Eva, you're from the USA. Do you like it in Germany?
Yes, Germany is fantastic!
We were lucky. These are the participants of the Easy German Winter School.
And we want to ask exactly this question.
We want to ask the Germans which countries they liked and which they didn't.
Let's go!
In which countries have you already been?
All over the world?
It will probably take longer to list them all.
Come on, let's go. This is interesting.
In all our neighbouring countries.
In Scandinavia, actually, everywhere.
On other continents, in the USA, in South America, in Japan, Thailand.
And how old are you?
21.
Respect!
I was in the Middle East, in many countries.
Iraq, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan.
I was in Africa, in Nigeria, I was in South Africa.
I was in a variety of countries.
Italy, Portugal, Spain, Croatia.
Austria, Switzerland.
France, England, Turkey.
Sweden, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Tunisia.
Oh, quite a lot, yes.
America, South America, Italy, Spain, Greece, Poland, Oman.
India, Kenya, I've been to Asia and Northern Europe, which was very nice.
I was in Latin America, I was in the Balkans, in Russia, the Caucasus, Europe.
If I have to name the individuals, it takes a bit longer.
I lived in France for a long time, in Holland, Israel, Palestine, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Spain.
I've been to Italy, and Poland, and England.
Which countries did you like the most?
My favourite country was Laos.
Why?
Because there was a very special atmosphere there.
And everything was still very, how should I say, very human-like.
And of course Asia, the nature, the Mekong Delta, that really touched me.
I particularly liked Guatemala.
Then I found India very impressive.
And I would say Albania.
And why Albania?
Because the people were very warm.
Oh, South Africa.
South Africa?
Yes.
Can you explain that?
The Cape of Good Hope, the penguins, I think they were sea lions that I saw, that was great.
Which country did you like the most?
God, that's difficult.
The USA and Italy.
Norway?
Norway, definitely.
But I also liked Slovenia very much.
Okay, Slovenia is interesting.
Can you explain why Slovenia?
It's a mix.
Great landscape.
They have the mountains, they have the sea.
You can hike there, which we like to do.
And the people are super nice there.
Three countries. We're talking about the landscapes.
The most beautiful was Norway.
Okay.
The second most beautiful was the USA.
And the third most beautiful was Jordan.
The best memory I have is America.
I was in New York and it was very impressive, I have to say.
I'm from New York, I'm glad to hear that.
Which country did you like the most so far?
Portugal.
Why?
I always go surfing there.
I found it very beautiful in Indonesia.
And why?
Because it was very different from here in Berlin.
I grew up here.
And I found it very exciting to come somewhere completely different.
And I spent a lot of time there.
I was there for a month.
And I looked at a lot of different things.
And I traveled around there.
And I liked that very much.
I liked Uzbekistan the most.
Yes, why?
Because it's so different.
And because it smells different.
Because it looks different.
Because it's beautiful.
Because it's great.
I liked Thailand the most.
Because I found it nice and warm.
You had a nice view.
And the food tasted good.
Austria.
And why?
Because my daughter lives there.
Turkey.
Because you can try a lot of food.
It's a very diverse culture.
And the people are super nice.
I would say
Slovenia.
Because it was the last country I was in.
And it had an impressive nature.
What did you do there?
I made a round trip with a friend.
We started in the north.
And then we went down
to the south, to the coast.
And we had different stops.
And we enjoyed life.
I think
New Zealand.
But also because
it's my second home.
I lived there for two years.
And I connected a lot with it.
Spain.
Because I go there every year with my family.
And I like the temperament there.
And you also learn the language.
Yes.
But I think
the countries where you are often
are the places where you get to know yourself.
And what was the most beautiful country?
Or maybe countries?
Where do you have the best memories?
I think Bolivia.
I think you always forget Bolivia
when you travel to South America.
It has everything to offer.
Except for the sea access,
which they unfortunately no longer have.
A very big topic in Bolivia.
And there I saw
the rainforest.
I was in the salt desert.
I was on a mountain that is over 6,000 meters high.
There I could experience everything.
Have you ever thought
to take a language course in Berlin?
Then we have a great tip for you.
Namely our partner,
the GLS language center.
Eva, where are you from?
I'm from New York.
And you're going to school here.
Since when have you been here?
I've been learning German here for two weeks.
Let's take a look at what that looks like.
Now we're in the classroom
where you, Eva,
have lessons every morning.
You sit at this table.
How do you like the lessons
and the GLS language center?
The atmosphere here is very warm
and everyone is very nice
and helpful.
