Giving UP Horses?

[Music] Good morning, guys. Welcome to Today I'm outside with little duck. I don't even know what is this duck's name. I forget. Right about now, we are starting to regret that this little duck doesn't have a friend. We've been looking. Pancake, that's his name. You forgot her name. Her name. We think it's a girl because girl calleds are really noisy. Anyway, she's outside getting some sun all alone. I don't feel comfortable just letting her run around the house because she because we have a cat. Really? And even the dogs. The dogs are okay. What are you doing? Oh, so you got something to fix it. Are you telling me that you're going to be able to scoop the poop again? Yeah. Oh, awesome. Come on, little duck. So, somebody got a gift from somebody. It's so cute. Because the other day she said she wanted it. Let's see. What's it called again? It's a laboo keychain. It's a laboo, but it's a keychain. You I looked for some Laboos and you can't find them. Yeah, you got to go to like an actual resources. No, every like they're It's insane. You can't find them. It's so cute. It is so cute. It's a little boo boo. The keychain is actually nice. Princess trouble in paradise. Run, little duck. Anyway, remember I told you guys can't help clean the horse field because he broke the he broke the m he broke the thing, the cart that goes with the tractor. Anyway, he ordered it and it came yesterday, the part, so he can fix it. And that means he can push the poop pile back, too. It's a laboo. A friend gave me these two stands for saddles. Yeah, that one's really nice. I like them. I'm going to clean them, but they're really nice because we have a lot of saddles. I love the way Sophie just chooses a spot separate from all the other saddles just for her saddle. For some reason, I felt like you could fit two on here on that one. Looks good. Let me Let me see. And then it's got this little stand underneath. So, you can put your Do I like Oh, you could maybe fit. Do I like this one more? That one's nicer. Yeah, I like that one. You can put like look, you can stick brushes underneath here and then you can put your your brush bag underneath there. My brush bag's hanging up. Well, I mean one of your hund brush bags. Look at the look at the duck. Oh, she was sitting sitting on her butt. We definitely needed more of these, so I'm glad to have them. I think we should call her a boo boo. Come here, boo boo. Her name's Pancake. All right. Her name is Pancake. Her name is Pancake after her mom. Her mom is named Waffle. So she's Pancake. Is Maple syrup. And the next one is going to be called Maple. Maple syrup. So why is our new boy goat called Oreo McFlurry? Cuz he looks like an Oreo McFlurry. Cuz he looks like an Oreo McFlurry. I guess that's a clue on what he looks like. I don't even I don't even really know exactly what color he is other than he's a buckskin with white. So he says that every goat to me is a buckskin with white. I'm like that's one thing that confuses me. I've like studied and studied and studied colors but a lot of people say that their goats arericolor and I've read that most cuz there are noricolor in Nigerian dwarf goats and that most goats that people say arericolor are buckskin but I feel like I can find a buckskin like I can always pick out a buck skin. So buckskin us doesn't mean like you know in horses buckskin is a specific color in goats there is in goats buckskin just means that they have a black cape and usually they're black and tan but there could be any color of buckskin as long as you can see that black cape on the top then usually you're dealing with a buckskin but it can be really hard because like say for example uh toffee is our buckskin I think I think Winston's a buckskin too. But anyways, Toffee is our buckskin and she h she's mostly white so you can see but with her you can see she has a clear black cape dark cape on the top of her shoulders so you can tell that she's a buckskin but to some people that would be they would call thatricolor even though it's actually buckskin. Anyways it's true like there are a lot of buckskin goats out there a lot. I feel like that's the most common color even though it's not the most dominant color but it is a super dominant color. It's the second dominant color, but there are a lot of buckskin. But also about buckskin, you guys probably don't care. I love it. The other thing about them is that they look super flashy. That's why people like buckskin is because they can look at our toffee. She's super flashy. Buckskin babies tend to be the flashiest babies because they have lots of white all over them and they can have moon spots. They just have like they have so many colors versus like a plain goat like our plain chocolate goat. Anyway, enough about buckskins. Maybe it's a sign. Maybe our next horse will be a buckskin. But to be honest, at this point, I'm not thinking I want another horse. Unless it's a mini. And actually, I've been feeling like we're for sure going to get another mini. Not now, but one day. Somehow, this tree has fallen down. I used to be able to walk into this thing and not walk right into this tree. I think it happened in the ice storm. What happened? Oh my gosh. You already did it. They're like, "What is that?" Oh, look. She's almost as big as him. She wants to go in the water. She does. There's like a little There's a little ramp. There's a ramp. Go up the ramp. Anyway, we decided to bring the duck over here with the other ducks just to see how it would go. Remember I told you ducks are kind? I like chickens. A look, that's her mom. Her mom likes her. Oh, F is like, "What is that?" That's your baby. That's your dad. Did he just