right
okay really need to bring those shelves
here so I can sort that
out up
here spiders on them all everything's
got a spider on it
everything Everything has got a spider
on it this whole shed needs to be
fumigated from spiders i have to hang it
outside oh god a spider shed good
morning everyone how you all doing
welcome back to my lotment diaries my
name is Emma these are my a lotment
diaries um Oh what are you doing in here
you shouldn't be in here you should be
outside right we'll find a place for you
just wait there a second okay
okay so how you all doing um I hope
you're enjoying the lovely weather we've
been having i think it's um going to
change a little bit next week and but
the temperatures are still going to stay
okay i think the sun's disappearing for
a bit which is a bit of a shame but you
know what we have had so much sun and
blue skies i mean I really don't feel
like I can complain very much because
the weather has just been insane sorry
I'm like ducking down um right there's a
few things I need in here today the
thing I was going to try and find don't
know why I still have you is I had
snappy seeds in here somewhere and I
don't know where they
are ah no oh god no don't do that don't
do that my
gosh do that stay oh there they
are sugar snap peas there we go we're
going to sew some of these today so
that's what I needed um okay no
something's not right something's not
right something is not right in here
something's been in here something's
been in my shed someone stolen something
from my shed what would they steal
though nothing's been stolen the shed is
a little bit of a mess like I know it's
always a mess haha but I mean it's like
really been disheveled and Oh
oh oh something's tried to get in my
shed maybe it's succeeded maybe it's an
animal or something something's tried to
get in here they've broken all the
window and it's coming out here which is
it wasn't doing before oh that's really
weird i feel like something's tried to
break in but then how would it with that
netting now I put all this garden mesh
on the outside um and that was just sort
of stop people from breaking in and also
so I'd know they've broken in not that
that's going to stop him but do you know
what I mean i mean it's not been moved
so how would they have done that unless
something's on the inside trying to get
out oh god don't say that i think it
probably just all needs replacing and
sorting out to be honest um okay right
einstein is sitting there waiting for me
so we're going to start the day by
feeding the bird um and then we're going
to go to the greenhouse and see if
everything's died cuz I haven't been
here for a couple of days uh so we don't
know if everything's died or not so
let's go and find out
together
[Music]
morning good morning good morning there
you go
[Music]
[Music]
there's a little fox over there just
watching me can you see him i feel like
he wants to come this way but he's seen
me now he doesn't want to is it a fox or
a cat i think it's fox could be a cat
it's an animal let's just agree on that
it's a mammal there's a mammal over
there okay so we are still
living everything is still living
excellent looking very strong looking
very healthy and happy yeah absolutely
is still alive cucumbers hm not sure
actually having said that he has got
taller cuz he's going over the the twine
now so that's really good are you Are
you still okay are you all alive i think
they are you know I actually think
they're doing really well yeah they're
fantastic sweet corn amazing this is
going to make such a beautiful bed um as
long as you all still stay alive please
stay alive excellent you're doing great
you're doing great and then my
concoction of different plants on here
fantastic these are all sunflowers yeah
doing really well you see their little
first leaves these are their seed leaves
here you see these leaves here these are
their seed leaves so these would have
been the first leaves that showed on the
plant they're going yellow and then what
they'll do is they'll fall off and that
is quite typical of seed leaves not all
plants lose lose their seed leaves but
most of them do so they will eventually
go yellow and fall off these up here
these are the plant's true leaves so
these are the leaves that will stay and
photosynthesis and keep the plant going
but they're little seed leaves they've
done their job now and they can they can
go they can you know die basically right
so before I um go and water everything I
brought these at the weekend picked them
up from Robert Das they're um seed trays
and I thought I'd put the seeds the
seedlings the pots in here and then when
I water it won't go all over the table
and everything they are actually a bit
small when I picked them up they felt
really big and now they're here and I
