MIURA / KIHARA (JPN) | Pairs Free Skating | ISU World Team Trophy | Tokyo 2025

Miura, Riku, Kihara, Ryuichi-gumi, Nippon. Shiki-hara of Team Japan. Oh, yes! Oh, she did well! A lean on the triple toe, but got through it. There's the double axel! And another one! No hesitation into that throw triple loop. It was a cracker! Ah, she double-aired on the salchow. That could be key. Oh, how did she stay on her feet? That was a throw loop. Well, they looked as though they could have kept going all day, but you can see they are completely spent. A program skated at an electrifying pace. They gave every ounce of their being out there on the ice. Well, as a coach, you always say to your students, leave it out on the ice. And they did that, and some. Riko Miura, Ryuichi Kihara for Team Japan. Wasn't that brilliant? I was smiling all the way through that. He is such an engaging character. Their legs are gone. Oh, just marvellous. Don't you just love this sport? Started off so well with that twist. Just a three for that. Here's the toe loops. She didn't get an awful lot of elevation on that figure. Slightly under-rotated. But well done getting the double axels out afterwards. So they are going to lose a little bit there as well. But so many of the elements. Very, very good indeed. The GOE is super. You can see in the background, an offensive look on the face of Bruno Makot. Just makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Bruno, where's your wig? So good yesterday. OK. Oh, that's super. Season's best score, would you believe it? 145.06. And they get maximum points there. 12 points for Team Japan. And they get a little bit closer to Team USA, who are still out in front. But what a fantastic pairs event that was.
