First Time Trying ROMANIAN FOOD! Epic Feast of Mici, Papanasi, Pork Knuckle & More in Bucharest

today our main mission is to try some authentic Romanian food we cannot wait we've heard such good things about the food one of the main reasons we wanted to come here in the first place so we've got the Salata de vosi [Music] [Music] so we have come now to lunch and everyone that works here thinks we're mad because we're the only people sitting outside they've got a nice tent there with them heaters in and people are taking their coats off um we're sat outside in like one degree I think it's like eight now it's warmed up yeah two or three people have said are you sure we can't move you inside they keep coming over like what we can't go inside inside because they've got a 30 minute wait list it looks cool inside so we definitely want to show you before we leave but it's actually better for the lighting and the sound for trying some food on camera here and we get a beautiful view of the church we saw earlier in the background so it's a win-win I think you help me you think I could help you I like how they serve the drinks so so cool isn't it did you do that for me yeah oh thanks so they give you like separate lemon and ice and then just put as much as you want in go for a little Pepsi Max oh my goodness it tastes different does it that 100% tastes different to the UK yeah it's made in Romania maybe it is slightly different what do you think it tastes sweeter it's quite yummy it tastes like syrup it so we're about to order our food Lucy has done a lot of research on some of the oh i' got a big gap in my Fringe there um the bread um 14 400 fresh eggplant dip yes thank you and then the the pork knuckle but this one like yeah yeah SK okay MIT do you think we should get this as well or is it too much I think it's too much okay and do you think it's the traditional food we order yeah the knck is traditional the the pickles is traditional all all is TR I did some good research yeah sure thank thank you okay he's um I think he was impressed with my order everything I said he was like nice yes good so we've got the mitchi which is a skinless pork sausage served with chips I've lost my menu I actually was a bit of a I mean I call myself a loser or I'm clever call me what you want so I did some research last night and I've screenshot everything I want off the menu this is like midnight last night I was a bit hungry in bed so we've got the Salata deete C kosi wow also known as fresh egg plant dip with cherry tomatoes and flat fried chips to serve yeah there's butter roll oh there's roll coming yeah um the a CaRu subber homemade bread which is served um for two people and it's like it just looks really good I saw some baskets for it earlier we've got orange juice is it nice then we got for Mains the the Mitchy which is a Skinner sausage with chips and mustard which sounds delish and then the national pork knuckle so slow roasted pork knuckle with bra sour cabbage palenta forse reddish and a chili pepper and it's a half portion they do a whole one which look quite impressive but it was like massive and I think we we tried to order the bean soup as well cuz that's very famous in the bread roll but he was like mm-m don't think you should which I respect like they're not trying to upsell and sell me more food than I can eat they were like I think you've got enough food I think you need to chill out especially if you want the donuts for dessert which I already told him about and then we also ordered the um Romanian pickles selection of pickles he said that's very traditional as well and then yeah the Romanian Donuts is what we're going to end with which is a sweet cheese sour cream homemade jam Donuts which we saw a minute ago and look amazing so happy to be here quite hungry this is a late lunch it's now halfast 2 and our breakfast was at like 9:00 so I don't know why I'm not that hungry the breakfast really filled us up this morning I think it's a 40-minute wait for food so by the time the food's here it's going to be like perfect timing for my Hunger levels to not be too high uh but not be too do yeah we can in a minute [Music] sweetheart for the there's one thing we've noticed yeah good idea that bread is very popular in this country warm oh it's warm bread yum Okay so we've got a whole Li of bread as you do um we could actually take get this take egg we've got some cheese in the room we've got the pickles which I was imagine having with the mains but I guess we could have it now um and then we've got the eggplant dip here with these little chips on the side so I think I'm going to start with the eggplant dip cuz quite tempting it's good it's like quite a sule eggplant taste but quite creamy quite Smokey um I'm G to try it with the Tomato as well I feel like that's probably all part of the experience no no why not darling and fly they do fly pigeons and bads do yeah but Penguins don't noeh tomato makes it even more delicious wow very nice but I feel like that would suit a hot day more than a cold day cuz it's very cold it's making me feel colder it's like I'm eing ice cream there's no like olive oil or anything like what you have the bread beiz I really like that it's lovely bread though yeah do you like it so the S it's PR nice it's almost kind a tiny bit sweet yeah to um white bit so fluffy really yummy really yummy good I'm want to try pickle with bread is that a thing I don't know I don't know if everyone's cringy watching me you want to try pickle cool I'm trying this you're trying that okay a pickle with some bread is that a thing I don't know oh yeah cheese o cheese it's not cheese it's bread joking that is delicious that pickle I'm take a picture random that's the nicest pickle I've ever heard I'll take why is it so nice it's like so salty and vinegary wow the perfect crunch not too like floppy that pickles