WE ARE BACK! Huge Culture Shock after Leaving UK

[Music] good morning guys welcome to day two of our trip if you didn't see yesterday's vlog we drove here to france we're in france in lille in what is our first vacation as a family the boys here lucy's here in around a year i'm gonna say it's just under a year it's just under a year and lucy and i have never been properly trusted we did one day in monaco years ago yeah it was two or three hours as part of a cruise so this really is our first trip to france which is crazy if you think about how close it is to the uk but if you follow the channel you know we haven't even been in the uk much in the last four or five years anyway so we are staying at mama shelter they've hooked us up with three nights and we're currently enjoying their breakfast there's a buffet breakfast lucy has got i mean you had to get a load of cheese cheese and pastry and a pancake amazing look at this butter how nice is this oh yeah wow it looks like i don't know it's probably really normal here but in england butter is not possible that looks very fancy thing that you peel yeah yeah that's true that's true so the plan today is to go and explore the city uh we've got a few i mean it's us it's gonna be food and drink it's gonna be coffee that's our main kind of hit listed criteria isn't it so we've got a lot planned lucy's done a lot of planning and yeah i'm going to finish off our breakfast and head out so today's actually a sunday and everything is so quiet it's already what time is it 11 or 10 months oh refreshing it's so quiet i don't get this in england in the uk really it's crazy there's literally there's a few cars out but we're not the only people walking around all the shops are closed literally every restaurant and shop is closed i don't think i've seen anything open yet everything's been like boarded up with these bigger shutters and everything hopefully where we're going it's going to be open because we're both in need of a good coffee but wait isn't it it's kind of spooky it's like a ghost town yeah okay a couple more minutes around the corner and this is where everyone's going this is where everyone's been this is really really nice i don't know where this reminds me of so far maybe yeah i mean actually for me nowhere that i've really been it's actually reminding me more of england which sounds strange i'll just do a quick classic juicy vlog 360. so you guys can see around here i'm very lucky with the weather today as well gorgeous and sunny and yeah a few more people out now so that does give me hope that the coffee shop will actually indeed be open they've got these palm these trees here as well which goes so nicely with these buildings and the shadow on the ground so cool wow how good does it feel to be traveling this does not feel like it's an hour away from london i know why have we not been here before well it's a good point we drove if you saw um yesterday or the previous vlog we drove here but you can actually just get the train directly from london straight into here basically which would be so quick and easy so quick and easy not at the coffee shop sadly however it's taking us a while it's take us a while because there's so much nice stuff to look at this is the gran gone loose get your french in order i know i think grand place the grand okay this is the glass wow i mean come on people out sitting eating drinking enjoying the sunday this place is coming live a little bit now i think that a lot of shops are closed because it's sunday but i think the restaurants and stuff is organizing so that's fine by us absolutely that's why we're here great food great drink great coffee [Music] [Music] okay we've got our first flat white in france at a place called tampa which we saw on a youtube video so we kind of recommended to come here that's very good he's about to get your espresso that's really nice i got it with oatmeal oh that's really nice okay this could be the coffee spot yeah we have these mugs i can't remember we got them i don't know we've got them somewhere it's so nice people having breakfast we're going to head to a bakery after this because there's a very famous pastry you want to try here we're going to try that and we've got koda in his cute little outfit today outfit little navy dungarees with this little shirt that has photos so i went for a breakfast called egg which seems to comprise of eggs bacon cheese toast i love this thick toast and a little bit of salad as well looks amazing okay breakfast was amazing and now we are at a place lucy found which is famous for pastries and cakes and things like that and i have to say they look unbelievable don't they yeah really good that's what it's famous for what's on the side okay okay this is what they're famous for creme laguer vanille and a fleur de yes i really just want to get one plain croissant as well croissant croissant i never i can't even say that in england france coda's looking after mummy's hat do you want to try it on you can try it [Music] no maybe it's a bit big [Music] [Music] um no don't do that let's go to the park we have found a spot to eat our pastries just been walking through this park and we're gonna sit on the grass here lucy also bought our books so we