attack her? He's attacking her. Oh my gosh. It's a bad duck. Got scared. That's what happens when you have kids. They're crazy. [Laughter] Hey, she gets hurt. Uhoh. Uhoh. Sophie, get her. She's scared. Come here. That's what happens when you bite off more than you can chew. Sophie, get her. I feel like it would have all been fine if she had attacked everybody. Like, that's her new family. He's like, "What?" Now, now we can't get her. She's hiding. Her mama is going to her again. I love Waffles. She's so sweet. Like, she just wants to love the baby. She doesn't want to hurt the baby. The baby wants to hurt. I know. Obviously, they can't be together yet. It's still too cold outside as well. Baby totally accepted them so well because they were Yeah. A She's like, I hope he's sitting on a nest. She's still going to need a baby. Okay, the weirdest thing happened. Literally the weirdest thing. I was looking out the window today and I saw flowers where I've never planted flowers. And if you guys are gardeners, you know that birds carry seeds and they just drop them in their poop wherever they want. And at our last house, we lived there for 2 years. That's what happened. And then suddenly every time I'd walk outside, I'd see this yucka plant in my garden. What happened? What happened? What happened? You broke it again. Why? Well, at least we got the poop pile cleaned up. I don't know why it bent. It bent. Look at I think these are poppies. These are poppies. I've never grown poppies in my life. Yeah, they're like some kind of poppy. They're gorgeous. Oh my gosh. So, I look out the window and I see these flowers and I'm like, how the heck did we get these poppies here? They have never grown here before. This is our third summer. So, somebody has been planting poppies in our garden. Isn't that crazy? They are gorgeous. I'm going to go plant some poppies now, though. They're so nice. I didn't even notice that they were here at all. I do not like being over here where there could be snakes, but there's Oh, shoot. I broke one. Broke another one. They are gorgeous. Oh my gosh. Look at it. It's amazing. I actually love getting free things. I love getting free things. I always get these try treat boxes for when my grandkids come. And honestly, no matter what else we're eating, they always devour the whole thing. We have two treats left. Two and a half treats left. They've devoured the whole rest of the package. This one is near and dear to my heart, though, because it was Italy. The box of treats was based on Italy, Italian treats. And if you guys don't know, Sam was Sam's parents, Sam's dad was born in Italy and he was raised Italian. His grandma had a huge influence in his life growing up. So Italy was a really fun box for me. And I love these try treats because you literally get information about Italy. It like my grandson Jack has learned so much just from being so excited about getting a box each time he comes. I always forget to share my code. I have 15% off. And one thing I didn't do, but I'm going to do next time is they include included this chart and it says best, worst, and weirdest. And then it has a list of all the snacks in your box. And then everybody can vote for what they liked and what they didn't like. That's super fun. I still can't believe we have poppies. Did you see the poppies? Our giant poppies. There's seeds on the middle of them. Yeah. And I Okay, cuz I put those seeds in my garden. You put those seeds in your garden? Yeah. You took them from the poppies in there? It was dead. Okay. Yeah. Where did you get it? From the one inside, Sophie, it was dead. Okay, there's one inside. I was drying it out. You have to dry the seeds out before I was going to plant them next year. I love them. They're amazing. I've never planted poppies before. I planted them. Holy heck. So, still haven't got to my garden, but Sam did. Well, he started. That's cool. I like what he did. So, he plant in this particular section. Made that. Yeah. Like right here? Why you want to do that? I want to see how it works. Yeah, right there is fine. I don't think that works. It works good for me. Oh, cuz you lost everything. Anyway, look at these big things. I think they're I think they're um cauliflower maybe. Are those my carrots? And what are these? I don't even remember what these are. Everything looks huge though after the rain. It's been raining for days. It's like growing. Oh, and then he put little little things for my pepper plants. You have peppers? Yep. I got everything I need. It's like garden, but not red. It's like what? Look at your carrots are springing up. Mhm. Before you couldn't even see them and now they're growing. So, I'm just going to leave them. I'm just going to leave them. Did I get impatient? No, we're just going to leave them and see what happens. Only two rows came up, though. Anyways, Sunday is Father's Day. Today's Wednesday. Sunday is Father's Day. And I bought Sam a present. Okay, so on Mother's Day, let me tell you the backstory, you guys. On Mother's Day, he gave me a really nice hydrogen uh water bottle, and I love it. I don't like this around here. I don't like it around there either. It like makes it look I know. I need to clean this up. I need like a really I've fallen here so many times. I know. I know. So have I. They brought me this hydrogen water bottle, which I love. I wanted it so bad. He already had one and I was jealous and I wanted my own. It's so good. It has like natural health benefits. Super excited about it. So, he bought it for me and I was so excited and he told me that the reason he bought it for me was because he lost the charging cord for his. So, he wanted to he wanted me to have