Janusz, is there something you would like to change about yourself? Or are you perfect?
I'm not perfect at all. There are many things I would like to change about myself.
One example?
One example, for example, more freedom, more peace, more laziness in my life, more time for myself.
Today we will ask the people here in Berlin what they would like to change about themselves. Let's go!
Let's go!
What would you like to change about yourself?
I think I would just like to be less strict with myself.
What would you like to change about yourself?
Last week I got a tattoo and I'm very dissatisfied with this tattoo and I would like to get it back.
Too late!
It's too late. I'm now thinking about getting a new tattoo or there is even the possibility of removing the tattoo with a laser.
Well, I would say that I just do more.
From what you do? And what do you do? Are you a writer or an actor?
No, I work in the theater, but more in hospitality.
It takes a lot of time, but when I'm at home, I'm usually tired.
Then I have to be a housekeeper and then I can do things for myself.
But we're getting to an age where you can be a little slower, right?
Actually, yes, but I don't want to admit that.
Yes, I would have to do a little more sport. I would have to drink a little less alcohol.
We are brothers in spirit, I tell you.
Yes, and approach other people even more, because it is important to communicate.
Oh, I would like to get into things that I'm too lazy or too comfortable with or where I don't dare.
Tell me a little bit, because that sounds more interesting.
Yes, for example, I would like to learn an instrument.
But I practice way too rarely and then I think to myself, why?
Actually, every time I do it, it's very nice and it's good for my soul.
But I just can't get around to doing it very often in the course of the day, in the evening or so.
And which instrument?
That would be an ukulele in this case.
Now we're a bit speechless, because I'm actually quite satisfied the way I am.
I've always been satisfied with my age and the way I look.
So I'm actually fine.
I've been waiting for someone to finally come and say, I'm satisfied with myself.
You give us all a little hope.
Well, I can only relate to him.
That's why I was so speechless.
I can't think of anything that would change me now.
Or what are you working on?
Do you want to be a better person?
No, I think I'm already ...
Well, no, not really.
Maybe be a little calmer sometimes.
What I like to call anger.
Are you getting angry?
Yes, I'm an angry person.
I wish I could believe in myself a little more, I think.
I would like to be more punctual.
And that's why I have to go right now.
That's complicated.
God, I don't know.
I would speak German better.
I would like to speak several languages.
It's actually quite simple, not being so lazy.
Do a little more.
Wishes that have been in my head for a long time.
Accomplish them.
What would you like to change about yourself?
Oh, I would like to get rid of my impatience.
I would like to be more patient.
Yes, the age maybe.
If you could, but you can.
You're in the best age ever.
You're 50 or so, aren't you?
It's worth it. We're a little older.
62.
That's the time when you're waiting for retirement.
That's an age where you ...
I would like to rewind a bit, if possible.
But unfortunately that's not possible.
You are actually satisfied with your life.
You are happy when you have grandchildren.
What would you like to change about yourself?
About myself?
What would I like to change about myself?
Sometimes I'm very nervous.
I think it's nice when I'm a little quieter and slower.
Sometimes I have to think about it.
I'm not really sure what I would like to change about myself.
Sometimes I'm very scattered and don't remember things.
I think it would be nice if I could remember better.
Not so confused.
I think it would be nice if I were a little clearer sometimes.
I would like to be more focused.
I think that's the most important thing.
To have inner peace.
Inner peace?
Exactly. And then be more focused.
And what would you like to focus on?
Work, I think. And love.
My character.
How do we start with your character?
Maybe more patience.
More intensity?
Patience.
More patience.
What cultural background do you come from?
Latin America. I'm Mexican.
Of course.
What would you like to change about yourself?
I think I would like to be more brave.
I often put a lot of thought into it.
And then I'm surprised afterwards that it worked out quite well.
So maybe a little more self-confident.
Can you describe a situation for us where you actually hesitated
and didn't dare.
And then you dared and were happy.
I'm a student in the practical year.
I study medicine.
And sometimes I'm worried about surgery,
when I'm assigned to assist.
And then I think, oh, maybe I can't do that.
And in retrospect, it usually works out.
And then I'm happy.
No matter what you're working on,
I always find it helpful when I have help.
