere here in Baltimore.
So, they're very common.
And I'm guessing that this came out of a house somewhere,
probably in either Baltimore or Towson,
because these are so common here.
And I was sick of seeing them in open houses and everything,
but now I own one, and I think they're just amazing.
You know, they're simple, but they're also classy.
Now, I think it can be mounted four blades only,
because there's, like, other holes in the flywheel and everything,
and I haven't really figured that out.
And I still don't know the difference.
Like, you can do different settings with the W32.
I haven't figured that all out yet either.
Maybe if I do figure it out, I'll post a video response to this one,
but for now I'm happy with the six speeds and the light and reverse function.
I'm learning stuff every minute with this thing.
So, yeah.
So that's, I guess, is that it?
Anything else?
Doesn't seem like it.
No, I was just going to turn that on.
So that is the Casablanca Panama Intelitouch ceiling fan.
52-inch. I think it's 52-inch. I haven't measured.
Yeah, it's 52-inch, I think. At least it looks like it.
So, 52-inch Casablanca Panama Intelitouch from 2002.
Thank you for watching, and more to come.
Hey guys, this is just a quick video response, or I guess a part two, part one and a half,
I don't know, whatever, to the Panama video.
I figured out demo mode.
So what you do is you do power off, power on,
fan, light, fan, light, fan.
And now it'll go through demo mode, which goes through all the settings.
So it turns on the light.
I guess I should have stopped the fan.
There.
And now it turns the fan on to low speed and forward.
And then it goes up the speeds.
I wish I could turn the light off.
Should I? I'll turn the fluorescent off.
And now it's going up high speed.
And now it's reversing.
And going back to forward.
And turning the fan off.
And lights off.
And now demo mode has ended.
Turn it off.
And then when you turn the fan back on, it'll go back into the regular mode.
So, if you don't turn the power back off, apparently it'll just keep doing demo mode
over and over and over and over and over and over until the world ends.
So, that is the end of the Panama video.
Thanks for watching.
