Scott Nethersole (Senior Lecturer in Italian Renaissance Art, 1400-1500) takesover our ‘In Detail’ session this week to re-examine Botticelli’s ‘The Trinity with Saints’. This painting is in fact part of an altarpiece commissioned for a conventfor repentant prostitutes, Sant’ Elisabetta delle Convertite in Florence. Interestingly, two small figures, the Archangel Raphael and Tobias, walk in the landscape belowthe Trinity. Their graceful style differs in technique from the main figures. It is thisdetail of the work that Scott will revisit in our latest in detail episode.#OpenCourtauld

The structural treatment and conversation of Sandro Botticelli's Trinity with Saint Mary Magdalen and Saint John the Baptist, Archangel Raphael and Tobias was supported by Bank of America's Global Art Conservation Project.
