A white marble portico table clock (Pendule portique) with fire-gilt bronze ornaments. A beautiful large clock movement with verge escapement (this is special!). Quarter striking (Petit Sonnerie) every fifteen minutes as follows:
The first quarter hour: one ting/tang on two bells
The second quarter: two strikes
The third quarter: three strikes
On the full hour: the number of hours on the larger bell only.
This clock is featured in various books, including La Pendule Française by Tardy, on page 268. See also the detailed photographs. For decoration, it features four beautifully crafted blue Wedgwood porcelain plaques.
