Guys, welcome to another day juice, welcome to BGC.
We want to in this video, in today's video this morning, by the way, before we start
actually I've just posted a Monday post.
It is Monday morning here, we've had breakfast, we've been to the gym, we've showered, we've
got ready, I haven't done my hair yet.
But Monday guys is a fresh start, I just posted something on Instagram and I was writing my
caption and it ended up being way longer than I thought it would be.
Monday is one of those days that we should not dread, we shouldn't fear it, we shouldn't
be waiting for it to end.
I think we should be embracing Mondays.
Monday is literally a fresh start, I could read my caption off Instagram, it's a fresh
start to do that thing you want to do, start the thing, remove the negativity.
People should never not like a day because you should be grateful for having a day in
the first place.
Perspective.
So in today's video guys, we wanted to explain why we chose BGC to live, to have our base
here, our apartment, rather than some other neighborhoods like Makati, which we also spent
a lot of time in when we were staying in hotels whenever we were in Manila.
So we're going to head out, we're going to show you some of our favorite spots in BGC,
explain why we chose this place, what we love about it, and just bring you guys in a little
bit more with why we made this decision.
We're feeling way more settled in now to the apartment, which is ironically making us want
to travel more.
So we are planning a little bit of a road trip coming up guys, it's going to be happening
over the next week or so.
And our plan potentially is to head over to those mountains that we can see from here.
We think we've identified them on Google Maps and I think we're going to get a car and drive
that way, see if we can find them, see if we can stay there for a few days and do a
little bit of a road trip.
So adventure travel vlogs coming soon.
I've also just changed into one of my new shirts and it is the softest material actually
known to man.
Lucy is wearing her brand new t-shirt today.
But you said it wrong earlier, George was like wasabi, but I was like no it's just wasabi,
like wasabi, but bam.
Okay, let's go.
We were just talking about the reasons that we chose BGC and we just came up with eight
key reasons between us.
There's like loads more of small reasons, but we're not going to tell you the eight
reasons now because you know how YouTube videos work, if we did it now you wouldn't want to
watch the rest of the video.
Exactly.
We've got to spread it out.
So we're going for number one now, which is food, restaurants.
There are so many nice restaurants here in BGC.
We haven't even discovered all of them.
We've got like, I don't think we can, we've got four, five or six of our favourite restaurants
right here in BGC.
We're going to head to one of them now to grab some lunch.
So off the top of my head, my favourites right now are Mendecoro Ramen Bar because it's the
best thing in the entire universe.
Din Tai Fung, incredible dumplings and yeah, we like it there a lot.
Wildflower, haven't got the best breakfast.
My incredible omelette I get there, the ham and ricotta omelette.
They only actually have it on the McAfee menu, but I order it in BGC and they always can
sort me out, which is great.
And where are we going now?
Elephant Ground, it's a new one, but we've been there a few times now and I'm pretty
good at the food.
And we have been known to go here at some interesting times in the morning, a couple
of times, but...
Oh, and here does really good bakery stuff.
Yeah, we've never had it, we had it in Tokyo, but we haven't had it here yet, but I guess
it's the same.
There is a life I lead in this city, hurrying to cut my teeth.
I can take what I need to get by, it doesn't make it easy.
The other piece of my heart moves slower, somewhere in the great unknown.
When I return from the afterglow, will you carry me like I am whole again?
Wait, hold on, put me together, take me back where I belong.
I want it all, I had a feeling but the feeling is all gone.
Wait, hold on, put me together, take me back where I belong.
I want it all.
So Elephant Ground is the first place we're coming, well, probably the only place we're
going to come to for lunch.
This isn't our best lunch spot in Manila video, no?
No, that could be another video, we've got so many nice spots we like going to, but Elephant
Ground is good, we've been here a couple of times now, coffee's good, we've just ordered
the burger, because we haven't tried the burger here yet, always like to try the burger in
a new place when we try it out.
