Simplify your Golf Swing by controlling the Takeaway. Do you keep the clubhead outside or inline?

Learn how to create the proper takeaway to hit the ball straight! Using Gears Golf, I changed my swing alignment to improve my swing path and ball flight. You may see Tour Players talk about wanting to keep the clubhead outside their hands on the takeaway, but that may not be what is best for your game. When the clubhead stays outside the hands, there is a chance that the backswing alignment is outside-in, creating the chance to hit fades or slices. The clubhead outside the hands can create a laid-off position at the top of the backswing, making it complicated to transition the club to hit the ball straight. Keep the swing simple by setting the club properly on the takeaway, and then the club gets aligned perfectly at the top of the backswing. This simple position creates a direct transition to hit the ball straight.

Remember, if you get the path of the club outside of 3 degrees, you will be prone to fades and slices.

• Swing simplification: Keeping the clubhead inline at the takeaway helps align the club properly at the top of the backswing, making it easier to hit straight.
• Common mistake: Keeping the club outside the hands can lead to outside-in swings, causing fades or slices.
• Tip for better swing: Avoid a club path outside of 3 degrees to prevent fading and slicing, focusing on proper setup and alignment.
