Day 420 - GREAT Progress, Shooting range, Felling, Root Balls

We had a stretch of no rain, and boy, did we take advantage of it.
I took four more pine trees down. I'm getting better, overall, but my consistency needs to improve. I made one back cut way too high and gained experience with too-strong hinge wood. Luckily, there were no obstacles to avoid and no dangerous leans or damage to take into consideration. Basic felling and uneventful, as it should be!
The root balls....meh. I'm over root balls. But 100% of the root balls are now in their final resting place, either in the shooting range berm or awaiting more flame in a burn pile. The only root ball moving I'll do going forward will be to push them a foot or two at a time closer to the center of the fire until they are gone from existence.
The shooting range got a tall upgrade. I completed the backstop, or berm, structure. I previously had plates set up at two distances and two directions. That was consolidated into one area with all six plates. The backstop is in a slight arch, not quite a full U or horseshoe, and the plates are angled toward the center. The plates hang from the top, so almost any place you hit the plate will result in the projectile ricocheting down. And with the racks angled in, all ricochet movement should be toward the bottom center of the backstop.

JK Boots:
Hands down, without question, the best outdoor working boot that I have ever tried. They aren't cheap and they aren't inexpensive. The break-in period was brutal for me. But after some boot oil and a few working days for them to conform to my feet, I've never worked in anything as form fitting and comfortable.
