ULURU ROADTRIP. Wish We Knew This Before Going

Hell yeah, check that out. I'm Bec and this is Chris and we swapped our comfy home for this and now for this four-wheel drive bus. We've been traveling Australia for 12 months and sharing the adventures along the way. Time to set off on our Red Centre adventure. First stop is El Donde Roadhouse and then we're going to continue from there to Eulala which is just 20 minutes outside We are officially in the red dirt which is not ideal for for our white walls That is some red dust Hello, who did this to my food? Thank you It's like they just destroyed it Oh no Here quickly just go grab it Definitely worth the trip. Is it the best rock you've ever seen? Oh it's up there on my list of rocks. I don't have an active list of rocks to be honest with you but I would say that's one of the better ones Never thought on our travels we would be making lunch with Uluru over there just in reach We are taking photos from the bus window. Sitting on the bus drinking chardonnay out of our coffee cups watching the sunset at Uluru. This is a magical magical place and magical moment. We've both been saying there's something seriously unusual about this place no matter how many photos you've seen of it it's completely different in real life and you just need to see it Check that out We've gotten back to camp and it is absolutely freezing at night here in Uluru so for anyone that is planning a trip here make sure you come very prepared. Basically as soon as the sun goes down the whole environment in the desert loses its heat. There's no water to help regulate the temperature and you get cold fast. Tomorrow morning bright and early Chris and I are going to explore Katajita National Park. We can see it from Uluru and it's the lesser known area. A lot of people don't talk about it but it is awesome. It's a series of huge red domes and it looks like a great place to explore so we're going to do the Wolpa Gorge hike. Let's go check out the As you can see it's slightly cold like it's freezing. I reckon it probably went to negative temperatures last night. Yeah definitely. Thank god we've got diesel here. Do you expect this to be in Uluru? I definitely don't. It's such a nice surprise You come here expecting just dust and barren and you get like wild gardens. We had to leave Katajita National Park in a hurry yesterday because my family have come to visit and we went to meet them at Uluru right in time for sunset. It was amazing to have them in the bus for the first time. They're all six foot plus so it was not very comfy for them in there. After sunset at Uluru we started with the Field of Lights tour which is a bit of a must here. It's an art installation of around 50,000 solar powered lights and it's bigger than seven football fields plus you have Uluru in the background. It is an awesome tour well worth seeing. And then today we rented bikes and rode around exploring the base of Uluru which is actually 10 kilometers in distance. We definitely recommend riding depending on your timing because it is quite a lengthy walk. I can't share much of that ride because a lot of Uluru is sacred to the traditional owners of the land and photos and videos strictly cannot be shared of most of it. In 1985 the land was legally returned to the Inangu people, the traditional owners, and the cultural center of Uluru is a trip highlight. You can't take videos there either but make sure you visit it if you go. Traditional owners have said this is Inangu land and you're welcome. Look around and learn in order to understand Inangu and also understand that our culture is strong and alive. Inangu also say to listen to the country so on that I'm going to stop talking and you can listen to what it sounds like at Uluru. Now we sadly have to leave Uluru so we are taking the corrugated red dirt track called Ernest Giles Road from Alice Springs to Kings Canyon. Uluru and Kata Judah National Park both exceeded our expectations. It was spectacular. Thanks so much for watching guys. Likes, comments and subscribes make a huge difference for us.
