This is Maddie. She fell in love with Taylor.
Some people have asked me if like little people are my type, which I don't really know how to answer that.
When the pair got together, they were surprised at the amount of attention their relationship received.
So I was like, why don't you date someone your size? And it's like, I guess a person's a person.
Today, Maddie and Taylor are telling their family their plans for having children of their own.
The likelihood of Taylor and I having a child that has dwarfism is 50%.
It does cross your mind. What are people going to think?
What's for breakfast this morning?
How about some eggs?
That'll work. Hey, what time is your mom and brother coming over?
I think later this afternoon.
Cool.
I'm terrible at this.
So the dogs haven't eaten this morning?
No, they have not.
It's funny to think back that your parents were not a big fan of me at the beginning.
I remember those days.
So I was staying in the office and everything, didn't want to be a part of it.
And then now, your mom loves me. We're best friends.
Exactly.
The first time I met Taylor, obviously was at his house.
I have never met another little person before.
So I remember walking down the stairs, he walked around the corner.
And I honestly thought, holy cow, someone like completely different than me.
You just never seen something that good looking.
Oh, you know it.
The best thing about a dog to me is a dog doesn't judge at all.
I mean, it loves you no matter what you are.
You know, how big you are, how tall, small, color, everything.
That's what I love about them is there's no judgment there.
They're your best friend no matter what.
Come on, let's go for a walk.
Oh, we know where that's at.
He's like, yes, I will be going for a walk. Come on.
Let's go.
We had an ice cream date.
We're talking and I was sitting there looking at you.
And there's a bunch of kids off to the side.
And they're just being so loud, so rambunctious.
And she goes, don't worry, our kids won't be that way.
And I was like, all right.
So this is where this is going.
That day on, I went home and I started a savings account.
Start putting money away.
I was like, I'm going to start saving for a ring.
Hey, come on, here we go.
You're going for a walk? Come on, let's go.
Taylor and Maddie have now been together three years.
But their relationship hasn't come without its obstacles.
When we started going out in public and doing things together,
I won't lie, it was hard.
I'm not a big, like, hey, look at me.
I like to be center of attention kind of person.
But that's who I became when we would go out in public together.
That's whenever I got asked, you know, like,
why don't you date someone your height?
I don't care, I'm just going to date whoever I want to date,
you know, kind of thing.
And then you've been asked stuff too, you know.
Yeah, like, if little people were my type or things.
It was hard.
And so the more that I've gotten, like, the more we've grown together,
it doesn't bother.
It bothers me still not to the point where I'm like, quit staring at me.
It's to the point where it's like, don't be mean to him.
And it just, it irks me a lot that people choose to see
what's on the outside and not what's on the inside.
When I first started, or when I was getting old enough
to start thinking about having kids someday,
I was really against the whole idea of it and everything
because I just didn't want to bring a kid into this world.
But the more I, I mean, after meeting Maddie
and finding my person to raise a child with, it's a different story.
The chance of Taylor and I having a child that has dwarfism is 50%.
Our child will be the first grandchild that my mom has had.
Yeah, it'll be neat to hear what mom has to say about
having grandchildren that might have a difference.
I knew of the relationship a little bit before my mom did
because Maddie was a little hesitant on how they would react.
And then she said he had dwarfism, and I was like, oh, well, do you like him?
Well, yeah, that was my first question, you know.
Do you get along well with him?
She said, yeah, she's never met anybody like him at all.
Yeah, I found out a few weeks later that she said,
well, we might be dating, and I'm like, okay.
Was a little hesitant because I thought, you know,
he's not much taller than that dog.
Hi!
Say hello!
I dropped the ball on that one.
It's now time for Taylor and Maddie to reveal to Cindy
that they are planning to have children of their own.
The likelihood of Taylor and I having a child that has dwarfism is 50%.
So, obviously, we'll have our own children.
Right, for sure.
At first, we talked about adopting, but I think we're more on board
having our own kids as we can raise them to be strong, independent people.
When we talked about doing adoption at the beginning,
we were like, you know, it gives the opportunity to give a kid
that wasn't going to have a good life a good life, you know.
But then when we talked, we're like, no, we need to have one of our own.
And then we shape it the way we want to shape it, you know.
No matter the outcome, it's still your child,
and we're all going to treat it the same.
And, yeah, it's not going to be any different than any other kid in the world.
As long as it doesn't have to deal with Uncle Mac every day.
We'll only terrorize that child.
Be my first grandchild.
No matter what the outcome, I think it's great that you decided to do that.
Surprise! No, I'm just kidding.
I hope they have that much enjoyment out of their children
as we have had out of ours.
When I was 23, I told myself,
I don't want to bring a kid and have them experience what I've experienced.
And then I met Maddie, and I saw her perspective,
and I'm all for having kids now.
I don't care if it's a little person or not.
I'll bring one into this world because I know I've got a teammate beside me
that will raise it to have the same attitude I have.
I mean, yeah, it's going to dig a little bit at you,
but make them strong enough, they'll be fine.
