My bike Zip Tied together, I attempt this HECTIC climb! | S1E39

Time to climb! Oh god Oh, there's someone here Oh, is this why they stopped? Ohhhh I can understand why Oh god, here we go Oh god I have to go, I have to go My journey begins at North America's most northern drivable point The plan is to ride through Canada and America before crossing over to Europe. From there I'll make my way across Asia, and down to Australia. New Zealand's southern most drivable point will mark the end of my journey. I'm calling it the big spiral, and this is Act 3, Across North America My case has moved It's being held on by one bolt Maybe I can just zip tie the whole thing down It's on! I just want to go fast, but all my computer and camera stuff is being held on with zip ties right now, so it's maybe better to take it easy Okay, I'm just sneaking out of the campsite cause my neighbours are still sleeping Very nice people They actually gave me a tip for what to do today and it sounds really amazing It's like heading up into the Alpine Only thing is my case my zip tied case So, I think I'm gonna head to Seymour Arm and I'm just gonna take it easy, I'm not gonna I had so much fun yesterday riding this bike fast on the road but, oh man, I need to preserve the case here I think, otherwise I'm gonna put myself into a bit of pain So we'll get to Seymour Arm and then we'll see how the case is doing along the way, and then I'll make a decision about whether I want to go up into the Alpine The sun's just popping over the mountain now Alright, 70k to Seymour Arm To be honest Um, I hadn't heard of Seymour Arm until basically two days ago when I was looking on the map It's just a small community, it might be a gas station there Turn right here Aw, it's another beautiful day though, you know during this trip I should knock on wood, cause I've had so much good weather I've only had one kind of rainy day heading into the Dalton but otherwise it's been exceptional and I've talked to a number of people that also, you know, have been riding their motorcycles and they're like Oh man, it rains so hard But I've been so lucky, so I feel very fortunate about that And look where I'm riding, wow Morning light I hope my case stays on Cause I wanna, I really wanna head into the Alpine today Avoid as many bumps as I can Turns out Motorcycles are vibration machines And anything you put on them you need to account for the vibrations Oh, goats! Yeah, I'm just gonna check my zip tie job Cause this road looks really fun, and I want to go fast That's why I'm checking Um Yeah, looks good Red green would be proud Welcome to Seymour Arm Shoeshwap Oh, there's someone on the bridge Cool bridge though Oh, there's even joggers here It's like a busy town They have a lawn Kids have motorbikes There's a pub and a beach and a beetle dune buggy Cool place Okay, so I think if I go this way, I can find maybe a gas station I don't really need it, but I just want to have gas in case I want to get more adventurous Just so we're clear We are still fairly in the middle of nowhere here Like, I know there's a little village here but we're really still like at least 100k away from the main highway, so So on my map, there is a gas symbol here Hello! Oh yes, gas and ice Oh, dirt bikes How's it going? Good! Nice bikes Oh, this is a really cool place You as well, okay Thank you very much Alright, so the case on the bike is working pretty good So I think I can go hit that alpine thing I was talking about earlier So, let me just show you on the map what the plan is and yeah, here Alright, so we started in Valemont and went all the way down to Blue River and then kept going to here and then I went in here somewhere and then maybe went all the way out here to that kind of beautiful valley and then I followed the Adams River all the way down here and around here I realized my case was falling off then I camped here and then this morning, I've gone to Seymour Arm and so now the plan is to keep going east and then my neighbor told me at the campground that there's a really beautiful set of lakes up here and even like a view of a glacier, and he says you definitely have to go up there, but anyways, I'm really happy my zip ties are holding up cause it's going to allow me to do some pretty cool stuff today so, uh, let's get going Alright cute little town time to head east and then I gotta, there's a I'm basically gonna, there's a mountain range here and then there's a mountain range on the other side of that and then on the third mountain range I gotta go up that one yeah, the scale is big the scale is big here back to that bridge only one way in and one way out single lane bridge bit of a canyon oh, there's those guys so I think actually, those power lines there so those, I'm gonna be following those power lines up to the Alpine I believe there's a sign Malakua Highway Highway 1 oh, okay alright time to climb this looks like it alright, it's 15k and it's a pretty big climb so I'm a little worried it's gonna be steep it was getting harder oh, there's someone here oh, is this why they stopped? I can understand why oh, this is fun it's also intense but I'm enjoying it my case is still on it's still attached oh god, here we go oh, it's getting hot oh god I think I'm wearing two jackets I think I gotta take one off oh, look, right here oh, bike bike's doing good zip tie's still working oh, I've climbed a fair way now alright, I think it's time to continue wow it's definitely a climb adventure time oh man starting to go up again just keep going up oh god I have to go, I have to go oh yeah that was awesome starting to get into alpine now tiny little trees oh, wow, isn't it gorgeous up here petty peace lake well, I've had a really nice time at the top but now it's time to go down this is the part I'm a little bit worried about, to be honest oh yeah oh my I guess I went up it so I can go down it, right? ok, first gear oh my god this is crazy ok oh my god it's kind of steep but the worst bit is just all the rocks are so loose oh god I do it to myself, don't I? alright, well that's just the start of it I got a lot more to go oh, I got to that wash out should be good just go over here yes oh boy the thing is also the bike is hot too so it's just kind of rusty I ran out of water half way down so let's take it down to a creek I'm going to get some water feeling a little light headed now oh, there's a creek here maybe it's I think I can get water over there ok alright, don't fall off the bridge oh god so good alright made it back to the road 50 kilometers back to the highway even the drive out is amazing oh, pavements, what? what is this? it's so smooth busy road alright, just going to look at my phone and see where I'm going to stay tonight alright I just booked a cabin down the road here so just going to head down the road there's my little cabin cute so apparently I'm not good at reading the fine print so I booked this cabin and I read, ok it's got no running water you know, that kind of thing so no showers, toilets all that stuff which is fine what I didn't read is none of the beds have linens I got 3 3 beds but none of them have linens so I'll be it'll be it's a slight step up from camping I'll still be using my sleeping bag and I don't even have a pillow I often just use my clothes in a bag as a pillow, just to save space so but I do have here, let's have a look I do have a little swinging chair so that's a bonus so with my zip tie job, I did make it up that mountain it was a lot rougher than I expected but I did make it up but just barely apparently here, let's go have a look at the bike I didn't come out with all 10 zip ties, that's for sure so I got the case off now and yep, I got 5 zip ties on that side but apparently only 1 on this side so yeah, I did make it out just barely but if it did break, I probably would have just done the same thing again, cause it lasted I don't know, a good 5 hours that way, so what a ride actually, I really enjoyed I really enjoyed that climb up the mountain the descent was a lot harder than the climb that's for sure, but anyways great couple days in the bush and yeah I hope you guys enjoyed it too and if you did, there is that red square button down below it always helps if you hit that button it's very much appreciated and yeah, I hope you liked the video, and I hope to see you in the next one.
