good morning guys welcome to another
video on the channel today's a little
bit different this video is going to be
a you know it means something this video
we're in Cebu right now and we know that
the one thing about Cebu which I'm very
interested in personally is that they
make guitars they make incredible
handmade acoustic guitars Cebu is known
for it especially Mactan where we're
staying right now to sponsor and a quick
Fun Factory and the reason that is so
well known for guitars is because in the
Spanish colonial times the people here
that needed air controller specs used
after second to Mexico to get repaired
but then the people that nice so today
we're going over to Alegre guitar
factory I think they know we're coming
and we're going to check out how they
make the guitars I don't get to play a
few and have a little look around
so onto the video thank you come on the
video book to grab so I think we should
go right now
[Music]
so we write to allegra guitar factory
this place is awesome they're like
spraying guitars outside a small kind of
opening here and they've got some of the
different types of wood here yeah we
just met a guy who will introduce you to
in a second I think you see has one more
I do have one more fun fact it probably
is one of many fun facts oh I'm pretty
far are you gonna are you gonna glade
discourses holy things are you gonna get
it right this time I'm gonna get a ride
George do you think here for the facts
wrong but I say I'm afraid that's one of
my like a document to a serious document
you here may see really she needs to get
her facts right now renamed in 1961
originally it was called Oakland village
okay that was commissioned by the
Spanish
see see why mean fact-checking Lucy
Spanish Spanish Friars that's my boys
mr. Bay Commission's the townspeople and
kind of cool them I think maybe that was
like a whole new business fair okay
focus are making all right let's go meet
this guy he's gonna tell us about the
word here a little bit basically with
the guitars use different types of wood
for different sounds similar to like the
bracing here so all of these different
shapes they all help to create a
different kind of acoustic sound what
was your name sorry I'm George
we make youtube videos so we just wanted
to like come in and this is unique to
Cebu it's known for guitars yeah and you
you play as well
sorry about the wood so everyone we're
just all so different sounds yeah so we
used important words like seed are from
Canada German screws angle misperception
we use police Anderson tactical mission
the most expensive issue from the
Philippine would use charcoal use black
ebony mango occasionally
people like order them you make
lineament but you yeah you can also
where's the shop there's money alright
so we can have a look at that afterwards
oh nice
cool so they've got the back three-tier
and then the shop just next door over
there
very very cool I have no idea what all
these tools are what all these I
recognize this fretboard yeah it's very
clever making guitars is like super
complicated to get to get everything
right
yeah even once you have the guitar built
setting up with the action which is how
close the strings are to the fretboard
the truss rods like there's so many
micro adjustments on guitars even once
it's built yeah it sing even like the
inlays mother-of-pearl
so some guitars are like here extra
detail and all the issues
a balloon show the fretboard is mother
yeah really nice I love this down the
middle nice Allegra's a family name so
some family businesses so they write
Jason was just telling us that they make
15 pieces a week here and different
people work on different parts of the
guitar so there's like so once you get
your tie it's been handled by a few
different people all handmade all made
from words there's oh we were just in
time tours just rocks up there we're
ahead of the tour
[Music]
I'm gonna go and check out the store now
I just bought an electric guitar
but I still need an acoustic guitar I've
no idea how I'd get this back to Manila
I don't think we have I think it's a
book like a whole extra being when you
fly with guitars
[Music]
[Music]
nice I've never made a guitar made from
mango
[Music]
very nice

[Music]
very nice
130 thousand thirty thousand pesos
guitar it's very shiny
[Music]
what kind of price ranges do you go from
here what's like the cheapest and the
most expensive and the most expensive is
65 65 it feels really nice like the it's
quite a thick neck but shape is pretty
unique if you look at this I love this
kind of binding this is one piece of
wood Wow there's often often with
guitars they use two different pieces of
wood and put their glue them together in
the middle this is one solid piece of
wood here it's a maze incredible and
this is an electric acoustic so you can
plug this in you can do a open mic night
well does it take it was made on 29th
September this year Wow
famous baby can see you guys on it's
nice and still solid so it's still got
good weight to it
that's a very nice size this this is an
upgraded woody woody would be if you if
you're not a regular via the channel
I've got a tiny guitar which I take it's
not another six strings but this could
be a nice little replace not replacement
sorry woody a little uh little brother
for woody or the family name here on the
guitar on the headstock can we look at
the expensive one mister just to see in
the other room really big showroom have
really big store and they send the
temperature in here perfect conditions
for the wood special one
from Indian Indian rosewood it's
beautiful really earlier natural color
the wood you got the shell kind of
passing through the middle just maple
okay it's like natural color
Wow stunning this feels lovely I love
that there's a mother-of-pearl here yeah
mother-of-pearl inlays as well but it
feels special because you can see all
the all the details lastly hue
Wow I've never seen that never seen that
on a guitar the way that goes around
that's incredible
[Music]
ooh nice who's loud
[Music]
we tried plugging in

so coming along this street as we were
driving here in the taxi we saw like a
lot of different guitar stores ukulele
stores is there a lot of competition
yeah is it a problem or you have a good
reputation here if I think it's a huge
part of the culture it's a new families
starting to make guitars like anything
brand-new other other companies know so
it's all traditional family businesses
amazing so though there's been a party
going on out here
[Music]

you know I've no idea to play this I
don't play bass guitars I was kind of
guessing sounded Oh Jason
winter-like one more question
so when the family business started nice
to be seven years
so was it obviously a lot smaller this
was yeah this is like quite big really
okay I was it just him making them on
his iron and just like setting making
make one sour about boss commercial yeah
[Music]
Wow so what what part the guitar gets
built first is it like what's like the
process you build the body first or the
neck first the song wait yes yeah
because we have a model here yeah okay
so you need first the soundboard the
bracings foot and post with the neck
then followed by the side boy and you
said the the most expensive one the
expense one played was one and a half
months to make that yeah yeah for the
cheap ones how long this is in one week
yeah right okay well you can see the
different level of what if it's our and
the quality the woods how much care goes
into it and that's why that's why some
people say people who don't know guitars
they might look at two girls think
that's cheap that's expensive but they
look the same
yeah this is why a lot more time goes
into it it's the higher quality words
and the finishing the detail the sound
of the guitars with the design of the
bracing and the acoustics Jason thank
you so much really good to me thank you
[Music]
[Applause]
[Applause]
