[Music]
Good morning everyone. Welcome back to
my alotment diaries. My name is Emma.
These are the alotment diaries. I would
love for you to subscribe to my channel
if you haven't already. I vlog all about
my a lotment plot and also my home
garden as well. So, I hope you're
enjoying those vlogs, too. It's gorgeous
today. It's so warm. Uh it's 10 to 9 in
the morning. It feels really hot. I
mean, I don't know what the temperature
actually is. It's already 16°. It's
getting up to 25 today. Um 9:00 in the
morning, 16°. Brilliant blue sky
sunshine. It's going to be a scorcher
basically. Brought a couple of bits with
me today to sew. Um, but it's mainly
going to be tidying up, looking after
everything. Little bit of weeding,
little bit of sort of plot maintenance
really,
but did bring my snap peas with me. I
sewed some snap peas here in my
greenhouse, but I don't think the seeds
are very good. Or maybe I just didn't
water them enough because they didn't
germinate. At the same time, I was
sewing them at home as well. and I've
managed to look after them a lot better
at home because I'm just always around
them there. So, I'm going to get these
out today. These, like I said, are snap
peas. It means that you can eat the
whole pee, which I love about them.
They're one of my favorite peas to grow.
The rest of the peas are doing
incredibly. I'll show you in a minute.
[Applause]
Also brought some chundula seed with me.
I actually sewed this at home as well in
a tray. They were doing okay, but then
they all suddenly died. And I don't
quite know why cuz I was looking after
them. I promise. I promise I was, but I
sort of think I don't really know why I
bothered to start them in a tray because
actually the weather's been so good that
I think they'd be fine in the ground.
So, I think I'm just going to stick them
out today and hope for the best. I mean,
so far so good, guys. So far so good.
And I've also
brought a little present for Einstein.
Actually, it's more of an experiment
that I want to do of Einstein that I'm
very interested in. So, I thought we
would do this first. Let me show you
what I got. Saw this online and I was
like, I have to have it for Einstein. I
just have
to. Why does it come in bits? Why do
they always come in
bits? Amazon. I don't understand why
they always have to send stuff in bits.
Do you know what I mean? Like, why can't
it just be in one
piece? So, that goes Gosh. In there.
What is
happening? They just sent it all
together. I mean, it would fit in the
box. Surely just put it in a bigger box.
I'm basically interested in his
reaction to seeing
himself in a
mirror. Oh my gosh. We're about to get
the reaction immediately. Whoa. What did
you think of that? What did you think of
it? Did you see that? I just want to
know what his reaction is going to be to
the mirror. Oh.
Right. If I just put this food
down. Okay, this is going to be
fascinating. A fascinating experiment.
Einstein, who's that in the
mirror? Doesn't really care at the
moment. Who's that in the
mirror? Just didn't care. Are you
joking? Do you care at all?
You don't care at all. It doesn't It's
not even noticed the mirror. Not even
noticed it. Just no reaction. Look
behind you. Einstein, look, there's
another bird behind you. No. Oh my
god. No rea. What? I thought this would
be so like interesting.
Einstein, look behind you. For the love
of God, Einstein, look behind
you. Who's that behind you? It's another
Robin. Look. Oh my
god. Are you kidding me? $12.99 I spent
on this
mirror. Just absolutely no interest
whatsoever in the
mirror. Really, really believed that
would be a fascinating experiment for us
all to witness today. And I'm so sorry
that Einstein has not cooperated and
clearly not read the script. Didn't read
the script I sent him at all, did he?
So, he's just not reacted in any way
whatsoever. Einstein, that is very
disappointing.
Right. Who's ready for temperature check
today? Are you
ready?
31.1° and 56%
humidity. No face. No face. No face at
all. What does it mean? What does it
mean when he has no face? What does it
mean? We don't know what it means, but
it doesn't mean anything good because
nothing without a face is ever good.
It's all thriving. It's all thriving. If
only re labeled it so we knew what it
was. No, I'm joking. I know what it is.
