Hello and welcome to 2 Minute Watches. Today we've got a Longines Hydro Conquest GMT.
This is the black variant, I think it also comes in blue and a green sunburst. So the main thing
we'll notice from the previous versions is the change in dial layout. You've got a mixture of
baton indicators but also round indices at the nine and six o'clock. Having seen some of the
feedback online I think that's what people find a bit annoying, is the change in design language.
A bit of baton, a bit of round seems to be a mishmash of both and it's not to everyone's
taste let's say. You've also got the kind of diamond at our hand, a little bit like the
snowflake on the Tudor but not quite. So you've got quite a few different shapes at play here
well actually it is a diamond because it's kind of more of a kind of like a rhombus than a square
that's inverted. Anyway you've got a circle, seconds hand and then you've got the variety
of indicators. So you've got quite a few different things going on here and maybe it's
less elegant, less clean, less simple but equally it's new, it's fresh, probably modern I'd say.
You've also got the pop of the orange on the hour hand, give it its GMT function which is nice
and that's reflected in the GMT text on the dial. The dial is kind of like a matte black
which it's neither, I tend to say it's neither the enamel kind of, the enamel dial which kind
of has that sheen to it but not that kind of flashy sunburst either and I wasn't sure what
to think of it actually seeing in person because the fact that you've got a quite a shiny ceramic
bezel along with various different shapes and contours and textures I think it probably is
all right to have something a bit more muted and it actually quite works out to balance out the
watch given there's a lot of things going on anyway. For example just look at the way the
light shines on various different polished hands, you've got so many different hands at different
angles the light is going to pop in different directions so you probably don't need a sunburst
dial to go with it. You've got the crown, signed crown there, also crown guards which is a bit
a bit hit and miss it does make the watch a bit bulky it's already over 50 millimeters lug to lug
so it's quite it's quite rectangle already in terms of the case shape so that only serves to
make it more blocky but it does protect the crown so you've got that. You've got a nice
H-link bracelet there, very solid. You've got a sort of case back with the Longines
logo housing the L888 movement so that's kind of the Swatch Group's 3.5 hertz 64 hour power reserve
and you've got the signed clasp there. Helpfully this also has a a micro adjust just going to go
here we go which makes it a lot easier to use honestly. Starting to get to the point where I
think a lot of brands are adding on the fly adjustments to their bracelets so something
like this is welcomed and you're going up from Seiko you know Seiko the prospect range getting to
near a thousand pounds RRP and then you start to head towards the kind of omega
three four five six grand and so Longines hits that kind of two grand spot maybe along with
other brands like Oris where you get things like that on the fly adjustment GMT function
and so there is not a lot to go on that's kind of maybe entry luxury or mid-range luxury
so this is pretty much one of the few options out there. I'm just putting it on my 6.2 inch wrist
as you people who watch my videos know 6.2 inch wrist is very small so there is going to be
overhang with the although the case size 41 the lug to lug is about 50 and that makes it
for example a bit more has more presence.
