Hi guys, welcome to Drinks Tube. My name's Cocktail Kate and I'm here today to show you an absolute
winner of a party drink, the Hawaiian Mai Tai Punch. This is tropical, it's fruity, it looks
really cool, it's got loads of different types of rum in it. If you've got any kind of celebration,
I'm talking birthdays, New Year's Eve, this drink is the winner. The key to any drink,
the key to any cocktail, the key to life, gang, is balance. I'm going to throw in 200 mils of
almond syrup and then we're going to throw in 350 mils of lime juice. That'll ensure that the drink
is neither too sweet nor too sour, making sure that all the other flavours sit really nicely.
We're then going to add a little lengthener. We've got some pineapple juice and we've got
some orange juice. Now the rule about juice is the fresher the better, okay? So we've got 350
mils of each. I'm going to pour those in together, party style. We're then going to go and start
adding a little bit of depth to the drink. So we've got some Angostura bitters and we're going
to throw 12 dashes of that in. And at this point you can just be waiting for your guests to arrive.
Boom. We're now going to offset that with a little bit of grenadine. Pomegranate syrup,
20 mils, adds a little bit of sweetness and as you're about to see, adds a lovely
little bit of colour to the drink. All right, now time for the rum. So today we've gone for
three different types of rum. We've got a white rum, a golden rum and an aged rum. I'm going to
start off with 200 mils of Bacardi Carta Blanca. It's going to bring some lovely citrusy fresh
flavours to the drink. Then we're going to throw in 200 mils of the golden rum, which is Bacardi
Carta Oro. Awesome. And then lastly, we're going to throw in our aged rum, Bacardi Ocho. 200 mils
is going to add little hints of kind of wood, caramel, toffee-esque notes to it. Come here a
Cool. So carrying on, we've now got all our ingredients in. So next up, I'm going to give
it a lovely stir and watch how the colours start to mingle in together. Oh yeah, that screams party.
Now we've gone for big blocks of ice, reason being it chills the drink way more without diluting it
too much. Okay, so if you've only got smaller cubes of ice, that's absolutely fine. You might
just have to drink the drink a little bit quicker. Smelling good. Oh yeah, loads of citrus,
loads of tropical notes coming through there. Now it's time to garnish. We're going to kick off
with lots of orange slices. Just go wild with your garnish gang. So let's get some cherries in there.
Oh yeah, lovely jubbly. Fresh mint. Oh, it smells beautiful. We're just going to give it a little
smack. We're going to release those oils just on there. By smacking it, you're just opening the
leaves, which releases a little bit more flavour. Oh yeah. Okay, we're going to pop that one on top
and then we're going to throw a few little leaves on the drink. That'll just ensure that it stays
nice and fresh. Boom-bastic. Pineapples. Alright, so when you're serving it, go as tropical as you
want. Four glasses for all your pals. We're ready. This is a winner. Okay, it's time to taste it gang.
Okay, that's in. Okay, cool. So, it smells like the beach. Is that what it'll taste?
Oh my word. Warm the dance floor. I'm about to embark. This is an absolute dream of a drink.
Loads of lime coming through. Lots of really lovely kind of caramel notes from that aged rum
as well going on there. And some lovely tropical flavours from the juice. That taste guys,
absolute winner. But, if you want to get a little bit more tropical and try some more tiki style
drinks, Jamie, if you just click here, our Jamie's making an absolute winner as well. It's called
the Zombie. And yeah, you really do have to see this one to know what I'm talking about.
Okay, so guys, Hawaiian Mai Tai Punch. See you next time gang. Enjoy.
