I hope you're all absolutely spot on out
there. Now, I've been shopping to
Iceland. Come and have a look what I
got. About a week ago, I did the luxury
um Indian banquet for one. Well, this is
the excuse me, this is the Chinese
banquet for one. Sweet and sour chicken
with special fried rice and battered
spring rolls, 500 grams. And there is
the serving suggestion. I got a few
messages last time with the Indian
banquet and I didn't know it was a first
for me. Apparently the definition of a
banquet is a group of people sitting
down enjoying a meal. So this is an
actual oxymoron, I was told. Yes, an
oxymoron. I had to Google that as well.
So it's actually saying the opposite of
what it is. A Chinese banquet for one.
So anyway, the price it was £3.75.
So let's take a close look at the
packaging.
Um, and if I haven't bamboozled, yeah,
you I've just have a look um on Google
about the definition of banquet and what
oxymoron means. Um, I had to Google it
as well. So let's um let's just get
straight into it. There it is in there.
It's frozen.
I must admit, my first choice would not
be sweet and sour. I've done a luxury um
special. I think it was a luxury special
curry
uh many moons ago
or it might have been a luxury beef
curry. Yeah. Anyway, this is um sweet
and sour chicken.
A meal for one. You get two um battered
spring rolls and you get a special fried
rice. So, let's go around the back.
Let's have a look at the side first.
We've got some spiel there. Chicken
breast pizzas in a sweet and sour sauce
with special fried rice and battered
spring rolls. Um, there's the spiel
there. It's probably just what I said.
Cooked seared chicken breast chunks in a
sweet and sour sauce. Cooked long grain
white rice with cooked scrambled
omelette. Cooked charu pork peas and
spring onion and battered vegetable
spring rolls. Yes. What a lot of spiel.
There's the ingredients. We've got
allergens of wheat, soya, sesame, egg in
there. So, yeah, cooked seared chicken
chunks 18%, chicken breast 98%.
Cooked white rice 17%.
Spring rolls 10%.
Um, got some nutrition there in more
detail. If you want to have a look at
that and pause it, study it, it's up to
you. I know quite a lot of people are
interested in the nutrition. Must be
watching the weights.
Yeah, my weights are in the garage. I
don't go on them a lot like um anyways
to cook 180° in the air fryer 12
minutes. You can microwave it. You can
do it in the oven from frozen. You can
Yeah, oven from frozen.
There is a procedure. I will follow it
as good as I can. So, I might have
covered everything. If if not, it'll all
be in the description of the video. So,
let's um let's have a look at it and get
it cooking.
So, I'm going to what I'm going to do,
I'm going to do mine in the microwave.
If you do it in the microwave, you've to
remove your spring rolls cuz I'm going
to do them in the air fryer. So, let's
do the seal peel test down here. So, I'm
going to take them out. It gives us a
chance to have a look at them as well.
There they are. Look, it's frozen. You
can see there's a ice there.
Yeah. So, I'm going to put them to one
side and I'm going to zap this in the
microwave.
So, my spring rolls are going in the air
fryer.
So, it's been in the microwave now for
um 8 minutes. What we have to do now, we
have to peel this back. Just be careful.
Oh, it is hot, escaping steam and all
that. Look at that. What you to do now
is to add two tablespoons of water to
your special fried rice. And you to give
them a stir. So, I'm going to give these
a stir.
Yeah, there's plenty of um plenty of
chicken breasts in there. I will count
them when we get them out. There was
there was 10 in the Indian um banquet
for one. So I'm going to add couple of
tablespoons of water to that now. Give
it a stir and I'm going to put that back
in the microwave for another 3 minutes.
So the um the little panc vegetable
rolls of have of popped. That one's um
popped. Never mind.
Never mind.
still get it all in there. Yeah. So, I'm
just waiting on my um I'll show you I'll
show you them. Look,
I'm just waiting on me um my main meal
now that's in the microwave.
They gone quite crisp
vegetable. Oh, it's blowing out there
now.
All right, let's have a look at that.
Bring you down.
So, it's starting to the heat is
starting to sort of buckle that there.
Yeah,
there it is.
I'm going to dish it up.
So,
I'm just going to stick it on there like
that.
All that sauce.
Yeah. Smelling quite sweet that sauce.
These plates, these plates come into
their own here. They keep everything in.
Well, I'm making a bit of a mess here.
We get the We get the um special fried
rice is uh it's very very soggy. Yeah,
it's not looking very appetizing. I only
put a bit of water in like it said.
Yeah.
Yeah. Try and get it all. Try not to
waste anything. Don't like wasting food.
I hate wasting food. Hate it. Hate's a
very strong word, isn't it? I don't like
to use that often, but when it comes to
wasting food,
hate is a word I use.
Let's try not to be too cheffy here.
Quite a lot of vegetables in there as
well. Let's have a look. So, it doesn't
seem as as much. It doesn't seem as much
as the Indian one. Let's have a look at
the chicken. How many bits do you get?
It's seared. Look. I don't know why they
do that. One, two, being they process in
the factory, won't it? So, there's four,
five,
five, six, seven,
eight, nine, 10 bits of chicken you get.
And yeah, you get char pork in here with
um like an eggy omelette, scrambled egg.
Um and then peas.
We've had no escape peas.
Oh dear. Right, I'm going to um I'm
going to cut these open. We'll have a
look what you can see. What's um you can
see inside it. The vegetables gone
everywhere.
Yeah,
I think that that's the one that they
all came out.
Yes. They're nowhere near like what you
get for me Chinese, are they? There's
absolutely nowhere near. I suppose
they're deep fried in your Chinese. That
tea towel's taking a hit. It's taking
one for the team.
Right, let's um let's try it.
So, we'll try this. I'm just going to
get straight in with a bit of chicken.
bit of chicken and um some of the sauce
chunks of chicken. It is actual chicken
breast and not that sort of stuck
together for me chicken.
Um the sauce is it's not overly sweet.
It's not overly sweet. Going to try this
little spring roll. Vegetable spring
roll.
Nothing special. Nothing great.
No. Don't like don't like I'm not keen
on that.
So, I'm going to try a bit of the old um
is it special fried rice or special
rice.
It's quite watery. Quite watery. I did I
just put a little little bit of water
in. Didn't overdo it.
Maybe next time just instead of putting
two tablespoons in, just put one in. Um,
yeah, just needs seasoning for me. Needs
a bit of salt and pepper in in the rice.
Taste the charu pork.
You can't see it, can you?
The chicken's okay. Nice and chunky.
A little bit slippery cuz it's been done
in the microwave.
Um the sauce is
a little bit sweet. There's pineapple
chunks in there. I see.
Love pineapple as well.
I'm going to sort of combine it now. See
if the sauce can counteract. Give it the
rice a bit of flavor.
Yeah,
the sauce is okay. It's quite nice
actually. The sauce
spring rolls
not for me.
Um and and the rice the rice and the
like the omelette eggy bit.
It's not my cup of tea. Um the best part
of that is the chicken breasts and the
sauce.
Not too keen on the rest. Yeah, just my
personal opinion. We're all different,
of course. You You might love it. You
might love it.
Marks out 10.
Five. Five out of 10. Nowhere near as
good as the the Indian version. That was
really really good. Seem to get a lot
more rice as well. Um and you get 10
pieces of chicken as well.
So, thanks for watching. Do appreciate
it. And uh if I could ask you to hit the
subscribe button and give the video a
thumbs up. Can't do any more than that.
So, thanks. Thanks very much. I do
appreciate it.
Take care. All the best. And I'll get
back to you on the next one.
