Making an Alice in Wonderland inspired dress (DIY Alice in Wonderland Dress)
Hello, and welcome back to another sewing adventure! First of all - if you haven’t seen my video on fabric shopping already, I’d recommend you check it out because this video (which is effectively a follow up project) will make much more sense with some context which I’ve already explained there! • Fabric Shopping (& new project inspiration!)
Basically, I decided that with my new fabric I would make a dress which was (very loosely) inspired by Alice in Wonderland. And so now that this lovely tencel from Stone Fabrics has arrived, I just wanted to share some of the making process and show you the final outcome of what has turned out to be one of my favourite projects this year!
The pattern I chose wasn’t my original design, but I went for a full-skirted dress from the Great British Sewing Bee book because it gave me strong Alice vibes and I’ve been meaning to try it for ages anyway. I also loved how summery it felt, and with weather this gorgeous at the moment how could I pass up the opportunity for a cinematic grand reveal of the finished garment?!? (Also - location credits go to my absolutely lovely (honorary) grandparents, since it is their garden in which I have filmed said cinematic grand reveal!)
But without further ado, I hope you enjoy the video - and have a wonderful rest of the week! x