see the seeds they feel really small why
is that discuss anyway um we put as many
pots into them as we can probably put
these ones on the floor actually yeah
you can join your friends on the floor
it'll be all right calm
down try and keep this desk table little
bit neater i think I'm not very good at
keeping things tidy i don't know if
you've noticed that actually i might
have hidden it really well but um I'm
actually quite a messy person it's just
my brain is so scattery all the time i
just can't I find it really hard to keep
things clean and tidy and organized
right okay that that is actually
better
uh could you move a little bit that's it
great thank
you that over the top like that i don't
know why that will make a difference
though but maybe it will make a
difference and I just can't see it yet
what is this oh this is snapdragons okay
cool see I remembered sometimes I do
right everything needs a really good
water particularly this poor little
cucumber which I think might be dead but
he does still look quite good at the end
so we never know right okay i'm trying
to leave i'm trying to leave
okay water
[Music]
okay that was that That was not a lesson
in how to water that was appalling it
just sort of I don't know just threw
like a bucket of water over him then
that was not good you go
mate oh
god oh no oh no somebody did leave me a
comment and say I can't wait for you to
see see you water that cuz that is going
to fall down right okay
no not a chance okay well what we'll do
is
um Oh that was clever just hooked it
into the into the side that's really
clever there you go i fixed it i've just
hooked the bar into here so it's got
something to lean on anyway what I need
to do is get a proper a proper pole to
hold the hanging basket up because you
were right it is going to fall down but
I still like the idea of having some
hanging baskets in here cuz you get more
growing space you know I'm always
looking up always looking to grow stuff
up um and also I am going to sort out
the back of the greenhouse and have more
growing space but not today i think it's
a big job so I'm not going to do that
today but I'm going to go around and
water new seedlings in so I've sewed a
lot of new seeds and we've had no rain
and even though the weather's not been
that hot you know we are sort of looking
at 17 18° new seedlings can dry out very
very quickly so they do need constant
watering and looking after so I'm going
to go around give everything a bit of a
bit of
a was looking for another word for water
then but I'm just going to say water
drizzle shower replenishment refreshment
yeah that sounds good refreshment i'm
going to refresh everything cool
[Music]
[Music]
right so snap peas sugar snap peas
absolutely delicious peas and you can
eat the whole thing as well i absolutely
love them they don't grow very tall this
is all coming from my own personal
experience they don't grow very tall so
they don't need a huge structure because
by the time they sort of get to 3 or 4
foot tall they start giving you peas so
they're not like um other peas which
sort of want to take over the world and
they just keep getting taller and taller
and taller and you think "My goodness
are you trying to get to the moon?" Snap
peas are a little bit more demure about
growing you know they're like "I don't
need to be the tallest i will be the
tastiest." So we'll do two peas per
module giving us 20 i mean 20 will be
quite a lot of plants if they will
germinate so that would be excellent uh
how do I open this establishment oh okay
this they are little
snapies fabulous so what we'll do is
we'll just put two on each you see what
I'm doing here no not really right so we
just place two on the top always looks a
bit funny when you do this
just two like this the idea of course as
always is to pick out the weaker one and
keep the stronger one however I rarely
do that what I end up doing is keeping
all of them cuz I always feel so sorry
for them i think you've taken the time
to germinate for me i'm not going to
reward you by you
know ending your life so we just push
them in with our finger like
that in you go in you go in you go in
you go what I really should have done
these are quite hard these seeds so I
could have soaked them what I could have
done is I could have wrapped them in
like kitchen towel and then wet it and
sort of soaked them overnight or maybe
even longer than that until they started
to sprout a little bit but I didn't so
the key will be to keep these wet in a
tray oh there's a hair band there oh
that's very useful right pop you in a
tray like that i'm going to drown you
now guys so be careful
[Music]
careful careful careful oh drowning it i
need to get a smaller smaller watering
can i'll keep saying that this whole
year and I won't get one till next year
