Welcome to the Philippines.
Garlic. Chuck some cloves into mud and you get garlic plants.
Errands. Errands has been the theme of the morning. Good morning guys, welcome to the vlog.
This morning I've been out, I'd like to say bright and early, but Lucy and I had a very late night last night
so we didn't get much sleep.
Bought a sourdough from Robinson's because they do the best sourdough, which means I can now instruct Lucy to make us breakfast.
Hey, don't put your finger in my mouth. I then picked up some fresh coconut water, sadly in plastic.
We often get the glass bottles if you've seen on Instagram,
but that is good for some quick hydration. And I saw this milk which I use for coffee.
Well, no, I've never used this for coffee in my life.
For some reason, I don't like the coffee, the normal milk from the supermarkets for the coffee we make here at home.
So picked up, I don't know, this is
Santa Maria Dairy.
I actually didn't look at the price.
But I'm guessing it was similar to Holly's. We often get Holly's Farm. If this isn't good, I can order Holly's...
The receipt's probably in the bag. This is when Lucy goes, why don't you ever check prices?
And then it's going to be like 700 pesos for a bit of milk.
I think the receipt's here.
The receipt's here with the change. We'll scrunch it up. But guys, I've got to tell you that today
it's gonna be a
fun day. I know, the coffee machine is louder than your first switch on. I'm also balancing the camera on our other filter coffee machines.
I'm gonna have to be really gentle here, but we are long overdue a coffee.
So I'm gonna make my coffee whilst talking to you guys about today and what's going on today.
Today's very exciting because one of our... right, I'm gonna have to be so careful.
Basically, one of our friends from the UK is currently traveling Asia.
She's been to Thailand, similar route to we did years ago, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore.
Nice, beautiful.
Toby's doing me proud.
Oh, tip by the way, if you do buy Toby's Beans at home, get the big bag because this works out.
It's a kilogram bag, but it works out a little bit cheaper. Save like 200-300 pesos.
Yeah, she is one of our very good friends from the UK and today, right, I think like 20 minutes ago,
I think she landed at Manila Airport in the Philippines. Her first ever time in the Philippines with her friend she's been traveling with.
Which is so exciting. We always love it when we hear that friends are coming to the Philippines.
Because there's still this thing guys that, I don't know, like government advice or to be fair in the UK,
the government advice says to avoid certain areas.
But all they talk about is Palawan and like one or two beaches.
As Lucy and I've discovered, as you guys know if you watch these videos,
there's so much more to explore and do and see in the Philippines.
So today is gonna be, she's gonna come around our place a little bit later,
have a coffee, see our apartment and stuff like that.
And then we're gonna take her out in BGC, show her our local area and go to some dinner and some food and stuff like that.
She's in the Philippines for two weeks, I think.
Also picked up two of these new
yellow mugs, which are slightly better size for like a flat white and then we still got our
slightly smaller ones as well, which Lucy prefers.
Delicious eggs on sourdough, courtesy of the wonderful Miss Lucy.
Thank you very much.
This place is looking spick and span.
We've got a cleaner in there at the moment, sorting the apartment out.
Friends arriving in a few hours.
All right, breakfast is ready.
Breakfast done.
Errands done.
Coffee done.
Cleaning done.
Doing done.
We've just been watching some YouTube with our breakfast and want to say a huge congratulations
to these guys, our friends Kim and Tom, who
This is Kim's dream by the way.
Who just announced they are expecting a baby.
So congratulations to you guys.
So, so happy for you.
They're back in the UK at the moment.
If you haven't watched their channel and we just ruined that for you, we're sorry.
If you don't watch them, go check out Kim's channel, Kim Ensign.
Hello.
Hi.
Ah, delivery. Okay, we'll come down and get it. Thank you.
Thanks.
You guys will figure out what that was
in a video coming very soon.
So we've come into BDC Life Street now.
We're just doing some filming for a brand that you'll see very, very soon on the channel.