That is melons. That is melons. That is
onions. Not sure what to do with these
onions, to be honest, but they're still
growing, so I'll leave them. These are
pumpkins. That's a dead tomato that we
tried to grow. That has not grown. And
these are cosmos, which are getting
lovely and big now. And these down here,
these are snapdragons that I'm growing
from a seed. And these are doing, some
of them are doing okay, some of them
have died. So, it's a mix. is mix. But
everything else in here is absolutely
thriving. We've got the tomatoes. I
mean, you can smell the tomato plant,
and I think you know what I mean. Um, by
that, if you've ever smelled tomato
plant, I mean, there's no going back
from that. You will smell of tomato
plant in your dreams once you smell
tomato plant. Um, it is unmistakable and
it's gorgeous and it reminds me of
summer. And then the cucumbers. We've
got a cucumber. We have got a cucumber.
This is not a drill. That my friend with
a little flower on the end. That there
that is a cucumber. That is a cucumber.
I can't believe it. And this this is the
one that we've fixed with duct tape.
Fixed it with duct tape. Got a flipping
cucumber growing. Can you believe it? I
can't. And then the other ones. Yeah,
they're doing really well. They need a
bit of tying up
really. That's okay. That's all right.
Oh, we got another Got another cucumber
there. Oh my gosh, we've got a cucumber
there. Oh my gosh, at the size of this
one. It's got some girth on him.
Fantastic. The melons. The melons do
need a place to go out very soon. I
mean, they're still quite small, so I
have a bit of time. Um, but we do need
to sort the back of the of the
greenhouse out. I do need to sort that
out. So, that is a job for the next
couple of days. Hopefully, it'll cool
down a little bit and then I can get on
with it because at the moment, I don't
think I can do strenuous work in here in
31°. I just can't do it. So, the melons
are going to have to wait a little bit
longer, but I will sort those out. Don't
worry, melons. You're being sorted out.
Right. Let's sort out these snappies.
Um, so I know where they're going. We
need to weed it. We need to sort it out.
Let's
go. And we'll run
around.
Has anyone figured out how to actually
turn a wheelbarrow around without having
to do a 15-point turn in a tight spot?
Is there some kind of wheelbarrow
driving lesson that I could take? Let me
know.
[Music]
Right. This structure here that I sort
of planned to grow my snap peas over was
one of the structures that was sadly
sort of destroyed when the vandals came
around and they've taken the stick from
it. I had a little stick in here and the
stick is now gone. So, what I need to do
is find another stick, try and fix it.
It's a little bit frustrating, but I do
have a lot of sticks. It's just that
have I got a stick that I can sort of
sacrifice for the greater good. Ask
myself, that garlic is
massive. That garlic is massive. My god,
just got distracted by the size of my
garlic. It's never been that tall
before. It's absolutely
amazing. Never seen it that tall. And
look, the um the rhubarb. This is
rhubarb I planted this year. It's gone
crazy. It's massive. I can't believe how
big this is. This is absolutely insane.
It's going to be as tall as me
soon. Oh, yeah. It might be just long
enough. Yeah, I think that'll be okay.
Actually, that's okay. Right, we need
some my paper wire. I can't find my
paper wire, but my scissors have turned
up and the twine has turned up as well.
So, when I lose one thing, I seem to
find another. And when I lose the other
thing, I find the other thing. You know,
they sort of tag team it. All my
equipment tag teams it. It's like, who's
going to who's going to deal with that
nutty lady today? Oh, go on scissors.
It's your turn. That's what all my stuff
is
like, right? We're just tying on the
netting so it's got something to climb
up. I'm just making it quite tight
across.
[Music]
Right. What I've done is I've made a
trench along here and I'm just going to
plant the peas into the
trench and then fill them
in. Just a bit of an easier
way of planting them all. Aren't they
happy? Lovely little plants. Look at
these bouncy, happy little plants. Love
[Music]
them. There we go. Just fill them all in
together like this. So much easier.

