Costa Rica: Minimalist House Surrounded by a Tropical Rainforest near the Pacific Ocean
Located on the Papagayo Peninsula in Costa Rica, Casa Yume is born from a profound integration of architecture and landscape. Every design decision responds to the topography, the views, and the natural environment, establishing an organic relationship with the site.
The project was organized around a geometric tension: a diagonal line that guides the exterior—the pool and interaction areas—and a straight line that defines the architectural volume—services, social, and private areas—in a simple and efficient design.
One of the main challenges was to eliminate any structural elements that would interrupt the view. To achieve this, a horizontal frame was created that accentuates the horizon, making the pool visually merge with the ocean.
The entrance blends with the terrain, generating a sensorial journey that culminates in a 17-meter unobstructed panoramic view. The double height reinforces this connection, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior.
The diagonal pool reinforces visual continuity and blends seamlessly into the landscape. This infinity effect was complemented by complex structural solutions and high-level engineering, maintaining slenderness and efficiency.
Regarding the interior design, the continuity of natural materials was prioritized, incorporating green tiles and landscaping that extends the sensorial experience to each level of the project.
At QBO3, we understand architecture as a platform for experiences. In Casa Yume, every proportion, texture, and construction decision was designed to strengthen the connection between space and inhabitant, enhancing the surroundings and creating a unique synergy with the landscape.
