Good morning, great morning. It is just about 4.30. The two little minions are still in their
bed sound asleep. My beautiful wife, who's just a couple weeks away from having her third child,
she's sound asleep. And this is my time to have some dirt time to be able to plan for the day
and then to go and kickstart the day with a great workout. Got a killer workout today.
But first I'm gonna have my coffee. I'm gonna have my magic wine and I'm gonna hit just some
emails and some planning to set up the day. Welcome to the life of a 30 year old real estate
developer, baby. We're gonna kickstart this day off with a crazy effort. Just pulled up to meet
Uncle Connor. We're training for a 240 marathon and so we got a speed session today. It's gonna
be a 10 minute warm-up and then five by eight minute efforts. It's gonna land us at about a
1.3 mile effort right in that six minute pace. So it's gonna be a killer day. It'll be a great
way to start the day and it is our speed workout for the week. We'll see you out there.
Effort done. Frickin smashed it. Smashed it. We did five eight minutes. Each one was around what?
Six minute pace? Yeah, six minute pace. Which at elevation frees down to like 655 average for the
efforts. Okay, okay. We clocked 10 miles. So we got 10 miles of working. Started 5 30. It's just
before seven o'clock now. On my way back to do my favorite time of the day. I promised Christian
yesterday that we would do french toast. So now I'm gonna go home. The little minions should just
about be getting up. Mom is still in bed and we're gonna have some french toast to kick off the
favorite, my favorite part of the day.
Alright, so breakfast is done. I always love those times when I get to hang out with those
little minions. And one of the things I look forward to is coming home and being able to
be with them and see them. That's done now. We had our first meeting. We're closing on a piece of land
tomorrow. So we're gonna be in the office but we're running a little bit late.
It was a meeting with my old man and so he came over which was great. We touched base on what we
needed to get done to close that piece and then he was able to hang out with the boys as well.
So I always love being able to do that. That's the benefit of living so close to the office, right?
Made it easy. Next we're gonna go in. I've got a couple meetings this morning. A couple big ones
on one of the softwares that we use to run our company called Procore. Really good software.
It's really helped us create both systems and scale and allowed us to have good quality control,
good project management, and just deal with the scale that we're trying to push for. This platform
called Procore has been great for that. So we've been meeting with that representative to make sure
we're using it really good and then we'll get rocking into some podcasts, site visits, and
things. So welcome to the day in the life of a 30-year-old developer.
All right, meeting got canceled which if I'm telling the truth I don't even mind because I
don't love those meetings anyways. Now we're going to hit the podcast and then we're going to get
ripping to on-site meetings. We just finished up one of my favorite podcasts that we've done.
Charlie Patterson came on and the energy was flying. It was actually a new experience for me.
I've had a lot of good podcasts but I've never had it just flowing that hard. So I love that
podcast and now it's time to go and see our job sites. We're going to see this 11-lot subdivision,
how our big old rock saw is doing, and how the team's coming
on the infrastructure project of this 11-lot subdivision.
The project is looking really good. This huge rock saw that we brought on, which was super
exciting, it's our first time using it, has allowed us to speed up digging of these trenches
by over two weeks. What would normally take us three weeks to dig our water, our sewer,
and our dry utility trenches, because of the rocks and the depth, has now taken us
just at a week. So we're really excited, especially because we have timelines. This project,
our paving plants close really, really soon, so we had to make this decision to bring it in
and it's paying off. Really happy how the project's going. We're just checking on this neighborhood.
In this neighborhood we have five houses, four that are under construction, one that's up for
sale. Let's go take a look at where they're at in the stage.
Okay, with the site visits done, the rest of the block for the day, so from about
2 all the way to 5 30, we're doing deep work. That's any operational work, that's any meetings
we need to take, there's no, that's internal meetings, we don't have anything else set up.
So this is where we try to get the deep work done, deep project work,
any general business work. Rather than just be all over the place and make up what we do,
we've already set our priorities for this week, what we want to get done, the high priorities
that need to get tackled, and so we go straight to that list and we start knocking it out when
we have these big blocks for productivity. Okay, that is a wrap. We had a phenomenal day.
We kick-started with early morning, just time for myself, getting things teed up,
going over the new process we have for trying to delegate out, the email, the calendar,
went through all of that, and just took that chunk. Then we had a killer workout with my
best friend. I absolutely love being able to do that wonderful thing, and all before 7 o'clock,
I was able to get home, spend my favorite time with the boys, and we had some delicious French
toast, and we had a killer day at work. We got ready to close on a piece of land tomorrow,
we made that wire, tomorrow we'll close on that. It'll be exciting. It's actually right next to
the house that we're buying on the coast. It'll be another project for us there,
literally right next to the house that we have on the coast there, so that'll be exciting.
We were able to do an amazing podcast that I just love with a guy named Charlie Patterson. You guys
stay tuned for that one to come out. It's going to be a killer one, and then we just tackled a
bunch of things. Actually, everything on the high priority list was done by Thursday today,
so that feels really good. Not all weeks go that way, but it was just a great overall day. Projects
are looking good. I'm really, really excited to be able to get home to a beautiful family.
We're looking forward to closing out this week, and I just love and feel so grateful to be able
to be working on our dreams every single day, bringing our dreams to life, the good things,
the bad things, all of it that happens. I truly believe that God does not bring into our life
things that we do not need to either grow through, and then he also blesses us when we need it, so
God brings into our lives the things that we need to grow and blesses us when we need it as well.
With that, guys, thanks for tuning in to the day in the life of a 30-year-old real
estate developer. You know we love you guys, and we will see you on the next one, baby.