But now,
we're going to do a little food shop
and then Hannah's getting here with her friend.
Have you said she's coming with a friend? Yeah.
The travelling duo.
Across the Philippines.
We're going to grab a bottle of wine from the shop and maybe some snacks
when they arrive.
But it's so exciting, having people
here that we know
is weird for us because we walk around these streets all the time.
We live here
obviously, and we spend a lot of time
here. So having
other people walking the same paths and going
to the same restaurants as we like to go to,
it's kind of mind-blowing.
Another thing is that with Hannah, she was
saying with us before when we saw her at Christmas, she was like,
guys, you've made me so, so excited for the Philippines
from your videos. So I kind of like
to think that we've influenced her to spend
quite a lot of time here on her trip. And also
some of the places she's going, we've given her recommendations
for. So the fact that we're able... Ow!
Sorry! I just totally stepped on Lucy's foot.
I'm just in the middle of filming as well.
I wanted to add a point.
I'm still not done with my point.
So you can stand back over there and carry on filming.
Ow! So knowing that our
videos and our Instagrams and stuff are getting
people to come and travel to the Philippines
is awesome for us and helping the
tourism here because it's such a cool place. And the fact that
we can encourage as many friends and family
to come here as possible is a win.
Yes. And the weird thing is...
Well, not the weird thing. The cool thing is...
Can I try it on your toe? No!
Because I've got Ultra Boost on. Don't want to ruin the Ultra Boost.
One of the cool things is...
Is that like actual feet?
Hannah actually is someone who I used to work
with in my...
If you guys know our back story
before we did YouTube full time, we had
corporate jobs in the UK. Hannah
used to sit like... My desk was here and Hannah used to
sit behind me. We worked together, which is crazy.
Hannah used to be on BBC High School with you.
That's weird. We were friends from work. We were friends before
that as well, from university actually. So
Hannah and I go back a long way. We worked together.
I forgot about you being at uni together.
That's so weird. So it's really...
It's cool. We've both gone from that
corporate... I don't know. We sat in an office
together to then being in Manila
and both travelling.
It's really cool. It's crazy. I don't think...
If someone had told you that you'd be in Manila with Hannah at your
old work, you'd have believed them. No, exactly.
You'd have been like, what? You're showing Hannah around
your home in Manila. Yeah.
Right, you're going to buy some wine. Yeah.
I'm going to do some editing. Give me your money.
No, I don't want to hold your hand. Aww, I thought you were being romantic.
Alright.
I'll swap that for the apartment key. Oh yeah.
Fair trade. Which I need.
I think I've got the best deal here, guys. I don't really
enjoy shopping. I do enjoy editing.
Alright, see you soon. I love editing too, but
I guess life is not always about that.
Alright, don't be long.
Alright, guys. It's time for me
to edit up what we just filmed out in the high street.
I'm against the clock a little bit.
Our guests are on the way. They've ordered a Grab driver.
Hannah just texted and said she had a great
interaction with the Grab driver already.
She's already seeing how friendly the Filipino people
are, which I'm super happy about.
Then we're going to have a few drinks here, and then I think
we're going to head maybe to Wildflower.
I'd like to take them along BGC High Street
and show them that stretch. So maybe we can do a little
walk. It's going to be around sunset time as well,
so the lighting's going to be super nice. Perfect weather today
to show someone BGC Metro Manila
for the first time. And then we're going to
figure out what food they like.
We might take them to Wildflower. We might take them to a Japanese
restaurant.
And then we're going to go for some drinks afterwards.
Check out a few bars. It's Thursday night, and I think
I think that's Lucy.
Yes, it is Lucy with the
wine. How did you get on?
It's so stressful. Why?
It's so hot Thursday.
People are just going mental
in the shop, panic buying and stuff.
Everyone was just barging and stuff.
Oh really? It was like everyone was
booing out of the way.
You're here.
It's on now.
They're here. Our guests are here.
We're in the Philippines.
Finally in the Philippines. We've had a coffee.