now wo let you all soak in okay that's
the
snappies done this is my snappy
structure all ready to go you can see
it's quite small um I brought this a
while ago i've had to replace bits of it
cuz it keeps breaking it's just got
netting over it but that's about how
tall I think I need it to be for
snappies i'll just give it a bit of a
weed i'm going to look after this bed so
that they're ready to go out as soon as
uh as soon as they're ready they can go
straight out is what I mean
[Music]
this is just another area of the a
lotment I'm trying to keep on top of
when it comes to weeding and that's
because all my sweet corn is going to go
out here so by the time it comes round
to the time when I'm supposed to plant
my sweet corn out the last thing I want
is for this to be a weedy mess so I'm
really trying to keep on top of it i
would imagine my sweet corn will be
going out next month probably near the
end of next month maybe mid mid to late
May um it's looking great at the moment
i've got another variety on the go at
home which will go somewhere else in the
a lotment i don't know where yet i don't
know where yet but this is going to be
sweet corn and potentially corettes if
the slugs will let me have corettes I'd
love to have corettes but it's up to
them really will they let me have them
[Music]
Right guys somehow for some reason
unknown to me we are in the shed again
oh what a wonderful place i love being
in here not but we come to get the daily
achievers so last
year it's not a spider it's just a bit
grass last year I wrapped up the daily
achievers in newspaper i dug them all up
because I really wanted to grow them
basically and they keep dying in my soil
because it's just too wet and boggy over
the winter time so dug them all up put
them in here put them all in here and
now it's time to find out if they
survived the winter in my shed so what
we'll do is we'll take them
out and we'll go and investigate them
so immediately with this one I can see
that it's got fungus growing on it and a
lot of the tubers are rotted i wonder if
there's a bit I could save i don't know
if there's any of that I can save okay
fine it's the same with this one seems
to have rotted really bad yeah it's not
good right let's try these
okay that's fed a bit
better no it feels like a soggy
mess this one my last hope
mate oh crap oh crap every single one of
them none of these survived in my shed
unfortunately if Id had the greenhouse I
think they would have i think I could
have protected them better but oh no
it's just completely rotted the whole
thing it looks like old apples or
squishy absolutely none of them have
survived so what I will do is throw
these in the compost that is such a
shame oh dear never mind you know what
it doesn't always work but at the end of
the day At the end of the day you can
only give it a good go can't you and it
just didn't work if I'd had the
greenhouse it would have anyway I'm
going to buy some more daily tubers and
then in the next video I will pot them
on i'm going to grow them into pots in
my greenhouse for as long as physically
possible because the slugs and snails
love ders here so I'm going to grow them
on as big as I can and then plant them
out and then hopefully they have more
chance of surviving but we will find out
together never
mind guys i can't not talk about my
tulip bed any longer i keep walking past
it and showing you sort of snippets of
it but I have to just talk about it
properly because how gorgeous how
amazing has this bed worked out it's
incredible um and what's really
beautiful about it and the thing that I
love the most is that the tulips flower
at different times so these are all the
early ones you can see flowering but
there's a lot of them that haven't even
got going yet they've just got their
foliage still and they still got like
buds really closed up so when these all
die back there'll be new tulips coming
and flowering so it's just going to be a
continuous flower which is amazing and
in between it all I've scattered wild
flower seeds which are also growing
thanks to the lovely weather we're
having and the lack of slugs at the
moment um it's all doing quite well but
it's just gorgeous isn't it lovely
[Music]
[Laughter]
[Music]
right anyway guys that is it for today
um I think next time I come I am going
to have to bite the bullet and rearrange
my greenhouse a little bit uh I'm
actually devastated at how messy it's
got in here so quickly but also on the
same time not too surprised i am quite a
messy disorganized person so I think I'm
going to have to just do it and redo the
back of it so I've got more growing
space I think sooner rather than later
for that so that will be my job in the
next vlog have a lovely rest of your
gardening week and I will see you
Wednesday thank you so much for watching
bye
