Costa Rica: Tropical and Minimalist House Facing the Pacific Ocean
Located on the Papagayo Peninsula, Guanacaste—one of the most exclusive residential areas in northern Costa Rica, just minutes from the Pacific Ocean—Casa Enoki is a conscious response to its immediate surroundings. The project is based on a contemporary reinterpretation of living in a dry tropical climate, where architecture must interact with both the vegetation and the climatic conditions of the site.
The proposal is conceived as a home that seeks to blend with the landscape. The shapes, angles, and proportions of the volume respond to the predominant views of the site, framing them with precision and sensitivity. Through a play of light, open, and modern volumes, the architecture generates spaces that not only connect with each other but also open generously to the exterior, creating visual and atmospheric continuity.
The architectural language is consistent throughout the project, but each space offers a distinct experience. Light, orientation, and the relationship with the surrounding nature allow the interior to subtly transform throughout the day.
Upon entering the first level, you enter a spacious, open space that frames the main view of the property. The common areas are distributed here: a generously proportioned living room, a dining room for twelve, a gourmet kitchen, a bar, a barbecue area, a pool, terraces, and a sunken lounge, all arranged so that the interior and exterior merge into a single architectural gesture. The house doesn't impose itself on the landscape; it accompanies and enhances it.
