MAKING A FAKE TURKEY FOR THANKSGIVING
This year we decided to host a Friendsgiving at our home for a few friends and it was all gluten free. We usually find fake turkey loaves to feed the girls, however this year we couldn't find the one we usually buy that is gluten free. So, we had an idea to make our own, but we had no idea if it would turn out well or be a huge fail.
Here's what this is
supposed to look like.
It's stuffed, it's got carrots
and celery in it, and.
We're going to see how this turns out.
She did get injured in the process,
cut her finger a little bit.
All right, guys, I made a fake turkey.
OK? I hope it's delicious.
Good morning, everybody.
Hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving.
Speaking of Thanksgiving,
today
we are celebrating our friends giving.
And it's really our Thanksgiving.
We went to my family's yesterday
spent the day with them,
but we didn't actually eat anything
because of gluten.
Every Shabbat is Thanksgiving,
but this one, we're
spending the night before
with our friends,
with a traditional Thanksgiving dinner
and a not so traditional
Thanksgiving meal that John has crafted.
Look.
And it is called Tofu Turkey.
Don't act like you've
never heard of this.
It's a vegan turkey roast.
So at Thanksgiving,
we used to always buy this
fake turkey roast and it was pretty good,
but we can't ever find it in the stores.
Normally we buy there's
a brand called Quorn,
and they make really good like
vegan things, and they had a fake turkey
that was gluten free
and everything we could have wanted.
And I can't find it anywhere this year.
So
sad day.
Jon came to the rescue and decided
to make his own with tofu
and tomato paste.
And
I'll link the recipe,
if you're interested.
It's stuffed.
It's got carrots and celery in it, and.
We're going to see how this turns out.
Turning it into a bake
now or some sort of log shape.
It looks good. You did a good job of it.
better than I was going to do.
Well, that is part of the reason.
That you jumped in to the Rescue.
At Grams house.
They had brownies
and half of them had rainbow
sprinkles mixed in it, man.
OK, well then we won't be giving you
any of these pie
pie pumpkin pumpkin pie
pie, pumpkin pumpkin pie,
pumpkin pies, My oh my I love that pie.
out of the kitchen.
Mommy made pumpkin pie.
I made peach and blueberry crunch.
OK.
And I made gluten free,
challah bread and a cute little baby,
with what was left over.
I didn't want to waste it.
I also made a real turkey.
I'm about to get that,
I guess after this bakes
I'm going to pop that in the oven.
Then we need mashed potatoes,
stuffing, green beans,
which I prepped last night.
I really like French cut green beans.
For green bean casserole,
they did not have any, so I hand cut
like four bags of
fresh green beans last night
, which was tedious
and maybe not worth it.
I'm not sure, but.
Whatever mommy wants...
We'll see uh, corn.
what else do we have to make.
Mac and cheese. Mac and cheese.
Anyway, it's going to be a great day.
We're going to have a great day
prepping and then we are going to have
the best Friendsgiving ever.
What did you say?
Oh, I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
Don't bounce too hard.
Don't bounce too hard.
The baby's bouncing too hard, dad.
Was it too hard? Yes.
Here's what
this is supposed to look like.
We will see if it turns out
I didn't put stuffing in, though
we did just carrots and celery.
So we will see how it turns out.
Oh my goodness.
Look at this amazing bread.
Look, look. Gluten free.
Does that look soft?
Gluten free.
So we got some spinach
artichoke dip started here.
Turkey started here.
The tofurkey came out.
It looks like it's going to taste good.
Let's see.
Elena peeled the potatoes.
Got a little bit of mess, but it's her
first time
and she did pretty good, did a good job.
She did get injured in the process,
cut her finger a little bit
and then and just a little bit.
And then I was making...
finishing for her
and I cut my finger, which shows
that,
you know, we can all get hurt right?
None of us is too good to get hurt
by a potato peeler.
Even grandmas. That's true.
How many grandmas out there
still cutting themselves
on potato peelers?
Raise your hands. I don't know.
Wow!
Look at the speed and the accuracy.
AHHH!
that would scare you guys.
Real bad. That was.
Yeah please don't.
All right.
The whole crew is here.
It's a party. up in here.
a party up in here a party up in here.
Why aren't you dancing, Aron?
Come on, you're ruining my video.
A party up in here.
Happy Thanksgiving.
We have 1,000,000 children here,
which we always do anyway.
This is Aaron. Hello.
And this is Aron.
double A.
Are y'all the same person?
I don't know.
It's the only reason
why we can coexist in the same house
is because there's a difference.
one A. of letters.
So and because I'm only one
a, I'm just slightly below.
Thank you, Thank you. Come on people.
He's epic Aaron that's nature Aron.
Nature Aron?
I've never heard that.
What, because he eats grass?
and I don't use the bathroom indoors.
And that's
what we get to deal with today.
All right, guys, look at this spread.
We've got a delicious
looking meal happening here.
I just want the real food to come out.
I know. this is like appetizers.
All right, girls,
come sit down time to eat!
Alright guys, I made a fake turkey, OK?
I hope it's delicious.
But be honest,
No, that is not the fake turkey.
I wish. Maybe next year.
Alright y'all reay?
We're about to say some blessings here.
Blessed, are you Lord
our god king of the universe.
Who has sanctified us in your word
and given us Yeshua
our messiah and commanded
us to be light to the world.
You shall love the Lord
your God with all your heart,
with all your soul
and with all your strength.
On the seventh day,
God finished his work of creation.
So he rested from all his work
and Yah blessed the seventh day
and declared it holy
because it was the day when he rested
from all his work of creation.
Shabbat Shalom.
So as you can see, we ate,
we had conversation, we laughed
and just had a great evening with each other.
I forgot to mention that the tofu turkey
turned out pretty good.
Most of our girls ate it and enjoyed it.
I will say it could’ve used a little more seasoning.
But nothing a little salt can’t fix.
We ended the night with delicious desserts
and more conversation that could have
gone on for hours.
You know you’ve found good friends
when it’s gotten late
and you don’t know where the time went.
I wouldn’t have ended this
friendsgiving any other way.
And we can’t wait til next year.
Dishes done.
We've got a bowl of scraps
for the chickens
they're going to love that
the dogs had some turkey they loved it.
Jon is ready for bed.
It's midnight.
Is it only midnight?
This is an early night.
Usually when we have friends
over, it's til like two.
Hi, buddy. Hey.
look at those ears.
Oh my goodness.
You're so cute and I love them so much?
Look. Jon.
That's a wrap on our Friendsgiving,
but it's only the start
of our rest today.
Shabbat Shalom.
Our friends are coming back tomorrow
so we can study the
scripture together and
hang out and rest
and just enjoy each other's company,
because that is what life is all about
the people you love.
All right, I'm going to bed.
Love you guys. We'll see you soon.
