The 2012 Touratech Pacific NW Adventure Rally hosted by RawHyde Adventures, was held June 21st-24th near the beautiful Bavarian themed town of Leavenworth, Washington. An amazing experience with great food, guided rides, and world class scenery, the 2012 Touratech Pacific NW Adventure Rally is scheduled at the optimum time for great road conditions. Wonderful riding event!
So we're here at the Touratech Pacific Northwest Adventure Rally with Rawhide.
The event is a three-day event with two days of riding. It's fully catered. We're camping
out here in the wilderness and we have guided rides each day from short and easy to all-day
epic adventures that go over several mountain ridges and see some some alpine lakes and
really remote rugged tracks that go places that most people never see.
I am continually inspired by the people that seem to be drawn to this sport, this game,
whatever you'd like to call it. They're good people. I enjoy the sense of accomplishment
that most of them come away with. Touratech's involved with this event because everything
we do has to do with getting on your motorcycle and going out away from cities, away from
population, camping, riding, seeing things that most people don't see because you're
you're out on different on little roads that that go over mountain passes and we just love
being out in the woods. I haven't seen this part of the world so I'm really looking forward to go
a little bit into the mountains and maybe doing the long ride where I can see a lot of the scenery
so I'd love to do that tomorrow.
What I love about riding in this area is that the roads seem like they're designed to be the
ultimate roads to ride on an adventure motorcycle. There are so many roads that have just the perfect
sweep. They are smooth. There's like a bed of pine needles on them in many places. Oftentimes
it's shaded by pine trees and it just has this amazing flow to it and it's incredibly fun but
it's also really scenic. I mean you come around so many corners where you can see this valley and
this beautiful low elevation mountains that are kind of framed by the high alpine snow-capped
peaks off in the distance and it's just amazing. You see that sort of thing all day long. I did
the epic ride which was unbelievable but there were some very quick sweepers and you know very
enjoyable time in the scenery. It was just epic. One of the really nice things about this event
is that it seems to draw people from all around the country actually. We've got a an awful lot
of Canadians who've come in and it's always nice to have Canadians around and we've had a lot of
people from other states. I actually heard there was one guy who showed up here from Virginia or
something. That's quite the drive.
No it's a great place to catch up with customers that we see.
I mean we get to see them at least once a year if they come to our event.
Of course the part of the adventure is to sit together with the people at the campfire and
just hang out, have a beer, have some fun, share stories. This is what travel
meetings is all about I think. I've been running a training school for 10 years now and in that
tenure period almost everyone that comes for training comes alone and we interrogate them.
How come you're alone? Don't you have any friends you could bring along? This is a cool thing to do
and universally the message is that the adventure rider is a lone wolf. A person who doesn't feel
like they have a sense of community and that's part of what we're trying to do is we're trying
hard to increase the size of the community and so when when they come here as I said on my little
orientation chat last night we all have one thing in common here and that is we enjoy motorcycles.
When you have when you see the smiles on the faces of the people that are out here doing
something that they would not be doing if it wasn't for this event this event just gives them
the ability it enables them to come out here and experience something that they just
wouldn't do on their own and that's really what it's about for us.