We had one comment on a video uploaded recently about the apartment saying, why did you guys
choose Manila, why didn't you choose Cebu?
Well, that was one comment, and the other comment was, you guys say you've fallen in
love with the provinces and the ocean and the beaches, why did you choose to live in
their, quote, trapping, polluted city like Manila?
Yeah, and we will answer that later in the video.
I like this one.
Thanks so much.
Wow.
So the burger, oh my god, so the burger comes with like, sourdough bread, so it looks like
a sandwich, like this.
Focus.
Look at that.
Oh, that looks delicious.
So walking outside leads on nicely to number two, what we like about-
No, no, no, no, no, listen there, because it was too loud.
I did actually.
So film me this way.
So yeah, we were saying, so people were saying, like, why have you moved to Manila and why
are you not, like, near the beach or, like, in a province?
And I suppose the answer is mainly for convenience.
Firstly, we love Manila.
Yes, we love beaches, yes, we love countryside, but we also love cities.
Also, there's a huge international airport here, so it's super convenient if we ever
needed to fly home.
And other countries.
And, yeah, to any other countries, it's all very, very easy.
And around the Philippines.
And around the Philippines, yeah, exactly.
So I guess it's mainly convenience, and there's great Wi-Fi here, so we can rely on that a
bit more than if we were in a little village somewhere with them.
I mean, if you want daily vlogs, we need to be somewhere with good Wi-Fi.
But yeah, that's kind of the reason why we're in Manila, but we do really love it anyway,
and especially Buluzu.
Yeah.
And one of the main, one of the other main reasons we wanted to actually have a base
in the first place was so we can go away on trips, and then sometimes come back and
edit.
Rather than struggle with no Wi-Fi, trying to get vlogs up whilst we're away, we can
actually film, and then come back, spend a few days editing.
So Manila, with all its convenience, is good for that.
Lucy.
All right, reason number three.
Sorry, but I don't know what's going on with my hair today.
I keep playing with it.
I reckon just do this for the day.
Just have it down and see what happens.
All right.
Number three.
The BGC cats.
There are so many cats here.
Quite honestly, I don't think anyone quite understands how I feel.
I know I always say it, but they make me want to cry, and I don't know why.
Oh, they just freaked out when that cyclist.
This is a blind one.
That one's blind, I think.
So as I was saying, number three.
The third reason that we love BGC is how green it is.
Isn't that four?
Wasn't it three cats?
Oh yeah, number four.
How green it is.
How green they've made the city.
They've bought in a ton of trees, especially this area at the bottom of the high street.
It's just really nice because otherwise it would just literally be buildings,
but the whole place is so green.
The high street in general is great for all the shops and stuff along here.
There's Ethan Cash, which is the place we get our trainers all cleaned.
Hello.
And there's loads of different shops here, like clothes shops, technology shops.
There's malls.
I don't know.
I feel like we rarely need to leave BGC if we need to buy a certain thing.
We had to go to McCarthy a couple of times, haven't we?
Yeah.
For like...
Furniture and stuff.
Furniture, yeah, but most things are here.
There's also Market Market at the top here, which we're going to have a quick look around today.
We haven't been here yet.
We've been here before, but we haven't been here when we've had an apartment.
Yeah, true.
That's a game changer.
Like that?
Yeah.
Guys, we're coming to Ace Hardware because Lucy needs some stuff for her plants.
She is now a gardener on our balcony.
And I was going to say about the music, this is the first time we've heard a Christmas song this year.
So Merry Christmas, everybody.
It's September, the official start of Christmas in the Philippines.
Basically, my issue is I threw all the tomato seeds into one pot.
Fifty-five of them have come up, and now they're going to be too crowded to grow.
Lucy's taking this really seriously, by the way, guys.
Yeah, I'm not joking.
Stop laughing.
It's not funny.
Completely lost count of what number we're on, but number five or six, coffee.
