The location is ideal, as it is a few steps away from everything, from the airport to the artisan cali.
So, everything here is very easy to walk.
The town of Leo is surrounded by tropical forests, mangroves, trails through nature, to the beach.
And that's why the owners' day is made up of just walking to the cafe,
coming back when they need to, when they need to take a shower, when they need to rest.
Everything is very practical here.
And we didn't want the house to be just on the ground,
but we wanted it to connect and be part of the environment around it.
Hi, I'm Kito.
I'm JC, and we're from Open House Design.
Period. We designed the Vinta House.
This house was really designed to be a resting house for our clients Dombi and Kai.
This lot, where it is now, fell into their lap during the peak of the pandemic,
and that's when we all started to like living outside the city.
The husband had just retired from a job in Manila and wanted to start a new house after Marciere in Elido.
It was important in the design process of the house to reflect the personalities of Doni and Kai.
We had many conversations to determine what their lifestyle was,
their desires and needs.
So, we could also take what they were used to in Manila and kind of translate it
into their new chapter here, in Elido.
In terms of design and personality, I could say that Doni and Kai are really opposites.
Doni likes a fun mix of colors, he likes patterns, while Kai, on the other hand,
gravitates towards the neutral and minimalist palette.
But, fortunately, Doni and Kai shared a common vision,
which was to really have a house that was a tropical refuge,
but still having functionality and practicality in mind.
This aims to connect and open to nature around.
We wanted the paths that lead you through Leo, the natural path,
the walk through nature to the beach, not to end when you crossed the property
through the gates, but to continue and connect with all the internal spaces.
The husband loves to cook and receive guests.
That is why they also wanted a space where he could easily receive and cook for his guests.
You have a more casual and relaxed entertainment space on land
and a more formal and larger space to receive on the second floor.
Given the needs of the house, it required a three-story house and we wanted that,
if you stacked that volume, it could look imposing.
So, one of the challenges we had to solve was really how to design it
so that it would adapt better and look more like a house.
The solution for the house was really the inclined roof.
The roof allowed us to hide the third floor.
If you take a front, it kind of covered the second floor and pressed the third floor.
And that created a kind of curve in the house that extended
throughout the length of the L-shaped format of the house.
By spreading it, we were able to provide space for the solar panels that customers wanted to maximize.
Our design process is always centered on the user.
We believe that preferences, vision, the values of our customers are essential,
or understanding their vision and preferences is essential to ensure that the design we make for
their home is really a perfect reflection of their personalities and lifestyle.
But in the end, a good design should elevate.
A good design shouldn't ruin your lives.
I think a good design
translates into a well-thought-out design.
And that means that each space always has a function or purpose.
And that means that every space we design is really intentional.