Whether it's sports, mental health, or maybe language learning.
Janusz, do I sometimes help you with language learning?
Through small corrections?
Yes, and thank you very much for that.
That's really useful.
With pleasure.
Maybe you don't have a partner who can do that right now.
That's why I would like to recommend our partner italki.
This is a marketplace for tutors who teach German.
And that could also be a great tip for you.
Try it out.
Work with someone in a one-on-one conversation.
Let yourself give individual feedback.
And let yourself be helped with your learning plan
to become fluent in German.
If you go to our link, go.italki.com.easygerman,
you'll even get a $20 voucher
after you've done your first test session.
So be sure to try it out.
And did you actually do a therapy
or some other course in this area?
No, not that, but I train Kung Fu.
Not as regularly as I used to,
but that helped me a lot.
Yes, totally.
Because you feel a little superior and therefore calmer.
And did you work on it?
Yes, I think so.
So it's a process, of course.
But it's getting better and better.
There are also times when it's worse,
but in general it's getting better.
What strategies have you developed
to become a little more chill
and a little more relaxed
I think the most important thing for me
is that life is not as serious as we all think.
Sometimes you can just chill, just breathe.
We're only here to have a good time.
And in the end, no one looks so closely
at your mistakes as you do.
And I think if you check that,
then it's okay,
then you're not so strict with yourself.
What do you do to achieve this goal?
How do you work on it?
I don't know exactly.
But you're learning,
because I have exactly the same problem.
It's been my problem for years
that I don't know how to get on time.
Maybe look at the clock more often.
And how do you deal with your nervousness?
Oh, I just have to cope with it.
Maybe breathing through,
closing your eyes,
taking a deep breath,
that helps sometimes.
And what attitude would you have
to a therapist,
to the possibility of talking to a therapist?
I think it's a very good way
to improve your life,
to understand who you are and what you do.
I've done that in the past
and I found it very helpful.
And if you wanted to give advice to other people,
become better people,
do something.
What would be your advice?
Meditate, learn to meditate.
And that works?
It's better for one,
it's worse for the other.
But I think it works.
If everyone manages to meditate
and focuses on it more than anything else,
then the world will certainly be a better one.
How can you become a better person?
What advice would you give,
for example, to me?
I would advise everyone
to leave social media to the left.
I don't think it's a good idea
to find your own way.
And you should meet people
as friendly as possible.
Be friendly to people.
And if you were to give me an advice,
how can you become a better person?
What could you work on?
Self-reflection.
I think the first step to improvement
is to recognize what doesn't work
or what you want to change
or to think about yourself.
And then to see how you can change that.
You should definitely plan your time.
It doesn't go from today to tomorrow.
And very regularly.
Stay on it and build up a small routine
so that you work on it again and again.
And if something doesn't work out,
don't be too angry at yourself.
Because that doesn't work.
You only get yourself done with it
and then maybe you don't work on
what you were supposed to do.
And if you were to give me an advice,
what should you do to become a better person?
First of all, love yourself.
That's the most important thing.
Then you can love other people too.
I don't know if I have the qualification
to say when you're a good person.
But I think if you try not to hurt others
in life, that's a good starting point.
And that's something I'm doing now.
It's very personal.
I don't know if other people do it too.
But with every decision I make in my life,
I always ask myself how my younger self,
my mini-me, would think about it.
And if I know it's completely against
the morals of my little self,
then I don't do it.
And if I think my mini-me thinks it's good,
then I do it.
That's interesting.
Then you still have a pure soul
and good morals.
And may I give you some advice?
And I'm doing that for the first time.
I just thought of that.
You say that to everyone.
Yes, not to everyone.
But you are so young.
And I just have an instinct from my age
to give you some advice.
Do something, you mentioned it,
where you get better.
Because that will be the energy for your life.
If you feel like you're getting better,
that means you're not wasting your life.
Because what you like to do,
you have to go all in and get better.
I think it's a lot about gratitude.
A lot of people look at what you don't have,
what you still lack.
I think it's good to be patient
and to check what we actually have.
That you are healthy,
that you have a roof over your head.
These are a lot of happy things
that many people in the world don't have.
You have to appreciate that.
Amen.
