Angelina Jolie Speaks On Playing Lara Croft, Kissing Winona Ryder & More At The SAG Awards In L.A.

[Applause] hi wow yes no I didn't know what I was wearing about an hour ago tonight yeah I'm one of those people it's amazing I get here do oh uh yeah close usually my brother and tonight one of my best girlfriends Janine who's done my makeup on 11 films and so she knows all about me thinks I'm nuts but she's great yeah she's here and she loves me and and that's all that I need some love around me you know tell us about the decision to take the Lara coft role well I I guess all the papers aren't signed so we're not but uh it all looks good and um yeah I'm I'm actually hoping to good do goodby England that's kind of the thing I'm most worried about so and and the thing I'm going to be most proud of and uh make my my uh ex-husband proud I think so so yeah that's kind of Angelina congratulations don't know where that's hi um congratulations thank you very much I noticed when you're coming in that uh you you paid a lot of attention to the crowd and I felt that that was very touching cuz I felt I saw you connect with them tell us um how important that is to you in the position that you're now a you know a public figure oh you know it's not even a position I'm in it's just if anybody was standing up there that that's a pretty amazing crowd of people and uh yeah there other actors and and uh other actresses that I just admire so much and I'm just so excited by their work and so happy to be in a room with them and and that they would think it's okay to put me on stage for a minute is is uh you know I just feel like you know those moments where you just feel okay just like that you you maybe you may be living your life right you know thank you thank you hi you normally travel with your brother did you bring your brother no really familiar to me do you normally bring your brother around and is that I do my brother's home now my brother is very close to Janine and and Janine and I have never gone out we always see each other at the After parties and you know it's it's always weird when you've some people get in front of you everything with you but I think after one red carpet she's probably never going to come again she was a little like but uh yeah my brother my brother's going to come to the Oscars with me and uh and he just did a part in in the film I'm doing dance in the dark he just played F and he was brilliant and I cried so I I think I well I'm very aware of how an Oscar can help your career and help you do the things you want to do but I've I've tried to do that anyway um yeah I think just all those things I want to get done Michael christofer has written This brilliant pirate movie that I'd love to do and maybe it'll help you know I mean just just work you you really proud of maybe can be pushed for forward um but you know really it sounds corny but the nomination is you know it's my first time maybe my only time and I'm going to enjoy that out outside of your own excuse me I don't know you mentioned Chloe uh earlier on and I wondered outside of your own film and your own performance who are you rooting for who do you think is particularly strong what films are you rooting for this award season uh you know it's it's hard because you get to know these people so I think it's hard to tell you know the line fuzzes between just like these amazing people and their performances or the things and the amazing thing is this year just a lot of the amazing people have amazing performances like Michael KK Duncan and I'm roting for him and I was glad The Green Mile got up because I think it's I think it's always good to do films that are really about something and uh and that should count and uh I'm it's funny I'm rooting for Hillary Swank and Anette Benning so it's kind of tough but I you know I know and that's uh I don't know how much he's been acknowledged as I you never know so sometimes you just want to make sure everybody's being acknowledged somehow um yeah Angelina last question Angelina hi over here over hi over here hi I will do Chloe said uh in the New York Times today that she had experimented with both men and women in her younger days and uh you had that great kiss with Winona I wonder if this is a was not a great kiss that was I was in shock treatment I I wasn't there man do you think that the the lack of definition of sensual sexuality with younger the younger generation is a trend that's going on these days I think it can be a bad Trend I think you can you can sometimes it can be you know I mean I thought it was pretty cool to be married for three years and dedicated to a man who loved me and I loved him and it was very normal and I've only been with a few people in my life like under a handful so which I can just tell everyone but but you know I I just don't think it should be more interesting because it's a man or woman I think it should just be it shouldn't matter what anybody looks like or anything physical about them it should just be who they are and so of course it doesn't matter man or woman and everything else doesn't matter you know Angelina I've got it she's been cut off a few times and I'm sorry I'll get back thank you this one's got a really good backside and no mouth which I can't understand but um yeah this is from from the other actors and and and other people in this business and so this this means kind of more than than anything in in a strange way you know it's a it's just great it's an actor and you know it's it's the made it's the happiest thing in my life is to be an actor right now you know and and uh other than my family obviously who are actors so it's been a good life because of this uh this ability to do kind of work and explore yourself and characters and yeah that means a lot sorry jelina first uh the Foreign Press honored you with the Golden Globe and now your peers with the SAG statuette three a lucky number for you are you looking forward to two weeks from now any projections with Oscar uh you know I I I don't know I'm going to go back to Mexico tonight and continue filming and I know everybody on set is kind of rooting for it so if I don't bring it home I might get beaten up but you know it's uh it's just it's going to be exciting to go cuz that's it's all new to me um you know however it goes I'm going to be pretty happy so it'll be all right thank you very thank you [Applause]
