Excalibur How To: Installing EX-Shox Technology
These X-shocks need to go on now.
These provide a really nice sound dampening effect.
It's already got these reds on here,
which are also sound dampening,
and then these on the limbs as well.
So this is, you know, a very, very quiet bow,
but we just need to install these last couple tools.
It comes with this alcohol pad.
So the first thing that we're gonna do
is make sure this bow is all cleaned up
because these are adhesive.
We wanna make sure they stick really well.
Just gonna take this rubber alcohol pad out
and just rub down the limb here.
This is where that's gonna go.
So we're just gonna rub that down,
making sure there's nothing on there.
Do it on both sides.
That didn't clean.
And because this is an alcohol pad,
this will dry very quickly.
It's already dry there, I can see.
That just makes sure it's really nice and tacky.
Next, we're gonna take one of these,
take this adhesive strip off.
You'll see it there.
So when we install these,
we want this sloping edge
to go towards the outside edge here.
And we wanna make sure before we start,
this string from the reds should be roughly a quarter inch.
You'll see that they are on both sides,
making sure they're even so that when you install this,
you know that everything is already correct.
You'll see that it's even distance from both of these,
about a quarter inch.
I'm gonna pull this adhesive strip off of this.
The easiest way to know which direction this goes
is the Excalibur logo goes towards the inside of the bow.
That's the easiest way to know.
Set that aside.
And we do need to slightly pull this string back.
So I'm going to put my foot in the stirrup,
and I'm gonna pull slightly back on this string.
You'll see how it separates from the edge there.
And we wanna slide this in, putting it on the string.
So we're gonna pull back
because we want that string to rest
all the way inside that groove.
We're gonna pull this back,
and this should roughly be an inch and 5 8ths from the edge.
I'm gonna go like that,
and I'm gonna set it down into there.
You'll see that rests into that.
We recommend that you leave that for 24 hours
so that adhesive strip we know
is completely applied to that limb.
But you'll see that sits in there beautifully.
So when that fires, that's gonna go,
you know, it's gonna hit that,
and it's really gonna dampen the sound of that string.
There's gonna be no twang in that string.
We're just gonna do the next step on this side.
Once again, peeling this adhesive off.
This is really easy.
Simple thing that I'm sure, you know,
this is gonna really quiet the bow,
which is gonna benefit us in the field.
We're not gonna get any.
Hopefully this is gonna help deer jump in the string
and so on.
I'm just gonna rest that in there.
Go ahead and pull this back.
Roughly an inch and five eighths
from the outside edge of that limb.
And then we're gonna let that go.
That's gonna push into that,
seating it to that limb.
Both of those are on.
You can see they're the exact same distance from that edge.
Very nice.