might have a little read here out and have him lie down yeah blanket and stuff stretch out it's so so peaceful it was really like a nice place it's such a good place to come for the family isn't it yeah i mean we don't know what it's like on other weekdays this is a sunday but i mean this is where we currently are there's people just chilling someone's sunbathing with a dog some kind of group thing going on over there someone doing boxing but we are just gonna take some shade under this tree have our little snack read our books for a while and chill okay so we've got our spot a little set up in the park coda's doing some tummy time on a little blanket that i bought out with us we also bought our books out i've never read this before i bought it for one pound on amazon tom it was tom wasn't it who recommended we read this tom lowry from keto family and from kim and tom um so i'm gonna maybe make a start on that george's got his book code is just chilling out with some toys having some fresh air and we're going to try these pastries so this is the famous one this is the was it small fish it's not a small fish chicken oh i don't know no it's not chicken it's always like a greg's chicken bake smells good i think it's got um vanilla cream with orange blossom oh it's very like squirted at the bottom oh my god is it good is it all over my chin a little bit yeah that's amazing it's sweat gum yeah you're good um a slight orangey taste but it's so good it's really nice it's quite delicate uh not too sweet as well which i don't like things that are too too sweet unless i'm eating sweets if that makes sense sweets obviously can be too sweet but when it's like this kind of thing it's not sickly i can imagine eating quite a few of these pastries 10 out of 10 and then they'll pastry the croissant and then this is i don't i asked what flavour it was it just looked really nice it's got the little sticker from the place you went to it they said it was an apricot filling with um a sugar frosting that's really nice that is lovely again not too sweet delicious it's like a soft biscuit okay we're coming to a craft beer place now we've got a tray of food we've got these fries with melted cheese all over them some chicken tenders and a delicious session ipa so good and it's so warm outside it's about 26 degrees which we're not used to so it's nice to come inside cool down is having a nap which is amazing and they can just refuel with some yummy food but i do feel like anything you mentioned at some point okay we said this would be food and drink focused and we were not wrong i picked up an iced coffee and lucy has just picked up from this place on the street which has a rather impressive queue going down the side of it if someone has a queue i'm going it means it's good wow insane yeah that's just i never it was so embarrassing i tried to say it and i really messed up i was like can i have this stress see and then she helped me i was like thank you you know when it's like vanilla with chocolate chips wow i mean it looks amazing is it good a few hours later now and the three of us coder included just had the best snap i can't tell you how good it feels to have like a three hour nap in the middle well maybe some of you know maybe maybe some of you enough no but i mean we were like slumbering for three hours so we're back to the room we thought let's make this more sustainable we used to go all day every day but with the baby and our lack of sleep in general anyway it's just not possible so had about a three hour nap and then we were just walking out literally five minutes from the hotel and we found this pizza place called [Music] i mean this is italian now they're called this called this and it just looks really cool it had curb appeal as they say and we thought we would stop in and have a little bit of pizza so we've ordered a pepperoni and a very special dessert really really helpful um girl who worked here helps with the menu sorry you wanted people making pizza behind me oh yeah um yes where are you from why are you here i said well we're from england and we got very lost but she also said that she thinks that we can find our happiness here and i thought that was such a cute yeah that is so nice so we're excited for our pizza they also do like a pizza dessert thing that we ordered and these guys are currently making up the pizza for us okay we found a spot on these steps looking back at all the hustle and bustle going on there some really busy restaurants down there we found a quiet place which is quite cool you're gonna you're getting getting straight in there yeah you've got a picture oh that looks amazing it's a good we went for a classic pepperoni you know when sometimes the dough is quite tough and you've got to like you know yeah yeah it's nice and soft wow and then for dessert we've got this incredible sweet pizza with some nuts and loads of sort of nutella drizzled all over it and we both said this is the best pizza we've ever had i don't know how i've just said that but it's the best pizza i've ever eaten in my life insane i know italy it's known for pizza but unreal unbelievable the softest dough the most amazing tomato sauce the loveliest pepperoni and a very nice view as well [Music] you
