Starship S36 ready for Final Test but B16 Experienced Damage! Can Flight 10 Still happen this month?
SpaceX makes a big leap with Ship 36 ahead of Flight 10, but Booster 16 issues may delay the timeline.
With June halfway over, is a launch still on track?
Meanwhile, Axiom-4 gets a new launch date, and Blue Origin reveals the crew for its next suborbital flight.
Let’s dive into the details on today’s episode of Great SpaceX.

We are now well into the second half of June, aligning closely with the three to four-week timeframe Elon Musk mentioned shortly after Flight 9 concluded. Because of this, expectations for a Flight 10 launch before the end of the month remain high. In fact, recent activity at Starbase suggests that SpaceX is moving with purpose and momentum to keep that goal within reach.

One of the most significant updates came just a few days ago when SpaceX completed a robust test of Booster 16. This was a crucial step, but now the focus has shifted toward Ship 36, also known as S36.
S36 previously completed its cryogenic proof testing back in late April. Following those tests, the vehicle was transported back to the Production Site where teams likely performed thorough inspections and completed the installation of its Raptor engines. It is reasonable to assume that these processes wrapped up a few weeks ago, meaning S36 is now ready for the next major milestone in its journey toward flight: the static fire test.
In anticipation of this next phase, a road closure was announced from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 15. That same morning, SpaceX confirmed that movement was underway when the Ship test stand was seen being transported to Mega Bay 2. Just a few hours later, with the large doors of Mega Bay 2 wide open, S36 could be seen firmly mounted on the stand. From there, the vehicle made its second journey to the Massey Test Site.

During transport, S36 was visible with its aft flaps already installed. Observers also got a clearer look at both sides of the vehicle. One of the most striking features was the condition of the heat shield, which appeared to have extra layers of adhesive in several sections. This suggests that SpaceX may have reinforced the heat shield more thoroughly than before, likely in preparation for the punishing conditions of atmospheric reentry.
Upon arrival at Massey, S36 was scheduled to be positioned in the static fire test setup. One significant advantage of the Massey Test Site is that it does not require a pre-announced road closure, meaning the static fire test could occur at any moment. This makes the coming days especially exciting, as we anticipate a series of powerful and visually impressive tests that could very well break the relative silence at Starbase.
