Hey you may remember over the
winter the Red Sox made a run at
this guy Juan Soto.
He's going to get hot against
somebody.
Yeah you absolutely know that.
Let's not make it here for these
next three as Ron Darling said
he's going to make somebody pay
Red Sox starter tonight to take
him on under Dobbins two and one
three ninety ERA the Red Sox
have in fact lost his last three
starts.
And there it is a really nice
hand for Lindor.
I fly ball left field Duran
coming in the wind will knock it
back.
Good see that a lot tonight.
One down.
Here's the Soto shuffle and
there are boos going up the
middle.
Story will flag it down and set
it down to it.
Here's Pete Alonso with two outs
in the first inning and he
cracks one to deep left field
back toward the monster and off
the wall.
Alonso heads for a second the
throw by Garretti may get him
and Pete is out at Sonoma State.
He got around the tag.
Oh man.
They'll challenge this I'm sure.
Alex Corr is at his daughter's
graduation.
And now a challenge is coming at
15 seconds and they are going to
take a look.
He thought he got it out of here
Fenway Park and didn't get out
of the box and just created this
play.
And what I think eventually he'll
be out.
So they take a look in New York
at the review center.
A lot of the Red Sox are starting
to make their way up the diamond
right now.
After you because it overturned
the runners out.
Boston will take the Red Sox to
the first victory of the night
coming up now against Senga in
the bottom of the first.
So here's Jaron Duran leading
off with the Sox against Kodai
Senga.
It is Kodai Senga day for the
Mets.
And the first one on the way to
the Duran hammered down a line
fair ball off the sidewall that
carries to Soto Duran for second
base.
He'll get there easily standing
up with a double as he picks on
the very first pitch.
We told you this is a team that
likes to swing early in the
count and Duran then there's a
four pitch walk to Devers
regular two on and nobody out.
Great early chance here against
one of the best pitchers in
baseball.
So far that's passed everyone
all the way to the backstop
ran down to third and Rafi in
the second on the wild pitch.
This is a Kodai Senga who is not
familiar to us.
Eight starts has yet to give up
more than two runs.
Rounded up the middle not
sharply hit a run is in McNeil
will fire on and got him.
Devers at second a close play at
first Red Sox take a one nothing
lead and no appeal Devers safely
on down to third two away.
That'll bring up the slumping
Trevor Story.
Ralph Boyle Yank behind a bad
fair.
Another one is in and that
bounce back Lindor will chase it
down be a long single in an RBI
for Trevor Story and the Sox get
that second run home to nothing
Boston.
It's that fourth ball again but
he goes out and gets it just
enough.
We talk about the importance of
making contact.
You know these last two balls
weren't smoked.
This one's placed beautifully.
Very important run early on
second walk issued by Senga and
there's two down now for lefty
Jaron Duran.
We're right back in the top
where we started another line
drive that one down the right
field line.
He's going to score in the third
base standing up with another
Jaron Duran.
It is double in the first inning
and the Sox are on top three
nothing.
Well how about it from Jaron
Duran.
So similar to the ball that he
hit in the first inning pitch
that was low in the zone just
tugs it.
It avoids the sidewall that he
hit in the first keeping him to
a double.
You knew it was triple territory
right off the bat.
What a night Duran is having
Senga rattled back at Fenway
Park three nothing Red Sox.
We go to the top of the third
and Francisco Alvarez leads off
for the Mets Francisco Alvarez
flies one to deep right.
A break you can't get to it.
It bounces up against the wall.
Alvarez digs for a second and
he's in standing with a leadoff
double.
Alvarez goes to third and
there's one away as center
fielder Tyrone Taylor comes to
the plate.
And Taylor lines a base hit in
the left center field.
That'll bring it Alvarez with
the first man run cut off nicely
by Rafaela to hold Taylor to a
single Tyrone Taylor drives in
the one to cut the Red Sox lead
to three to one flat slider over
the plate down shoulder tucked
in nicely done.
That is just the fifth walk this
season for Hunter Dobbins.
And it comes in a big spot.
Now the Mets have runners at
first and second.
And here comes Juan Soto.
Brown ball right side Hamilton
in the second.
Got it up to first and in time
for the double play.
That's the ninth double play.
Soto's grounded into this year.
Let's get just the one run and
trail three to one Red Sox
ahead three one as we get set
for the bottom of the fourth
inning.
David Hamilton leads off against
Kodi Senga half swing on the
fourth ball and he went around
strike three.