I was just wondering if I've managed to
cool it down at all in here. And the
answer is no. It's now
34.4° in here. And um what was the
humidity? 42% humidity and still no
face. Still no face. Will we ever see
his face again? We don't know. Um where
are my chenula seed? Oh, they're over by
the shed. Right. We're going to sew some
chenula out. We're going to sew the
chundula, but I don't know where to sew
it. So, let's have a little look. It's
one of those sort of miscellaneous
flower crops that I think can kind of
slot into any bed. It's just where do I
want them? That's the question. Where do
I want them? I don't know. Thinking
maybe on the bottom here next to the
sunflower. That might be a nice place
for them. Or potentially in this bed
over here. Um maybe in front. But then I
normally get nesters coming up randomly
though I haven't seen any this
year. Oh yeah, there's one. These are my
selfseeding nesters. There's one there.
Um, oh, look, there's another
one. They do just selfseed. You could
just move them as well. If you see them
selfseeding, you can just dig them up as
a little mini plant and just plant them
somewhere else. Don't see any coming up
on this side, though. So, perhaps I
could stick in the colundula along the
front here. That might be quite nice.
Let's give it a little
weed. Right. I'll be careful not to pull
up any nostiums. Oh, yeah. I see a baby
one. There's a little baby nostian there
cuz I do quite like them. What they do?
Oh, look. There's loads of them. They're
all along here. Sorry. There are no
sters. They're growing in the pathway,
not the bed. All right, that's fine.
That's fine. And that there, that's
boridge. And I'm sort of happy for them
to Oh, hello Herbert. What you doing
there? Would you mind moving? I'm scared
that you're going to eat my chundula.
That's all right,
mate. Yeah, I really like the nosters
and the borage when it all comes up. So,
I will try my best not to pull any of
that
up.
Ladybird. Hello. Look at the little
ladybird. He's gorgeous. Where did you
come from? Where did you come from? Me?
Where'd you come from
[Music]
[Music]
then? Right, Kendula. I really do not
know why I did not sew this from a seed
the first time.
It really does work really well directly
when there aren't many slugs about. So,
I'm just going to scatter them along
[Music]
here. Then we'll just them in like this.
They're
covered. In
[Music]
These are my other peas. These are like
an early pea variety. And aren't they
doing fantastically? The peas did really
well last year as well. So, I'm not too
surprised. Getting some lovely little
flowers on them now as well. And they're
just getting taller and they're all
gripping on themselves and it's just
great. I mean, peas are just such a
fantastic crop to grow and they tend to
do well at my plot. And then just in
front of that, oh, there's me. Hello.
Got my spinach and I've also got a few
other things coming up in Here. I think
there's a rogue parnip. And there's also
some Californiaifornian poppies coming
up, which I'm just going to allow. I'm
just going to allow it all to come up on
its own.
[Music]
Right, I'm actually
exhausted. I think it's just so so hot
today and I'm trying to do quite
strenuous jobs and um there's a lot to
do and I'm getting a little bit
overwhelmed. So, what I'm going to do is
leave it. I'm gonna walk away. Even if
the vlog's a little bit shorter, it
doesn't matter because the worst thing
that can happen is that I get burnt out
and then I just won't want to come and
then I'll just be overwhelmed and it'd
be awful. And that's all the excuses I
can think of. Next time I come, I'm
going to do some more planting out, more
weeding, more watering. I might actually
bring my strimmer battery and do a
little bit of strimming as well. Just
make sure that it's all staying under
control at this time of year. I'm trying
to stop the net from going over the
camera here. The brassacica bed behind
just under where you're sitting is
absolutely phenomenal this year. I
cannot tell you how much better things
are growing this year than they ever
were last year. It's insane the
difference. This kale is stunning. Not
one slug mark on it. Not one bite of a
slug. And actually, I think it might be
ready to start harvesting some of that
very, very soon. And then you can see
behind we got cauliflowers and we've got
and all sorts of things in here.
Cabbages. How is it all still alive,
guys? Explain it. Make it make sense.
So, I'm going to leave it there today. I
hope you've enjoyed watching my little
diary entry for my a lotment plot. And I
will be back again in my next video
planting out and still here working on
the a lotment. So, I will see you next
time, guys. Thank you for watching. Bye.