I feel very supported
because I came here alone.
A very nice experience.
Maybe you also feel like
coming to Berlin alone
and maybe you're a little scared.
Is that the right thing for me?
Eva did that too.
She had a good experience.
If you want to take a language course in Berlin,
we can highly recommend the GLS language center.
We are often nearby
because we shoot our videos here on the street.
If you feel like it,
book a course and save
30 euros at the end
with the code EASYGERMAN.
You can choose where you know the GLS.
Enter EASYGERMAN
and save 30 euros.
And which country
did you not like?
And why?
It shouldn't sound mean.
We were at the Polish Baltic Sea
and everyone always says
that's why we went there because it's super beautiful
and you can make beautiful waves.
We were there in the off-season
and there was nothing there.
Everything was closed and it was very sad for us.
I actually liked
every country so far.
I am open to the world.
There is no perfect country, right?
Definitely not a perfect country.
Everyone has its pros and cons.
It's really hard for me
because I think
that I felt some kind of fascination
in every country.
If I didn't like something,
it was more like
I don't know.
In Croatia we had a stupid accommodation
but that has nothing to do with the country.
It's always like that.
If you had to choose one,
which country
would you not recommend?
Not recommend?
I was in Finland.
Finland is beautiful but very, very cold.
I wouldn't recommend going there.
I would say
I didn't feel so comfortable in Switzerland.
Why?
Well, I found
the people a bit difficult.
And I also found
Northern France a bit difficult.
Also because of the people.
There was no country
that I didn't like at all.
I found the public toilets in France disgusting.
I can't say directly
that I wasn't
very impressed
by the Netherlands.
But maybe I wasn't in the right city.
I think it was more the place
that didn't fit.
But it was never a country that I didn't like.
Maybe Kenya.
Kenya because the difference
between poor and rich is so extreme
that it is terrible
when you drive through the area.
So now only from the country,
from the differences of poor and rich.
You were also in Kenya?
Yes, I was also in Kenya.
Yes, that's true.
It's always difficult
when you can't move freely.
So in France,
except for Paris,
I can't do much with it.
Although these rural landscapes
are very beautiful.
But I'm more of a city type.
I also have to have a bit of action
when I'm somewhere.
For example, I don't think
Spain is that cool either.
I was in Spain for a month
in the summer.
That didn't bother me that much.
I was there with friends.
Then you have a cool time.
But I didn't find it
particularly exciting about the architecture.
We were not in Madrid
and not in Barcelona.
Maybe my opinion would have changed.
But I didn't find the architecture that exciting.
People were cool, yes.
But the food
didn't bother me either.
I don't eat meat either.
That's why it wasn't always that easy there.
But Spain disappointed me
in everything.
Which country would you like to visit?
Armenia.
I would like to see Lithuania.
I definitely want to go to Iceland.
I'm a big fan of geology.
I would like to see the volcanoes.
I'm a big fan of ice bathing
and swimming in the Arctic Ocean.
That's a big dream of mine.
I would like to travel to Asia.
My daughter-in-law
comes from Japan.
My son was with her in Japan
and Vietnam.
That's why I would like to travel there.
When you are 18,
which countries will you travel to?
I think the USA is very cool.
And Asia.
I would like to visit
Madagascar.
Norway, Sweden,
Finland.
Scandinavia in general.
I haven't been there yet.
That's something
I can say spontaneously.
I'm going to Portugal
and then we'll take the bike
from Porto to Lisbon.
I would definitely like to
go to France.
I would like to go to Normandy
or to the west of France.
We will visit Denmark again.
I would like to visit
Italy because of the
lemon tree,
France because of the lavender fields
and Tahiti because of vanilla.
Definitely China.
I've only been to Hong Kong
and China is so big
and that's why I would like to travel through China.
To a specific place in China?
I would like to get an overview.
Shanghai and Beijing
of course.
Now we want to know
which country in the world
did you like the most?
All of them
and not all of them.
It's always a mix
between beautiful
and not so beautiful.
Yes, now tell me one name.
We want to hear one name, Janusz.
England.
Did you like it or not?
I liked it very much.
Why?
Because the people are so nice.
Also the aesthetics on the street.
The streets are crooked and crooked in England.
Yes, but cozy.
We will continue to discuss this in the comments.
Write to us what you think.
Which country did you like the most
in the world and which did not?
And where is England?
Do you say top
or flop?
We look forward to your comments.
Thank you for participating.
It was wonderful, a great episode.
See you soon.
Bye.
