José Jiménez Aranda (1837–1903): Genre and Plein Air Artist

José Jiménez Aranda was a master of genre painting and a key figure in the Plein air movement that spread across France and Europe. Known for his skillful technique and attention to detail, Aranda spent nearly a decade in France before returning to Spain to mentor the next generation of artists in his atelier.

His younger brother Luis Jiménez Aranda, whom José personally tutored, later earned a scholarship to study in Rome and eventually settled in France as a citizen and established artist. Both brothers were widely respected for their craftsmanship and dedication to the art world.
