British Couple Try Vietnamese Food for the First Time! Hoi An Night Market

Good morning, hi. Thank you very much. Thank you. I'll have two straws then. That is so good. No. Yeah. I'm sorry. That's okay. Thank you. Good morning guys. We are at the airport this morning. We are flying up to the north of Vietnam. We're flying into Da Nang airport. It's not the north, it's more central isn't it? Geographically. I'd say like a bit up from central. We had an interesting journey on the way here. The road system here is crazy. It's just scooters, scooters, scooters. It's kind of like organised chaos. I couldn't do it personally. No, but I don't know how people don't get hit off their bikes. We felt kind of bad that we've been in Vietnam two days now and we haven't really experienced the local foods. 10.30am trying some po, which is traditional Vietnamese food. So what I can see, if you want to do a bit of a... Never had it before. It's like rice noodles here, beef. There's a pork ball of some sort here. Spring onion, onion and some sort of broth. But I'm not too sure what. Let me give it a go. What's that taste like? That's really nice. It's a bit like a weak stock cube. There's loads of different things here that you can put into it. Different herbs and stuff and lime juice. That's really nice. Are you going to bother with that? Probably not. No, I like it. I'm going to try some of the noodles now. We're good at eating this kind of food for breakfast now. It's only taken seven minutes. Very nice. There was chicken. I did order chicken originally but they'd run out. My food's arrived but I can't get over Vietnam coffee. Vietnamese. George is really struggling with saying the word Vietnamese. Every time it's Vietnamese he says and sometimes I tell him, sometimes I don't. But he has no idea. I don't actually know what this is. You know what it is? I can't remember. So it's vermicelli rice noodles. Nice. Some marinated pork. Some leaves. Some cucumber, carrot. Some coriander and that sort of stuff. Oh wow, look at that. OK, let's try a bit of this pork. It looks so nice. I'm a bit jealous. It's cold, are you being serious? I don't know if it's meant to be hot. Is the noodles hot? Is it nice? I don't know if it's meant to be warm or not. That's not great actually. I don't think we've come to a very good place. No, I don't. We've messed up fam. Our flight's been delayed. So we have a quick question for you, the viewer. Did you listen to our podcast when we were recording podcast episodes? Because we really, really enjoyed making the Do The Thing podcast. Not to say we've stopped doing it but we're thinking of we know we haven't made one for a while because we've been making these daily videos doing so much non-stop, non-stop travel. But we're thinking of bringing it back because we've got so much to talk about. So much more behind the scenes stuff that we could be talking about that don't necessarily go into these vlogs. Podcasts are quite raw and stuff. Not that the videos aren't. But we just sit down, don't plan it, we just sit down with a microphone unplanned and just chat for like half an hour or something. We're on Spotify, we're on Google Play, all the popular podcast platforms we are on. So we probably wouldn't put the videos on this channel now because we're doing the Daily Juice. But let us know if that's something you'd like. Our plane's here. It's arrived. We have arrived at our accommodation just for the one night. We're actually staying at somewhere called Lovini Villas and we're doing some promotional work for them while we're here. But they didn't have availability tonight so they sent us to their friend's villa tonight which is absolutely fine because it's beautiful. And then tomorrow we're heading over to them in the morning and we're going to be doing some work with them over the next few days. If you're wondering where we are, which I wouldn't blame you for because we haven't actually told you or explained anything to be honest, we're actually in Hoi An which we're really excited about. Everyone that said to come to Vietnam has basically raved about this place and said you have to go there and it's the one place they recommend and the one place they enjoy the most. The view from this balcony is ridiculous. We're in the middle of rice paddies as well and there's palm trees everywhere, an amazing pool which we're going to go check out in a minute. Hence the swimsuit. But look out here. How insane is that? Massive palm trees, beautiful pool, and then the rice paddies are just over here and all around here. Amazing. And the room's pretty nice. George, have you got your boxes? Nice big bed. Oh no, hang on. I haven't even introduced this, have I, George? Do you want to do the honours? Balcony area. Bed area with a George. Coffee area. Editing area. TV watching