Chef Renee shows you how to make delicious local "Big Island" style Macadamia Pancakes using our premium Ahualoa Family Farms Macadamias.
Aloha, welcome to a Hualoa family farm mini kitchen series.
I'm Chef Renee and I'm here to teach you
how to make our macadamia nut pancakes.
So we're gonna take our macadamia nut mix here
that you can find on our shop and online.
So we already have it open
and we're gonna put it inside of the bowl here.
Instructions are on the back,
so if you wanna follow along,
they'll be right there posted with some information.
And then you can always add some extra things
at the end like we do.
So we have our pancake mix in the bowl
and what we're gonna do is take a cup
and a third of cold water.
And we're just gonna go ahead and mix that.
You want this semi-lumpy,
that way it can still sit at temperature
and then it's not too flat when you go ahead
and pour it into the pan.
So we're just gonna go ahead and keep whisking.
Now if you're like me, I like to add a little vanilla.
I add some cinnamon to it.
We also have a banana chocolate one that I like as well
and I like to add a little bit vanilla to that one too.
And sometimes some fresh mashed banana.
So you can actually adapt this
and make it any way that you like.
So look at that nice and thick consistency.
This is what you're looking for.
And it's gonna be lumpy,
so it doesn't have to be all smooth.
And remember we have our signature
small piece macadamia nuts in there as well.
So we're gonna let this sit for just about a minute
and when it's ready, we'll go ahead
and go ahead and put it in the pan.
All right, now that we've let that batter sit for a minute,
what we're gonna go ahead and do
and scoop it right into our pan.
So I have a half a cup here.
You're welcome to use a third or any size
that you really want your pancake.
And I'm just gonna go ahead and fill it up.
Some people like to use measuring cups.
Others like to use like a measuring spoon
or something that is just easy for it to spread in the pan.
And what you're gonna notice is it's quite lumpy.
That's because we have our small piece style macadamia nuts
that are 100% Hawaiian and local.
So we purchase our macadamia nuts from the local farmers.
We dice and process them at our factory
and they're brought here into our kitchen
to make products like you see here today.
So what we're waiting for is the bubbles
to reach the middle of the pancake before we flip it.
And then it will have a nice crusty edge.
This is a nonstick pan,
but you're welcome to put like our macadamia nut oil
on the inside or a little bit of butter
just to prevent it from sticking.
So our pancake's ready to be flipped.
And here we go, we got a nice golden brown.
All right, so we're gonna go ahead and plate this.
So we have our three stack pancake.
I'm gonna put this guy right on the top.
Well, what we have here is our macadamia nut pancake.
And we're gonna go ahead and top it off
with some of our other macadamia nut products that we love.
We have our mac butter that we make in-house.
Again, locally sourced.
We are just gonna put a little tab of that
right on top of the pancake in place of your butter.
So again, we locally sourced the honey.
We get it from Hilo on the island, a big island here.
That's actually what we use inside of the spread as well.
Let me do a nice little drizzle of honey.
And then we're gonna top it off
with just a bit more of our macadamia nut.
Thanks for joining us, folks.
I'm Chef Renée.

Our macadamia nut pancakes.
Get it ready.
You look so aware.
The butter is so good.
