Afternoon Tea but Not in the UK?!

Hello guys, welcome to a very luxurious video today. You seem to be doing a lot of luxurious things at the moment, George. I'm not sure what's happening. Not yet. We're just having a little look. Yeah. Maybe some more time. We are at the Peninsula Hotel today. We're actually checking out this afternoon, but we've got a special checkout that we don't need to check out until 10 PM, which is kind of crazy. We will be asleep longer for then. So we're definitely checking out way before 10 PM so we can get back. Coda woke us up at 5 AM this morning, so we're feeling slightly on the tired side, but we are definitely awake enough to enjoy what we're about to do, which is an afternoon tea. Now it's actually a Turkish themed one. We're British people in Manila eating a Turkish themed British afternoon tea. Like it's a bit of a confusing time, but we're very, very much looking forward to it. We need to make our tea selection first and then we'll show you the food when it arrives. So yes, I kind of feel like I'm home. I remember sitting in more or less this exact spot a few years ago. And having an afternoon tea here, it was something we wanted to come and do when we discovered that you could indeed have an afternoon tea in Manila. Very British thing to do. The last time we were here, there was a French chef. So the afternoon tea had like a French theme. Some of you guys may even been around. Comment below if you've been around that long on the channel and you remember the vlogs. Sat in this beautiful lobby. I've said it in the last couple of vlogs, but I'll show you again. If you've missed them. Peninsula lobby is just, it's something else. It really is something else. The music you can hear behind me is live. There's a guitarist. It's a guy playing like some kind of flute and a guitarist. They often have a pianist up here, but it sounds like they've gone for like a bit of a Turkish theme on the music as well. As Luz said, afternoon tea, a British couple having a British themed afternoon tea with a Turkish twist in Manila in the Philippines. So if you can get your head around that, then you're going to enjoy today's vlog. It actually sounds amazing. They've got, I never know how to pronounce this, baklava or baklava, you know, delicious pistachio flavor. They've got an orange cake. There's truffle oil involved. We've got some eggplant salad. Very much looking forward to this. Perfect. Thank you. Okay. We have an array of treats here. This looks unbelievable. I'm going to quickly read a few of these cause I don't think we're going to go through like every single small item and remember what they are. So we have a compressed watermelon with tomato and pine nuts skewer. We have an eggplant salad on simit. We have marinated beef sumac and pomegranate durum wrap. We have an aged cheese with truffle oil and quail egg. Then we have pistachio baklava, candied pumpkin and walnuts, orange semolina cake, rosé water scones or scones, comment below, scones or scones, k-mac, strawberry jam, and then we have a lemon to lumber. So I recognized about 20% of that menu, but um, it looks amazing. We're going to tuck in. What are you going for first? I was going to say the colors are amazing and the textures that there are, like some things are shiny, some things are fluffy, some things are flaky. Like it's, it's a feast for the eyes as well as hopefully the stomach. Um, I don't know what to go for. Wow, look at the scones. I know, they're massive. Look at the top. Oh yeah. Wow. I'm going to go savory first. I think I'm going to say this, the watermelon. That's not savory. It is. It's watermelon with tomato and pine nut. It's like a savory watermelon. I love that. It's a really nice cheese. Okay. I'm going to go for this, which is the rat. Who's listening? Who can tell me what this was? Cause I've forgotten. Marinated beef, sumac and pomegranate wrap. Very tasty. That beef is good. Ooh, that's the cheese truffle oil and quail egg thing. Nice. Let's try it. Oh my God. Yeah. Mm. Mm. That's really nice. Really tasted truffle. What I was about to say was the big dilemma when you have scones, cream or jam first. Comment below. You split the nation. Not even the nation. You split the world. I am actually controversial. I change it up. I think I'm going to go cream first today. Just offended half of you watching. I'm going to do cream first today. Really? Yeah. Okay. Lucy's saying correct. Look at that. Beautiful. Afternoon tea was amazing. Heading back to the condo. So we will see you there. Bye bye. The final look at this beautiful lobby. They've got a wedding on right now. All right guys, it's now the next day and I don't know what happened yesterday. I think we did so much relaxing at the resort. Do you call it a resort at the hotel? Why are you so excited all of a sudden? I mean, I am as well. Um, gosh, I could never film a vlog clip anymore without being distracted by Koda. And yeah, I think we did so much relaxing that we just were too relaxed and fell asleep at like 6pm. Um, but we got back, unpacked everything. All the washing is done from the trip. I mean, it was only like a short trip, but, and we actually have plans this evening. Koda's going to his very first birthday party. It's his friend's Pablo's sixth birthday. It's friend Pablo's sixth birthday combined with his friend Priscilla's first birthday. So we've got a Barbie slash dinosaur theme. Um, Georgia and Koda are wearing green for the dinosaur and I'm wearing pink for the Barbie. So we'll show outfits in a second before we leave. And we're not going to take the camera because we're going to see, we know like 20 people going. Like it's crazy how many people we know at this party, which you may think, yeah, of course, you know, the people at the party you're going to because you were invited. But what I mean by that is we know so many people that are part of this family and friendship group. And it's so nice that they've invited us to come along and be a part of it with them. And we haven't seen some of these people for years and we can't wait. So it's going to be the people that we used to stay with in Camarines Norte and Diet, Jun, Sarah, and all the kids. And we're going to see them. They're going to look so big. And I think I'm scared because it's going to make me feel really old and it's going to be crazy. We haven't seen them since before COVID. Is that right? Or did they come to Manila since then? My time is warped. I get very confused when I saw people all around the year 2020, because I can't remember when, what happened, if that makes sense. But my, my pinks clash, but it's kind of on purpose. Basically the invite had shades of pink and shades of green that you have to wear. I love it. It's so extra. Anyway, we haven't seen these people in so long. And also Abby and Tops, who are Pat's sister and brother-in-law, like all these members of families and both lots of grandparents for Pablo and Priscilla. And of course our good friends, Pat and Pao as well. So can't wait. Super excited, huge reunion coming up for us, but we are not going to do it on camera because we film everything in our lives and we want to be 100% present this evening and really enjoy it. It's at the Shangri-La Grand Ballroom in BGC. So we're looking forward to seeing that as well. We'll probably share some bits on Instagram as well, knowing us because we can't help it. But anyway, we'll show you guys quickly before we leave what we're wearing, but we do need to leave in a matter of minutes. So I want to stop recording for a second and I'll see you in a second.