In particular, this.
So good.
And look who else is here.
Look who showed up.
All right, guys, we've been back a couple of hours now.
Just finished editing up tonight's vlog.
That is 11% exporting.
I don't know how many of you guys make videos, but there's quite a lot that goes into videos.
Obviously, we film all day most days.
Then we have to load the clips onto hard drives and laptops.
We keep a backup of those clips.
Then we load them into the editing software that we use.
Then we edit.
That takes a couple of hours.
Then we have to export.
That takes like 20 minutes, half an hour on our Mac.
Then we have to upload.
Luckily, the internet in the apartment is super fast.
We can upload in about six or seven minutes, which is a dream come true.
That's another thing.
I think we got to five.
We last saw you guys when...
You are a hero.
I think we last saw...
We last saw you guys when we were grabbing coffee with Mike and Nelly.
Oh, delicious red wine.
Red wine.
Great to be seeing more of those guys.
Actually, we should add a special ninth reason why we chose BGC because Mike and Nelly are just around the corner.
They're in Makati.
There's no reason that we didn't really choose Makati other than the fact that we kind of prefer BGC, I think.
There's no negative reason why we didn't choose Makati.
We actually did look at apartments in Makati.
Then we were like, oh, BGC would be cool.
I think we just prefer the neighborhood here.
I don't know.
I guess so.
I don't know why.
I don't know.
We like traveling between both anyway.
We're in Makati quite a lot.
The vlog I've just edited was the one you saw yesterday, which was us going to the Sunday market.
I don't know what number we got to, but another reason we chose BGC was the nightlife and the bars.
You can see this video here where we went out with some other vloggers, had a really fun time.
There's some secret bars we didn't even know about in BGC, which are really cool.
And the final reason, even though there's loads more, but just to keep it succinct.
Is that a word?
Succinct?
What does that mean?
I don't know.
Maybe it is a word, but what would you say?
I think it's a word, like keep it neat kind of thing.
It's convenience.
From Manila airport, we can fly pretty much anywhere in the world.
The airport works pretty efficiently.
We can get there in about half an hour with a grab.
And not just the airport, other things like, I mentioned this in an interview we did recently.
You can do road trips north and south.
Yeah, we're still trying to figure out where we should go, by the way.
If you guys, we want to do a road trip, okay?
Lucy and I, just three, four nights, something like that from Manila, either north or south.
Some people are saying don't go north at the moment because the weather, the landslides, mountainous roads, a bit dangerous.
If you could help us out with like a little road trip plan.
Maybe somewhere we haven't been before.
Somewhere we have been before is fine as well.
We do like revisiting places and doing things that we missed or didn't see.
We also love the fact that it's so vibrant here all the time.
When we were out the other night, we ended up walking home at about three in the morning.
And there were just loads of people going about their day at three in the morning.
Like shops were open, restaurants were open, bars were open.
I don't know, it just felt...
The city that never sleeps.
Yeah, it's like the city that never sleeps.
That's New York I think.
Version two, Asia.
The Asian city that never sleeps.
Anyway, we're going to have dinner now, guys.
Thanks for watching today's vlog.
Hope you enjoyed it.
Lucy's cooking up.
Let me show you quickly what we've got.
Similar to last night, I think.
We've got some chicken, vegetables.
Veggie tables.
Delicious.
A bit of courgette ovo.
Aubergine.
I don't know why I'm abbreviating it to the same amount of syllables.
Oh no, one less.
Carrot, beans, chicken.
Cooked up with some garlic oil, olive oil.
Expansion cold pressed olive oil.
Garlic, onion, salt and pepper.
How long roughly?
Four minutes.
A bit of hummus and bread and a bit of cold meat.
Cool.
We will actually end this vlog in bed.
Sounds weird.
Sounds weird, but I want to quickly talk about something before I go to sleep tonight with you guys.
We'll see you there.
