Planting some hot peppers in large pots. This worked ok this year, so I'll maybe try it again. #gardening #growyourownfood #garden
Hey folks, welcome to Green Hat Gardening.
Today we're going to plant some
Roma Tomatoes.
I'm going to try something a little bit different
in this pot.
I've got these tomato peaches.
This ends up being
a wild card, so I'm going to do something that probably a lot of people are not going to agree with me with.
I'm going to cut the ends off of these things.
I'll try to here.
The reason for that is that these wobble so much, and I think
if I have this firmer base
that
I put it down into the bottom of the pot,
it will help it
be a bit more stable
in the long term.
It's going to take a little bit of effort.
But I can use these later with steaks or even something to
if I need to wire something up, and that won't go to waste.
Nothing in the garden ever goes to waste.
There we go.
Now, that's even and level.
Now what we're going to do is fill it with soil.
I don't know if it needs all of this.
Maybe a little more.
That might be a little low.
Look how stable that is.
In fact, I think I may be able to do this.
I've got that ring about level with this.
I've got one more pot of these.
I think I've got
not necessarily in the best of shape.
I think I've got a third one.
What you want to do with these
is we're going to bury it
about that far anyway.
Tear it off.
Same thing with the other one.
Take its vital limbs off.
That will force it to grow roots.
Just like that.
Way deep.
It will come out better in the long run.
That little berry wouldn't be so small.
It may not even live.
We'll give these a little dose of fertilizer.
It will help me on the way.
Here's our second one
in our tomato cage.
There's probably an easier way to do this.
These are the tools that I have.
These are the tools that I work with.
I'm going to try to match what I've done with the other thing.
Just keep that ring right there.
About level with the top of the pot.
I found a little more soil here.
It's not going to hurt anything.
All I care is I have a little bit of lip
down the edge like a whole water.
And, same principle with
the Juelma tomatoes.
See, something has eaten
something off of that.
And I know I have...
I know we have some rabbits in the neighborhood.
So I suspect
I suspect my issue with
some of this being eaten is from rabbits.
But, again, we're going to plant this thing
on the three-quarters deep.
Way down in there.
Seems ridiculous, but this trick works.
I have such a good root system.
There, that looks good.
Now, I just have to find a home for them
here in the garden.
So, uh,
Till next time.
Keep digging.
Keep growing.
