On the black carpet, that's appropriate.
It is appropriate.
We're at the Ballerina premiere, how are you feeling right now?
I'm feeling great. It's exciting and a relief in a sense of
we've been waiting to show this and share it with the audience for a long time.
And this is wild.
The celebration of a movie is always the fun part.
And I'm a massive John Wick fan.
I have been since the first movies.
Absolutely love it.
What was it like for you stepping into the world of John Wick?
It was surreal at times.
I'm such a fan of the films.
Keanu has become so iconic in this role.
Even when he puts on the suit.
To me, it's like seeing Indiana Jones in a hat and all that.
It just has that kind of quality to it.
Absolutely.
And a lot of when we think of the great stunt performers and great stunt actors,
it's very male dominated.
How incredible is it that we're seeing a woman at the forefront of an action movie?
We need more of it.
I started my career with female action movies.
It's something that I think we need more of.
And we need more in the appropriate tone.
Absolutely.
I've done a wee bit of stunt work in the past.
Not quite anything near this, but I know how challenging it is.
Who got hurt on set?
Was there any moments where anyone got hurt?
Just me.
Just you?
Just me.
Did you just get in the way?
No, just my soul when we had to pull the plug or shut down.
No one got hurt.
People get battered and bruised and need to take a break for sure.
I saw Anna saying that they let her almost improvise a little bit around the stunts.
I was like, oh, because normally it's meant to be so choreographed so that no one does get hurt.
Well, it's both.
A lot of it is.
And it's so choreographed.
And then other things that you get inspired by when I'm location scouting.
Or even building the set.
And things inspire you so you change it.
So yes, absolutely practice.
And she also has to be ready for suddenly me going,
And she's so game.
So it's your fault, basically.
It's my fault.
Well, listen, it's lovely to see you.
Good luck.
I cannot wait to see this.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Lovely to chat to you.
Nice to see you.
You seem to have a scarf on.
It's a bit nippy.
I mean, I think it's roasting, but I am Scottish.
Do you know what I mean?
I hear you.
We all good?
I can't believe you've got a scarf on in British summer,
but I'll let you wear it.
It's like L.A. winter.
Listen, we're here at Ballerina Premiere.
I'm so excited for this.
I've been a fan of John Wick for so long.
How exciting is it that you're getting to extend the John Wick universe?
It's pretty incredible.
And just to get to work with Anna
and to try and expand what we already love
in a world or a playground we like to play in
and bring in Anna Darmus, who brings so much intensity,
so much humour, so much goodwill.
I mean, you always need the Gwen Verdon to our Bob Fosse,
so I think she was the ultimate pick
who brought a little bit of magic to hopefully a magical universe.
And listen, I loved the documentary, Wick is Pain.
I mean, it was no-holds-barred.
You just told us everything, didn't you?
Yeah, nothing like having your life out there for everybody to mock.
But I mean, what does this franchise mean to you?
Because I think watching the documentary,
we realised just how much it had impacted your lives as well.
Yeah.
You got me all choked up.
No, it changed us.
Just like Keanu had gone through it twice,
we got to share the Matrix journey together
and then something that changes all our life.
Hold on, give me a hug.
You look fantastic.
Thank you so much.
It's so good to see you.
Have you seen this yet?
I have.
You're very good.
Well, thank you very much.
You're really good.
Bob Fosse says I'm all right.
Yes, you're more than all right.
It was a good call on the jewelry, wasn't it?
It was awesome.
I'm so sorry that you had to break that.
Sorry, she's awesome.
No, I feel like I've got a habit of making people cry.
I do apologise.
No, it's...
We're over it to work with Ian again,
to work with Lance and his last thing.
I mean, we've been a family for 11 years.
I love it.
And listen, obviously we love Keanu.
When it comes to stunts and stunt actors,
we often see very male-dominated.
How exciting and refreshing is it
to have Anna at the forefront of this?
I think it's...
I mean, we have a very weird perspective.
It's neither male nor female,
nor left nor right.
We just like interesting people playing interesting characters.
So, when we wanted to expand,
we just wanted...
Not extremely different,
but we just wanted a whole fresh perspective.
Somebody that was just coming into the world.
Someone with naivety but had humour
and had that intensity that Keanu brings to it.
And then I remember the first Zoom meeting I had with Anna.
I mean, we were actually finishing up John Wick 4 at the time.
And you see the intensity of her eyes
and you saw the softness and you saw the intensity.
And then the first day of training, we're like,
all right, we've got Gwen Verdon, we're good.
Well, listen, Chad,
I would really love to be in a John Wick movie.
