What Does the Mind Want?
A man wants to know what the mind wants by its constant seeking, avoiding and identifying with objects and experiences.
Rupert says: ‘The mind is always trying to bring itself to an end. What happens when the mind comes to an end is that the presence of being emerges or shines. The truth is that being shines all the time, but we don’t notice it because of the noise of the mind.
‘What we do here is to go directly to the experience that the mind is trying to evoke. We have no agenda whatsoever with the content of the mind. We don’t try to change, focus or discipline the mind. We don’t even try to bring the mind to an end through conventional meditation techniques because our being is not dependent on whether the mind is active or not. We just go directly to that which is prior to the mind, independent of it and already free.’
