Elon Musk revealed Disappointing truth of Blue Origin's New Shepard Rocket Issue
Can’t get it up to orbit loll. A mocking jab from Elon Musk aimed at Blue Origin’s New Shepard, leaving Jeff Bezos totally embarrassed.
And it gets worse when you think about how Bezos once promised to send millions of people to space for work.
Maybe he should’ve aimed to send 100 millionaires on a space trip instead, that might work.
Musk would probably respect him more than he does now, instead of just laughing at the idea that Blue Origin could actually compete with their vehicle.
In today's Alpha Tech episode, we'll find out exactly why Musk sees Blue Origin's New Shepard as little more than a space tourism toy.

"if you are only going to doing suborbital then your rocket can be sort of shorter" .
This was Musk's playful response when the famous journalist Kara Swisher asked him about the technical reason behind the "sensitive" shape of New Shepard during the 2021 Code Conference.
His comment drew some chuckles from the audience. That cleverly pointed out the tech gap between Blue Origin's and SpaceX's vehicles. While the tall and powerful Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy easily reach orbit, New Shepard is just a strangely-shaped, modestly-sized vehicle that's only capable of suborbital flights.

It seems like Elon Musk has a "bigger is better" mindset, especially regarding rockets. For him, going all the way to orbit is what matters, not just a quick hop to the edge of space for a few minutes of weightlessness.
But technically, he's not wrong. A suborbital rocket doesn’t need to be as tall or powerful as an orbital rocket since it doesn’t require a large fuel tank, unlike SpaceX's Falcon 9 or Starship. That’s the logic behind the claim that it can be shorter. Musk also subtly implies the "masculine" shape of the rocket, suggesting that Blue Origin intentionally made it look that way to grab attention. Of course, it’s shorter because it’s just doing a suborbital flight.
Musk’s confidence was perfectly wrapped up in just a few witty lines.