delicious GE I can't explain it thank you thank you well the Plate's nice and warm W that looks good wow it's oh the smell oh that smells delicious and this just looks amazing my goodness it's so big that was that's for one there was a double the size version for two I mean I'm glad we got the one I would happily eat this to myself but what a dish so I think this is our kind of food in this country look at the seasoning around the edge of this it's so cool and the chips look delicious the good chips wow okay so this is pork knuckle right yes oh pulling the knife out it's like it's soft but this is still this is crispy so we've been to the Philippines a lot they have something called crispy P which is pork knuckle it's looking similar so I'm going to oh my goodness I think I need to try some of this skin in first on its own let's try [Music] darling it I'm sorry you don't need to ask me to try it twice we usually film one at a time but I need you to try this right now oh my God just have the skin just the skin he's sad why is he sad just try the skin I just need your skin on its own nothing else steing H that is so nice it's like the nest pork crackling in a Sunday roast you've ever had times 100 but it's like S soft and succulent with tons of flavor the Fat's delicious and it's a tiny thin layer of crackling normally it B like hurts your teeth normally you're like o ow that is insane why did you give this to me and then have to ask for it back I hate you right now okay I'm going to try some of the meat and then some of the other stuff that it comes with as well oh I can't please do this quickly my mou is get over this look at this I cannot wait to get in there we're just like G beautiful let's try we're coming back to Romania I've said it [Music] already M what the flavor it's salty full of flavor oh my goodness I'm going to try I don't know what this yellow palenta so I'll try some of the pent with it let's just get a big mouthful that is delicious compliment it perfectly get these huge pickles with it as well I propped you up there hopefully that look a bit dark is that okay yeah I think so so I'm trying the sausage now and it comes with three pieces of this skinless sausage so I'm not not not sure what to expect here it smells like quite fragrant and quite Herby M yum oh yeah that's really good the herbs are like I'm actually not sure what that is that flavor but it's really nice the chips taste a bit like fish and chip chop chips in the UK and it comes with a little dip which I think said mustard on the menu is that a really spicy mustard M it tastes like a djel mustard but it's a bit less intense oh wow honestly everything we've ordered has been a success I do need to get in with this pork knuckle though and get a bit more of that because I've only tried the skin up to now which was definitely delicious but we need some more we need more where that came from so let's try some of this meat it really looks like gam actually like like I said when George tried it steaming h m tastes so good I wonder how this how long this was cooked for there's brazed cabbage as well here M yum it's like a warm it's almost tastes a bit mustardy it might not be can't quite pick the flavors out in there and then the palenta which is yummy it comes with chili peppers which is funny don't know how spicy they are I'm a bit hesitant just to go in I might should I just do it should I be brave and just try a little bite this may well blow my head off we shall soon find [Music] out it's fine it's not too hot but this is amazing super impressed I think it's really like wintry comfort food this that's what it's reminded me of winter comfort food that you just want to have on a cold day sitting outside can you hear the crunch that Skin's ridic ridiculous what is it so for dessert we have ordered this traditional famous donut kind of dish is there an actual name for the dish I imagine not the donut dish of Romania the donut dish of Romania is what it's called papanasi is what it looks like is how you say it but again apologies for the pronunciation Luc is saying that's completely wrong anyway famous Donuts so they look incredible we we've seen a photo they look amazing however the guy told us that they have sour cream on top and cream cheese so sour cream I don't know but it also has jam and sweetness so maybe it's like a I'm hoping it's going to be like this perfect balance of sweet and saving it's just right and it's like intentional it's the flavors are designed to come together in a certain way but I don't know sour cream on a donut let's see we've been impressed so far so it's about to arrive thank you so much okay amazing thank you guys I hate to interrupt whatever turn around but look might be hot so let's sit down how is that guys just tried the blueberry so far oh darling if you're doing that could we put a bib on you or top this into your cone cuz I can see blueberry stains going on your coat this looks unbelievable oh let's try m m wow that's I don't do desserts often these days liar that is that's not a lie let's try this little mini donut on top that is so if you'd like some actual adjectives other than M and Wows it's covered he's covered it's fine we have to let go relax um delicious so the Donut's really soft and it's not that sweet the actual bread which I like the sour cream's kind of obviously not sweet either but then you've got this like super rich blueberry comp compt kind of thing like a compt thing which is very sweet so having it together the sort of crispy outside and then the soft inside and look how is it C how how do you describe it my uh yeah and what do you what do you think it's like is it really really yummy or is it like fantastic am fantastic or amazing what is it [Music] pantastic but look cool okay so it's always interesting to see the prices of things when we travel so this is our back
