A short video highlighting the important features you should consider when trying to find and do work you love.
Choosing a new career path is never easy, but finding a job that you will LOVE seems impossible. However, you can achieve your DREAM job by implementing a few simple steps to ensure you are on the right path to success.
Hi guys, my name is Katie and welcome to the short video
for how to find and do work you love.
Okay, so did you know that most people spend more time
planning their summer holidays than they do their careers?
Now don't be one of the crowd and fall into this trap, okay?
So instead, with a little planning
and by learning some subtle techniques,
you can accelerate your career to such an extent
that you can even get the job of your dreams.
Okay, so what is your dream job?
So a dream job is regarded as something
that appears, initially at least,
to be out of reach of the ordinary person.
However, by using a career mapping strategy,
you can in fact achieve extraordinary career success
that enables you to get this type of job.
Okay, so a career mapping strategy
is where you examine the role that you ultimately want
and map out a route using intermediate jobs
as stepping stones to get there.
It is a long-term plan that sets out
what you want to achieve
and how you will go about achieving it.
Okay, so the first technique that you should understand
in regards to finding a job that you love
is to analyse yourself.
So what are your strengths?
What do you see yourself doing for a long-term career?
What do you do best?
What do you struggle with?
What do you enjoy?
What fascinates you and makes you curious?
Who do you envy in terms of career?
And who are your role models in terms of career, okay?
So these are crucial questions that you should ask yourself
when trying to work out
what kind of career you would love to do, okay?
So understanding who you are as a person
and what kind of personality you have,
what kind of characteristics you possess
will go a long way in determining
what career is most suited to you, okay?
Next, we have your strengths and success.
So what are your biggest strengths?
What are you good at?
What do you do best?
So it's not always about what you want to do
but what you can do.
So what can you thrive from?
How can you be successful, okay?
So again, these are key questions
that you should constantly be asking yourself
when trying to find a career that you're going to love, okay?
So of course, you have to love the job that you're in, okay?
So the only way to enjoy your career
is by choosing a career that highlights your passions
and your interests, okay?
So there's no point undergoing a job
because your partner wants you to
or because your parents want you to.
It has to be a job that reflects the person that you are
and it's a job that you know that you're going to,
that you're going to love for a long time, okay?
Because ideally, it's gonna be a career is for life
and you'll be doing loads and loads of years
in that job role, okay?
So you're gonna have to love it, okay?
So the third technique I would like you to get on board with
is experience more, experiment more, okay?
So what experience have you had already?
Have you found something that you're passionate about yet?
So the key to finding a job that you love
is to try everything.
So if you have no idea where to start looking
or what you're interested in,
you need to experience lots of different things
before you find a job that you're really going to love, okay?
So that way, you will eventually come across something
that you are passionate about, okay?
So you can't become passionate about something
if you haven't got any experience in that area, okay?
So the key is to go out and get that experience
because you will find something in the end
that you're really going to love, okay?
So next, we have research.
So a big part of finding a job that you love
is researching into it, okay?
So researching into a career that you see yourself doing,
is it something that you can see yourself enjoying
for a long time?
So try and shadow someone in a similar position
to the one you see yourself in, okay?
Does it match your expectations?
Okay, so by shadowing someone in a position
that you want yourself to be in,
is a great way for you to not only become familiar
with the surroundings of that working environment,
but it will also give you some indication
as to whether or not you are most suited to that job role,
okay, because sometimes you might have a job in your mind
and it might seem really good,
but in the end, once you get that job,
it might not necessarily be what you were expecting, okay?
So understanding the job role more specifically
will really help you out when trying to find a job
that you're going to love, okay?
So finally, we have perseverance, okay?
So the key to success and finding a job you love
is persevering with it, okay?
So try and try again until you reach a goal.
So do not give up on the first sign of struggle.
Do not give up just because it's taking longer
than expected.
You know that many people go through
lots and lots of different jobs
before they find their right one, okay?
So don't give up because you won't get anywhere like that,
okay?
So whatever step backs and obstacles are thrown in your way,
use those as a way of learning, okay?
What can you do differently?
How can you avoid these issues for next time around?
What do I need to do to get one step closer
to securing my ideal job, okay?
So if you do find yourself with constant step backs
or obstacles in your way, ask yourself why, okay?
So you will be able to rectify these for the next time
when you go to apply for another position, okay?
