What is up? Today what we're going to be doing is creating a little 10-piece capsule for fall.
I'm going to be grabbing 10 different items of clothing from my closet that I thought would be
fun to be sort of like that base of a capsule for a fall wardrobe and then next week's video
what I thought we could do is do like a 10 by 10 wardrobe challenge video. So 10 outfits with
the 10 pieces. Now these are all things that I honestly feel like are such essential to my
wardrobe in the fall. The things that I get the most wear out of, the things I mix and match the
most, and the things that just are those pieces for me. And I have made videos in the past about
why you're doing the capsule wardrobe all wrong and one of the main things in that is because
you're trying to do the perfect capsule in things that everybody else tells you should be the perfect
pieces when really you should have pieces in your closet that are true to you and things that you
like to wear on repeat over and over again because something I might consider an essential in my
wardrobe might not be an essential to you or might not be something you're comfortable in or that you
feel your most confident self in. So that's always so important to keep in mind when curating a
wardrobe that really works for you. These are all just going to be clothing items. I didn't
necessarily want to throw in you know accessories, shoes, bags because the 10 pieces adds up real
quick. So these are just clothing items. So the first piece honestly I could not live without
this in my wardrobe. My black mock neck top. I wear this all year round literally all year round
even in the summer on a cooler night. I'm probably wearing this and that is just such an essential to
my wardrobe especially during the fall and the winter because I love wearing it as a standalone
piece. I love layering it. I love just wearing it. That's why I have it. That is obviously piece
number one when I was like okay which 10 am I going for? That was the first one that I grabbed
for. The next thing I wanted to include was a graphic tee and I love having you know t-shirts
and things like that as well through my fall slash winter wardrobe because you can use them
underneath as a layering piece or you can just wear it as a standalone and then you know pop a
heavier jacket on over top. I love a graphic tee. I'm definitely drawn to styles that are more
classic but I also love having like that very subtle edge to things and I just find graphic
t-shirts are that and if you layer up some jewelry with it it always looks really good. I'm throwing
in some color here. Not crazy color but color. I chose out a blue button-up blouse. Now typically
you know I'd probably just go for full neutrals and I don't know you might consider this shade
of blue more of a neutral. I kind of do too but to me this is this is a step up. We're going a
little more colorful but having that very classic style too like you can't go wrong with a button-up
blouse and it's something you can pair with your jeans, you can pair with your dress pants, you
can pair you know wear it open. There's a lot of different options that you can do with a button-up
and that's kind of why I decided to throw that one in there to get that mix of color and to also
have the option to wear it as a layering piece or wear it as a standalone piece and get a lot of good
well good wear out of it. So after the blue button-up we're also popping in a white button-up blouse as
well. Same energy here. I like how you can wear it open, you can wear it closed, you can have it be
more of a layering piece, you can wear it as that standalone piece and a white button-up is definitely
one of those pieces that's always in all of like the capsule wardrobe lists. I personally love mine,
I do wear it a lot. That's why I added it in here because I like the fact that it can be dressed
down a little bit to have it be more of that casual item or you could dress it up a touch so
there's options. We like options. The next thing I wanted to add was a faux leather jacket. I think
these just speak fall. I personally love mine. Once again it's a little bit more with that edgier vibe
which is right up my alley and it's that extra layering piece and it goes perfectly with all of
the tops that I already listed out which is why I threw it in there. I think it's one of those things
that's extremely versatile and you can get tons of wear out of it with multiple different outfits.
Next thing would be a cardigan. I feel like I've focused a lot on tops here. I'm definitely one of
those people who I'd rather have more tops and layering pieces and then just you know a couple
of bottoms to re-wear. That's definitely more my vibe. So I picked out a cardigan. I have like this
camel colored cardigan which I thought was the perfect color for fall. Once again easy for
layering. You can wear it with multiple different things and get a few different looks with it and
just having that extra layer you can't go wrong. Okay so for bottoms, number one I decided on was my
leopard skirt. I love this skirt so much and this has been a key staple in my wardrobe since the day
I got it. I wear it all the time. I wear it literally all times of year. I just think it is one of those
people pieces that's extremely versatile. Something I've worn in the winter to something I've worn in
the summer. I find leopard print to be a little bit more timeless but also one of those things
that's very very trendy. So it's kind of like both but I find it to be that animal print that is the
one that kind of always stays. Do you know what I mean? Like I think some other animal prints like
zebra prints or I've seen like even cow print stuff like that. I find that to be a little bit more
phasal whereas leopard print is something that tends to be quite timeless. So if you do have
pieces that are those prints I mean you can wear them for years and years to come and that's what
I love about that skirt. It adds sort of that pop, that statement to your outfit while still being
very classic and since all of my other things that I've chosen are very solid, they're a little bit
more basic than I thought having something with a print to mix in. So it's not just all
solids. We need a little element of fun here. Next would be a pair of jeans. So just a basic pair of
blue jeans, good fitting jeans to make outfits be a little bit more casual. I thought we couldn't
create a capsule without that. I didn't want to have you know just trousers and skirts and things.
We need to have something that can make things be casual and laid back, a little bit more relaxed.
And lastly a pair of like trousers, pants that you could dress up or pants that you could also
dress down. If you wore them with you know the graphic tee or something like that then it kind
of just changes the whole look of the outfit and does make it seem a little bit more dressed down.
I went with my more camel colored dress pants here because I like that shade for the fall.
And I tried not to pick black pants, I tried to mix it up. So I actually only listed off nine things
when I was filming. This is the 10th piece, this sweater right here. This is my favorite sweater.
I got this sweater second hand a few years back and it has been such a staple in my wardrobe
ever since. Very neutral, it just goes well with everything. You can layer things under it, you can
pop a jacket or something on over top. I had to add it in as part of one of the 10 pieces.
That's what we came up with for the 10 pieces for the you know the 10 foundational pieces
of a fall capsule. This is a fun little way to experiment too, just getting 10 pieces nailed down
and seeing all of the different things you can make with those and then adding in maybe different
accessories, different shoes, different layering pieces or things like that just to see. It's a
good starting point to see what kind of things really really fit into your personal style and
what you get the most wear out of. I hope you enjoyed this and I will catch you in the next one. Bye!