one so he could share my charging cord. Yeah. So, payback on Father's Day, you guys. I bought him something that I'm really excited about. Hopefully, he shares it. I read today some other people put copper in their water troughs and it doesn't work. It looks like to me it's starting to get a little bit more green. I don't think it works. I really don't think it works. Look at I got the pig waiting to go in and I got the chicken. Are you friends? I know. I just wanted to get a side picture of you. Isn't he so cute? He's so cute. He's like a dog. And he's doing so much better now that he's neutered. Yeah. What? Just waiting for the lights to be turned on. Hi, babe. Oh, I wanted to cut that off. I was going to put it on Winston. You want to put that one on Winston? All right. You can just make a new one. Yeah. No, let's put it on Winston, but it was so easy to catch him. So easy to catch him because of the collar. Like I'm holding him for a reason. So his mom, he has the face of his mom. Let me show you. He's heavy. What the heck? So, no, you're pig. Mom, you're pig. Get out of that chicken food. [Music] No. Get in there, crazy boy. I know. You sound like your your boy. So, I love this look. It's like this look. Well, you can't really tell, but it almost looks like he has a turned up nose, but his mom has the same face. I also love a really bald face. He's heavy. I'm putting him away. I just want to feel his I've been I've been tired the last couple of days. It's normal to be tired sometimes. The difference between being tired and not having energy are totally different. So, right now, the last couple of days have been kind of tired and that's just normal. Having no energy is a totally different feeling. It's like you lack energy in your cells. Like you physically can't get up and go. So, Sophie rode a lady today and they had such a good ride. And our barn is having the first show of the season this weekend. And I'm kind of like I'm kind of sad that we're not going to be there. But at the same time, I feel like our family is growing and changing like families do. Next show if me and Lady were. You want to go to the next show? Maybe. I don't wait till the last one. It depends how lady is. Yeah. Anyway, families grow and change all the time. And in some ways it sucks, but in some ways it doesn't suck. Like the girls are not into horses the way that they used to be. And that's okay. I'm just not into showing. Yeah, Sophie's still into horses and that's okay. But it's different. It's just different now. Like our horses are our pets, not our show horses. And that's okay, too. You can't be in here or you're going to all freak out. It literally feels like to me though, like I feel a little bit of a loss from it. But at the same time, I love having them home and knowing that we can have them forever. But also, God gave us the goats. And lately, because Sophie's always with her friends, I feel like I've been getting into the goats a lot. She's still into them, but it's been becoming like an obsession with me. I love watching them run in. Um, and I'm like starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Like before I wondered like the girls plan to move out in a couple of years. So hope you'll be 16 this year. Yeah, girls. No. And they plan to move out in 3 years and it everything will be different and the horses will be different. The horses will be pretty old by then. My horse will be 23. Penny will be 23. Storm will be 22. like our our herd is aging. You little rat. Sophie's struggling. Don't. But now with the goats, it's like a whole new thing. It's like a thing that I'm I It's like a part of my journey that is kind of being created for me. And even though Sophie does it with me, and I love that she does it with me, and I hope that she does it with me forever. I'm going to show my goats. I'm going to start showing my goats. I'm going to do it with a friend. So, are you going to come to my first goat show? I don't really have a choice. No, you don't have to come. What goat are you showing? Uh, I'm showing Posh. Posh. Baby Posh. So, you're showing my goat. She's your goat. Yeah. She's going to love her. She hasn't even met her yet. She's exactly like Oakley. But funny. Funny funny. I hate her. Do you hate Oakley? She's annoying. Yeah, Posh is annoying, too. smiling Lola. She's sweet, but she stays out of your business. Yeah, it's true. Lola's easier. But anyways, I feel like I'm making a ton of connections in the goats like we did when the girls were growing up with the horses. I don't know. I just feel like there's this whole new journey coming for me that will happen when the girls are gone. Anyways, I don't know why I'm trying to say that. I feel like the horse our horse life is slowly going away. Even though we'll keep our horses and we love them. I do want to get a miniature horse one day for myself. But not now. Not anytime soon. But I don't know that we'll ever buy another horse. Like another regularsized horse, a regular I don't know that we'll ever buy another horse other than a mini. Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that even though our life is changing and our kids are growing up and life on the farm is changing, I'm really excited about the direction that it's going. I'm obsessed with the goats. I love the goats. They're more manageable. They're easy to manage. They're small and I'm loving homesteading and and becoming self-sufficient. And um this year has really honestly shown me so much of the future that I can that Sam and I can make on our own when our kids are gone. And before I couldn't see that just the way you are, just the way you came. Don't you know that you're beautiful?