area. Fridge area. Hanging clothes up area which we won't be using. You know that's not. Nice big shower. Sink. And for the third time so far this trip, something exploded in our wash bag on a flight and we had to wash all of our stuff again. Susie. And the woman just came over and said, excuse me, my daughter wanted me to make a coffee for the beautiful lady and gave me this. So cute. I'm literally dying. Can I try some? You're not a beautiful lady, you don't get me. Oh, is it good? It's so nice. Yummy. This is such a nice place. It's beautiful. Shame we're only here for one night. I know, but it's nice to make the most of it. I love it. It's called Gem Villas if you're wondering. Right, we are all changed and ready to go out to dinner. We're going to the Old Town for dinner and we're going to also wander around the Old Market. I think we're going to get a grab. No, Night Market, not Old Market. Oh yeah, the Night Market in the Old Town. I think we're going to get a grab, which is the taxi app that we use on our phones. You just put in where you're going. It tells you the price. You can pay on card. Your card's all linked to it. Nice and easy. Because it's a 20 minute walk, so I think we're going to do that. I am starving. I need food so bad. We only had that pho thing at, oh, all right, at about 10 o'clock this morning and it is now half seven. We've had a really good day though. It's such a nice place here. We kind of wish we were staying a little bit longer than one night, but the next place we're going to is equally as nice. We've, whoa, Lucy just unplugged the electricity from the room. Yeah, we had a really nice swim here. Then I was sitting on the balcony doing some emails. Such a dreamy place to get some work done and I called my grandparents for like half an hour, which was so nice to talk to them. Great to know that everyone is doing well at home whilst we're out here gallivanting around. Come on, I'm hungry. You know we love a market. We're at a market. We love a market. We've just been dropped in Hoi An. We've just driven through over the river and stuff. Seen all the lanterns and things. The two main things that we're picking up from Hoi An. So there's lanterns everywhere. I'll show you some in a second. And, oh, roti. We must get savoury first. We need savoury first. Wow, this looks crazy. The lanterns and tailor-made clothing. Oh, everywhere. It is really, really known. Here's some of the lanterns I've been talking about. This is so nice. Oh, my God. There's like tailors on every street. As Lucy said, suits, dresses, boots. Anything you can think of. Oh, this is so, so cool. We need to find some food. We found a little restaurant just off from the main market. We're thinking of some Hoi An specialities as we're in Hoi An. So they have something called kom gar, which is chicken rice. Sounds pretty basic, but it's supposed to be pretty good. So everything so far in Asia, every time you order a drink, they put like sugar syrup, condensed milk, something sweet in it. So I've actually ordered a mango juice, and they said it comes with condensed milk and sugar syrup, but I asked for it without tonight. That's so much better. It actually tastes like mangoes instead of just sugar. I think after this, we're just going to have a walk around the market. There's so much here. It's like, I feel like we could get lost here. Like I said before, we actually have our phones back to normal now in terms of, like, calls, text and internet like we would be at home because of the kind of George has drops of chocolate on the floor. Pick them up then. Oh, and you're putting them back in so someone else is going to use them. Lovely. The chicken rice has arrived. It smells so good. What should we get in it? Should we have some? Calm down on your portions like that. I find it quite difficult to eat rice with chocolate. Yeah? Really chickeny. Really good. Getting some pancakes here, some chocolate, some Nutella. Using the rest of our Dong. We managed to barter 5,000 off the price. The apprentice hard at work. Not bad. Yeah, pretty good. Not bad. Thank you. That's great. Thank you. Thank you very much. We both fall in love with this place already. So cool. Such a cool market here. Now we've come down to the river where people pay to put lanterns in the river. We will find out more about this and let you know. But it looks amazing. I don't really know what the significance of it is but it's a... Wow. It's a real sight actually. I think you can hire a boat and pay to put a lantern into the water and let it just float around. It looks so nice. All the reflections. That bridge is really cool as well. But we're just going to sit here now and eat our roti and then get a grab back to our hotel. But this place is so nice and I'm happy that we've got a bit longer here than Coachman City.