Have you heard of A Glasgow Kiss?
Why don't you see me?
We're doing Highlander next.
Have you heard of the movie, A Glasgow Kiss?
Do you know what that is?
I do.
And that's why I'm standing back here.
Listen, I'm available and I've done some stunt work.
Have your people call my people.
Ah, well, OK.
It's so nice to see you.
Sorry for making you cry.
It's all good.
Lovely to see you again.
Stay warm.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
Hey, how you doing?
Nice to see you.
I'm great.
I've just spoken to Keanu, I spoke to Chad earlier
and I keep making everybody cry.
Why?
So I'm going to do my best not to make you cry.
Why did you make them cry?
I know, a John Wick premiere, how can that even happen?
What's wrong with you making everybody cry?
I'm Scottish, what can I say?
People get emotional when they talk to me.
Jesus.
Did he cry, really?
I think they got a bit emotional, shall we say.
I don't know if a tear fell.
Should I do this just in case I tear up?
You will never know if I cry or not.
I've got a feeling you're not going to cry.
I'm not going to cry.
How exciting is it to be in this universe
and be extending the universe with this movie?
It's great.
To be an actor like me in a John Wick film,
my day job, I roll around in the mud
and I'm covered in blood and I'm stabbing and killing people.
It seems like a natural progression.
You know what I mean?
You take the poncho off, you put on a suit.
It seems like moving on down the road.
Yeah, it's fun.
And I'm a big fan of the franchise.
I've seen them all a million times.
Like everybody else.
Well, I'm not going to make you cry
because I need to let you get on,
but we survived with no tears, which is great.
What did you say to them that made them cry?
I just asked them how much does John Wick mean to them
and then, you know...
This is my first one,
so you're not going to get a tear out of me.
He's done like 30 of these things,
so, you know, I understand.
Get a few movies down the line
and then the tears will come.
I'm just going to skip right by you.
Lots of love.
Lovely to see you.
Thank you so much.
Lovely to see you again.
How are you doing?
I'm good. How are you?
I'm so excited to see you.
Listen, I've been a fan of John Wick for so long.
I absolutely love it.
How exciting is it that we're getting to extend
the universe with Ballerina?
Yeah, it's fun.
It was fun.
Everybody involved wanted to protect
what makes a John Wick film,
but also explore,
so it's been cool to open up new characters,
tell more of the story,
and, you know, have a wonderful actress like Anna
really dedicate herself to playing the role
and seeing her having fun.
Listen, I love the documentary,
Wick is Pain.
I mean, I saw it, I loved it.
And do you know what?
I love the fact that it shows just how hard
you've all worked on this,
how dedicated you've been.
I mean, what does this franchise mean?
Well, that's a gift.
That's a gift.
I mean, when you go to the market
and there's, like, the bounty of nature there
and you get to go and then cook a meal
and then share that with friends and family
and they like it,
that's what I feel like Chad and I have been doing
for the past decade, you know?
What does John Wick mean to you?
Well, it's a role of a lifetime
and the friendships and bonds
that I've been a part of
in making the films
and being a part of creating them
have changed my life
and been part of my experience here.
Don't get emotional
because I made Chad cry earlier as well.
Yeah, I know.
We're just some cry babies.
It's so lovely to see you again.
Thank you so much for everything
you've brought to us in cinema.
I really appreciate it.
Thank you, Janet.
Thanks.
You look absolutely sensational, by the way.
Thank you.
I am so excited for this.
What I love to see is a woman at the forefront
of these stunts and action movies.
I mean, how does it feel for you?
What does it mean to you to be doing that?
It feels amazing.
I think bringing a new, powerful female voice
to the franchise and to this universe
was really empowering and really cool
and a great opportunity to me.
I love the franchise.
I love what Keanu and Chad have created.
I wanted to be a part of this world
and I wanted to show that us women can pass
and we can take this on.
It was really cool.
You absolutely can.
Listen, I know you've been friends with Keanu
for a long time.
What was it like getting to work with him
in this franchise?
I know you were a fan of Jordan Wick as well.
It's really amazing.
If I think about it too much, it's emotional
because I met Keanu 10, 11 years ago
when I didn't even speak English.
My break-up role in the US was in Knock Knock with him
and now here we are at this world premiere
with him and he's in my movie
kind of like passing the torch and blessing this film
and being so supportive as he always is.
It's crazy, you know?
And just finally, did you come out unscathed
or did you get any injuries on set?
Not injuries.
Lots of bruises.
Very painful everywhere.
But everyone was safe at all times.
We made it.
I cannot wait for this.
Thank you so much for your time.
Thank you.
