During the Warring States period, the two great powers of Qin and Chu were at loggerheads, and some small states, for the sake of their own interests, suddenly turned to Qin, and suddenly came close to Chu, always using one of them as a friend to fight against the attack of the other great power. Qin, on the other hand, also used the tactic of fighting and pulling, sometimes drawing in this one to fight that one, and sometimes befriending that one to teach this one a lesson. The less powerful states, such as Zhao, Wei, Han, Song, etc., all threw themselves into the hands of Qin at one time, approached Chu at another time, and then harmonized with Qi at another time, without a stable policy, and the result was inevitably weakening and perishing.
During the Warring States period, the two great powers of Qin and Chu were at loggerheads.
And some small states, for the sake of their own interests, suddenly turned to Qin.
And suddenly came close to Chu, always using one of them as a friend to fight against the attack of the other great power.
Qin, on the other hand, also used the tactic of fighting and pulling, sometimes drawing in this one to fight that one.
And sometimes befriending that one to teach this one a lesson.
The less powerful states, such as Zhao, Wei, Han, Song, etc., all threw themselves into the hands of Qin at one time,
approached Chu at another time, and then harmonized with Qi at another time, without a stable policy,
and the result was inevitably weakening and perishing.
In 314 B.C., Qin continuously attacked the east, capturing Zhao and Qi of Wei, and defeating Korea at Ximen.
These two countries had to throw themselves into Qin's embrace, and the three countries formed a block opposing Qi and Chu.
In 312 B.C., the two groups were in a mixed battle.
Chu first crushed Korea, while Qin immediately saved Korea and attacked Chu, and defeated Chu in the Battle of Danyang,
and then defeated Chu again in the Battle of Lanshan.
After successive victories, Qin tore up the previous three states' alliance, and pushed forward to Han, Wei and Zhao,
while Chu sat back and did nothing to save them.
As a result, Han and Wei had to ask for help from Qi, and the three states of Qi, Han, and Wei joined together
and immediately attacked Chu, forcing it to obey Qi.
Qin was also frightened by the momentum of the three states' cooperation,
so it was busy to express its intention to make peace with Qi by sending King Jingying to Qi as a hostage,
and inviting King Mengchang of Qi to Qin as a prime minister.
However, this plan soon failed.
Worried that the alliance between Qi and Qin would jeopardize their own interests,
Zhao instigated an alliance with Qin and Song to fight against Qi.
Qi, Han and Wei then attacked Qin, and Qin was forced to return the territories it had previously seized from Han and Wei.
In short, in order to survive, a small state must rely on a big state.
However, as the situation between countries changed from day to day, they had to adjust their strategies at any time.
And it was only a matter of time before they turned to or away from a certain big country,
the so-called Qin, Chu, and much ado about nothing.
