MP James Bezan's Speech at the 33rd Falun Dafa Anniversary
"We come as Canadians from many diverse backgrounds, cultures and religions, and we know that we are united when we are fighting for these principles. So the torturous oppression of the Chinese Communist Party of Falun Gong practitioners is an atrocity the Chinese government in Beijing must be held to account, and those that are profiteering from the prosecution, the torture and illegal organ harvesting must be brought to justice. Now, I am proud to bring forward the magnitsky law in the House of Commons and work with my colleague back in the day, Senator Reno Amber Chuck, make sure that those gross human violators are abusing their positions of power in countries around the world, but including in Beijing, must be held to account. There is no reason why those bureaucrats, doctors, corrupt, business people should be able to bring their families and their wealth to Canada and use us as a safe haven when they have really benefited from the torture and the atrocities against Falun Dafa. We know that the practice of Falun Dafa is something that is peaceful. It is something that you as Canadians have the right to do, the right to assembly, freedom of religion, the freedom of expression, and yet we know that those in so many other places of the world continue to be persecuted for those very beliefs. So we have to stop these brutal crimes against all citizens, regardless of religion, regardless of their practices, whether it is, you know, the Abrahamic faiths, whether it is selling DAPA, but those people that want to silence us and will go to the to the actual, arrest, prosecution and murder of individuals based upon their faith must stop. So we know that with the magnitsky law that the government can hold to account those that want to take advantage of the markets, the free freedom that we have here in Canada to hide their families and their wealth, as well as themselves. These crimes have to stop. So I'll continue to use my voice as a member of parliament to stand up and speak out for Falun Gong practitioners. I'll continue to talk about the injustice that is happening in China today and the threat that they are to world peace. No, we are blessed to live here in Canada, democratic country. You know, we're sitting outside of the parliament buildings, the People's parliament, where we all get to benefit from having a voice in government, like I just took my seat in Parliament for the eighth time. It's not my seat, it's a seat of the people of Selkirk, Interlake, Eastman, who elected me, and so I will continue to be their voice, but I will use my position to also be your voice in Parliament to fight against the injustices that are occurring in."
