By far the biggest impact with regard to reducing patient mortality in the hospitals, and in any medical setting is adequate hygiene. The number one method to enhance hygiene in the clinical setting, is appropriate hand washing. As a result this very basic skill, is considered part of the Clinical skills curriculum, and should be mastered by all medical students before they attend their clinical blocks. In this video we look at hand washing techniques using soap, and how to disinfect the hands using gel.
