In the third round of THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson 2025, Scottie Scheffler turned in a 5-under 66 to get to 23-under for the tournament, building his lead to eight strokes over the field heading into Sunday.
Well, the club stays on the path for so long.
Not a lot of face management.
No problems.
Second, so once you could pass
the resume, you could calm down.
Scheffler for Birdie.
Perfect speed again, though it's his
touch on the longer parts has been
really really good this way.
Well, it's always good,
but this week exceptional.
Hasn't made many pars on
this side though this week.
I think it's 59 isn't it?
The front nine alone 59.
This one up the right shot
should find the fairway.
And does that is deep too.
Wow, tell us what you think
about this particular swing and
what would what would his thought
be about a line and moving it
toward a target? Well, the main
thing he's doing here is trying to
make sure that the distance turns out.
If you see this shot was a little
more difficult had to bring it
down from a little bit in front.
Then a very solid committed stroke.
Sort of like that.
This one starts up the left
needs to miss those bunkers.
Even his bad shots are finishing
absolutely fine that shortens the whole.
That's exactly what he's done.
Just needs to go.
It was called the conditions.
In his 36 hole total of 124,
Frank is just one shot shy of
Justin Thomas's record.
Oh, here we go.
Not first either, is it for sure not?
This one up the left side going to be good.
6th and bounce back on tour.
This one starts the left side
of the green now fading.
Have to think that's right
where he was looking.
Let's go ads.
Oh ouch.
I was going to break right early
and work back to his left.
Needs a little go.
That to get back to 20 under.
And that's still.
Oh boy, that's headed toward.
Oh, it came back called missed the trees.
It clipped the tree actually on the
way down and went into the fairway.
Oh, it's starting to fall right.
This is good looking if it's the number.
It's a great shot for Sheffler.
Scotty Sheffler needed a high fade.
You know what were you expecting?
Just watch his feet on the downswing.
Fantastic and that is.
People last Randy Smith when
he was coaching him.
You gotta do anything with those
fees said no way.
Maybe just a hint too much speed.
And this is the reason why.
The claw on the shorter putts.
It's at 21 under par.
I would think this is going to
have some kind of movement.
It starts left fading on a tremendous line.
That is confidence go in.
They could.
Has to settle.
For a seven shot lead.
He and I said he wouldn't go
up the whole location on 8.
If he goes at this one,
I would be shocked.
And I'm shocked.
OK, I want a shot by Sheffler.
I'm done with this guy.
I'm going to start getting that any good.
And Sheffler pours it in.
22 under par grouping of the day.
Sheffler tees off at 18.
That went up the very right
side needs a soft bounce.
And buried in the rough on the right side.
I'm a little surprised by this.
I never saw it.
I fight should be perfect.
Middle of the green.
What a shot by Sheffler.
That is a great shot under the
circumstances in the dark from a lie like that.
Just superb that would have been good at noon.
The last time there was a seven
shot lead after 54 holes,
Brooks Koepke 2019 PGA Championship.
Little more.
Had the line.
He's going to finish it off.
Last time there was an 8 shot lead.
After 54 holes, Rory McIlroy had
the 2011 US Open at Congressional.
And that's the lead for Sheffler.
Up by 8 going into tomorrow's
final round in his hometown event.
First time this year he's had the
lead going to the final round.
And as we mentioned earlier,
is one each of his last four
instances with the 54 hole lead.
Scottie Sheffler open with his 61.
A second round 63 and today a 66 for Sheffler.
He leads by 8 shots going to tomorrow's
final round of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.
Will be impossible to beat him
unless you shoot 59 or 60 and he
stumbles and it really is control of his game.
Will be the final pairing with Eric Van Rooyen.
And all of his family and friends here
gets to sleep in his own bed tonight
and then come back up here for what
he hopes will be his first win of this season.
