The local college students stood out and
got the honor of working alongside now
Pope Leo I 14th last year. Julia Oeka, a
physics and theology major at St.
Joseph, met then Cardinal Provost at the
16th ordinary General Assembly of the
Sina of Bishops in Rome. Oeka was
selected as one of the two young lay
people representing the US Catholic
community. It marked the first time in
history that non-bishops had voting
status. He's an extremely welcoming,
warm person. Um he struck me as someone
who is very approachable. Um very
friendly with everyone. He struck me as
a person who isn't afraid um to ask
questions um even you know question
people but in a very very respectful way
and always having Christ in mind always
being um centered around the mission of
the Senate and and very respectful very
friendly.
Julia said when they first met then
Cardinal Pos she told him she was
attending St. Joseph's University. She
said he responded as a Villanova guy.