We're going to go get some dinner soon. We're going to give them the grand tour
of the apartment, which takes about
four seconds.
This is the bedroom.
Oh guys.
Look at the clothes they're wearing.
I love these prints.
These were here when we got there. They're nice, aren't they?
Lucy chose that.
This is very nice.
Thank you.
Let's see the view.
It's quite a low wall.
Don't fall.
Are you scared of heights?
Get back.
Don't worry. I'll guard you.
This is a good time.
You get this sunset thingy going on here.
I'm going to lean a little bit.
Try not to lean.
The mountains over there as well.
It's so nice.
You're really scared.
Come back.
Don't worry.
It's a beautiful view.
It's a lovely apartment.
I can't believe you can see the sunset.
Let's quickly interview Hannah.
Is the lighting good?
The lighting is lovely.
Do I look tan?
You're way more tan than George.
It's your first time in the Philippines.
Where are you going?
What's your plan?
It should be Maggie's question.
Are you the planner?
We're going to Cebu on Saturday.
And then Palawan.
Nice.
You've got two weeks, right?
Three weeks.
Any suggestions, gang?
Where should we go?
Why don't we go to the place you guys suggested?
Siargao.
It's amazing.
There's loads of places we could suggest.
Yes, please.
Manila is so nice.
Everyone's super friendly.
Our Grab driver was a dream, wasn't he?
Hannah got married off on the way here.
When we go out tonight, you'll realise how friendly the people are.
Are we going to go and see Shekinah?
There's a bar we can go to after dinner.
Are you guys free tonight?
You haven't got other plans?
We've only sketched it in for an hour.
Nice to see you.
See you later.
There's a cool bar.
We've got a friend who works there.
It's super friendly.
It's so good to see both of these guys.
I've only just met you.
Where are you, Rory?
Thanks for having us, guys.
It's lovely to see your home.
Nice to have you here.
Your new hometown and country.
Welcome to the Philippines.
We're heading for dinner soon.
Lucy is currently trying to help the guys plan their trip.
They've got 11 days.
Cebu, flight to Cebu, and then out of Cebu.
11 days in the middle.
Palawan, 10 days.
Then back to Manila.
Is that right?
I'm trying to figure it out.
I want them to move very quickly around.
They can see as many places as possible.
George says they should take it slower.
We're trying to figure out what islands to go to in that time.
It's frustrating because there are so many good ones.
I don't want them to miss out on really cool stuff.
You guys need to come back for longer.
We'll come back.
Guys, get in the comments.
Help these guys out.
Let us know where you think they should travel from.
Help us plan their trip.
There's potential that we may join you.
We are headed to Wildflower tonight.
We were trying to figure out what restaurant to take them to.
We're going to go to a few different spots.
Some of our favourite places in BGC.
For drinks and different bits of food.
We're starting in Wildflower.
Guys, we've come into Wildflower.
We're going to show these guys Wildflower.
It's one of our favourite spots.
We're saying how empty it is.
I've never seen it like this.
On Saturday and Sunday mornings this place is packed.
I don't think it will be this weekend.
Maybe not this weekend.
Fingers crossed the street food market in BGC is open.
We're going to take those guys here.
Take these guys there.
We're going to get the brandy ice cream.
And maybe some other stuff as well.
If it's open.
Have you learnt how to say thank you yet?
He said comestas.
That's like how are you.
That is French.
Comestas.
Say your name.
Thank you.
Salamat.
Salamat is how it's spelt.
Salamat po.
Po is polite.
If they're older than you or you want to be polite.
Salamat po.
It's more respectful.
Salamat.
Does that mean hello?
No.
It means thank you.
No.
Hello.
They just say hello.
Hello and salamat.
Salamat po.
Salamat.
Salamat po.
I've got to work on my pronunciation.
I hope she is.
Yes.
This is our friend Shekinah.
This is our friend.
Nice to meet you.
Lovely to meet you.
Hi, how are you?
Good to see you.