So Hamilton's a strikeout
victim.
The second of the night for
Senga base hit for Narvaez
second time he's been aboard and
a one out base runner for the
Red Sox up by two in the fourth
Rafaela popped out to third back
in the second and he struck him
out on a splitter.
So Senga's got to strike out to
the inning three for the night
and he's going to face Durant
again.
Runner goes ground ball to first
again Alonzo has been busy.
He'll flip to Senga right over
his head.
That man is hitting it a third
he'll stop there.
Durant take it off for second
and a misplay by Alonzo for the
second night in a row and his
error prolongs the inning and
puts runners in second and third.
But this has become psychological
now with Pete.
There's just no question about
it.
That's a really frustrating
moment for Alonzo who is so
vocal about what he did last
night at Yankee Stadium selling
a throw over the catcher's head
telling everybody after the game
my fault my bad.
It just happens again here on
Alonzo.
And that is going to be for
second time.
Devers has walked tonight and
that loads the bases for
Bregman.
Senga is starting to show his
frustration on the mound.
This inning is continued because
of the Alonzo throwing error.
Bregman hits it on the ground to
Beatty.
They'll go to first base with it
and Senga gets out of trouble
and Alonzo can breathe a sigh of
relief.
And McNeil kept that ball fair
and the Mets up runners at the
corners with one out.
This has been a persistent issue
for the Red Sox.
The starters not named Garrett
Croce have really had a hard
time getting through the fifth
inning.
Here's Tyrone Taylor who single
his first time drove in a run.
Dobbins will leave with two outs
in the fifth inning.
Wilson is coming on to face
Francisco Lindor three to home.
And got him struck him out.
Came back with a breaking ball
in a big spot to put away Lindor
Boston keeps veteran lefty
Justin Wilson out there.
Soto 0 for two tonight including
a double play ball hit high in
the air to left field and deep
Durant back looks up.
It is off the green monster and
Soto who was not running just
gets to first.
Now did he think that was going
out.
It's a single to left field.
He wasn't running hard at all.
He took his time to leave home
plate and then eventually
started to go as that ball
approached the monster trotting
again and therefore not on
Soto.
The bus is part of a larger
pattern with Soto.
He is not running hard all the
time.
This is something that really he
needs to clean up Soto breaks
for a second pitch taken low.
Narvaez can't get a throw off
Soto ends up at second base
anyway.
So in a sense he makes up for
it.
I don't know what Soto was
thinking.
It's a single and a walk in the
first two are on for the Mets.
But here's a lefty Brandon
Nimmo.
This may be the last one for
Wilson.
Ground ball to third friendly
Hartbregman in the second has
won the turn.
Double play Sox have turned a
couple of those tonight Soto
into third but two down.
So tonight's manager of
Vasquez will take the ball from
Wilson.
Here comes Weissert one to pitch
and a high pop up into right
Abreu back it up back it up.
When taking it he'll make the
play.
He's a man a third Senga again
as the game has gone on he's
gotten better works a one two
three fifth Kodak Senga will be
going back out there.
Not sure that was the original
plan but as he was exiting after
the fifth he held up one finger
and was looking like he was
imploring Carlos Mendoza to give
him one more inning.
Rolled over to the right side
Alonzo this time with the
overhand toss on target to
Senga for the first out.
That's it.
Pete cut it loose.
You know you can only laugh.
You got to laugh.
Yes I did it.
Oh boy have fun.
Hold the third beautiful short
hop by Beatty and he throws him
out.
Oh wow.
With Beatty on a scorcher he did
not want to get in front of that
one.
Nice play Senga at ninety six
pitches trying to get through
six facing Sadon Rafaela
righty batter struck him down
with a fourth ball and that's
how Senga's night in with his
fifth strikeout.
He asked for the sixth inning
and he got it.
It is a base hit in an E-9.
That's a first and third with
two outs and the order flips for
Francisco Lindor Lindor with a
bounding ball in the first pitch
right to Hamilton.
And Slaton gets out of the on
one offering and it remains three
to one Boston Marte content with
a single.
So the Mets on a pinch hit single
by Marte now bring the tying man
to the plate in the ninth.
Marte is a board with one down
and that means the Francisco
Alvarez will come up and fans
come to the right side Hamilton
flips that's one.
And the Mets have now dropped
four of their last five and
scored just 10 runs in their
last six games.
Ramon Vasquez is the fill in
manager picks up the W and a
really nice win for the Sox in
Game 1.
