SpaceX's Dragon Upgraded Interior BETTER than Soyuz, Starliner, even Shuttle!
Crafting a spacecraft is a monumental challenge that tests even the brightest engineering minds in the world.
It’s not just about making it fly, every system inside must safeguard astronauts’ lives and secure precious cargo, a make-or-break factor for any vehicle, whether it’s Starliner, Soyuz, the Space Shuttle, or Dragon.
But for SpaceX, that’s merely the starting line.
They’ve redefined the astronaut experience with the upgraded, cutting-edge interior of Dragon’s capsule, not only ensuring safety but delivering unparalleled comfort that leaves every passenger in awe, earning endless praise from those who’ve flown aboard this revolutionary spacecraft.
Let’s dive into today’s episode of Tech Map to find out why Dragon is better than the others.

This is the amazing astronaut Suni Williams. Look at that bright smile, she’s even waving at everyone! It’s safe to say she and her crew had a fantastic time aboard SpaceX’s Crew Dragon.
Sure, part of that joy comes from finally returning to Earth after being stuck on the International Space Station with Butch Wilmore for 286 days.
But the real reason behind that excitement? She’s never flown on a spacecraft this modern, this safe, and this comfortable. It truly blew her away.
Her reactions and feelings about Dragon are priceless, after all, in her 27-year career, she’s flown on four different spacecraft: NASA’s Space Shuttle, Roscosmos’ Soyuz, Boeing’s Starliner, and SpaceX’s Dragon. Each one gave her a unique experience, so if she has any feedback, you better believe the project managers of those vehicles are taking notes like crazy.

At a press conference after their splashdown at Johnson Space Center in Houston on March 31, 2025, Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore both expressed satisfaction with the Crew-9 rescue mission.
Suni said, “Dragon is truly an amazing vehicle. We felt safe and well supported throughout the entire trip back.”
Butch agreed, adding, “The journey home was smooth. Dragon performed exactly as expected, from leaving the ISS all the way to splashdown. I have full confidence in this system.”
Both emphasized that Dragon proved its reliability, especially compared to Boeing’s Starliner, which left them stranded due to a helium leak and engine failure.
